There seems to be a minor misunderstanding about when presents are given. They are given in the evening of 24th of January (Jouluaatto). It is not Christmas day (joulupäivä) in Finland. The traditional way is that Joulu holidays are three days. Jouluaatto 24th, Joulupäivä (Christmas day) 25th and Tapaninpäivä 26th (2nd Christmas day). A bit petty remark from me, but since traditions have these details and different families can have their own ways...
ImForwardlook that’s nice, it’s also the way I’m use to! I’m sure everyone has different traditions, with my husband’s family this was my first time experiencing gifts this way!
If you enjoy quiet and pure winter nature, perhaps you should leave snow mobiles and try much more peaceful cross country skiing. You get to see much more and the experience for your mind is very different.
The Finnish Joulu is not exactly or only Christmas. Christianity has kind of absorbed some older tradition, so for most people joulu has become synonymous with that Christian and strongly commercial festive time. However there are still some traditions and symbols left of the older heritage.
i like how your in laws seem hospitable putting on your snow boots. very welcoming!

just42tube thanks for watching & thanks for sharing this info!
Interesting. I'm a Finn and we always labeled both the sender and recipient on all packages.
