"Real" Lawn Boys (pre-Toro) will outmow any of the cheap garbage that's sold nowadays, regardless of the brand. I have a newly acquired '78 7227 with the D-601 and even with it's measly 3 HP rating, it has plenty of torque and cuts perfect. Glad to see other Lawn Boy fans out there!
nice to see you guys having fun out doing this stuff…a family just out enjoying time with each other. Doesn't matter what you guys do I get the sense that it's just spending time together that is most important. Thanks for sharing that.
@@schwagmanjones3312 I'm not a 4-cycle hater, but the 2-cycles are definitely better. Anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't mowed with an old Lawn Boy (2-cycle)
A lot depends on how sharp the blade is, if the engine is running at the proper RPM, and if exhaust ports and air filter are clean. Horsepower is not everything.....
Lawn mower, trimmer, chainsaw, polesaw, anything like that 2-cycle wins easy. Although, on paper those 4-Mix Stihl engines look good (I have no experience with them)
I have mowed grass my whole life and as a general rule the 4 stroke push mower is the best overall choice. But there are some exceptions. When you mow on the side of a hill as I do then you want a 2 stroke for that application for obvious reasons. (hint: when the mower is sideways on a hill a 4 stroke has a hard time oiling itself) A 2 stroke dominates in this condition. But overall a 4 stroke is better.
I have a soft spot for LBs, seeing as that was the first mower I ever used. I started mowing with dad's old Lawnboy (same model as the older one here), back when I was 8 or so (ahh, the 70's...in today's uptight world, the neighbors would probably call Child Protective Services!)
Love those mowers! Hay and beautiful little girl you have there! Is the mower heavy? Have you checked out lawnboy lad's channel? Thanks for showing us'. Cool! S
ZacksLawnService most F's are. The only thing that's missing that makes it commercial is the steel wheels and the red 1 gallon gas tank but they all have the same engine
You neve start a mower and emeditally start mowing you let it warm up for a few minutes like you would you're car you could ruin the engine by not letting it warm up and getting the Oil up through the the engine
Shouldn't there be a gender neutral name for lawn mowers? Can I buy a Lawn Girl? No. There should be a Lawn Person with a gender neutral color scheme that is not brainwashing the world into believing lawn work is for boys! PS. I am not a crackpot.
my mom buy the red one and I say mom it's broken look and we came back so now now we have the Greene on but it leak gas so my mom said it does not even cut grass and I said yes it does gas and he said yes it does cut grass
thats not a real murray a real murray would have a briggs and stratton engine the murrays that have the tecumseh engines are wanna be murrays not a real murray

I have three Lawn-Boys, all F type engines, I love them, each is a different year, 78' 8310 Deluxe, 82 8671AE Mulch-r-Catch, and an 87 S21ZPN
Owned a early 1980s and and mid 1990s. They BOTH mowed well. They can easily out power the equal hp from a 4 stroke
It just shows you how good lawn boy is like that thing must me 30 or 40 years old
Vintage lawn Boys are the best .. and cut quality is amazing...
Right on cool mower test
Better than being indoors the old 4stroke surprised me cool stuff thanks for posting that

It's a sickness.
it really depends on what you are using the motor for sometimes you want a 2 stroke sometimes you want a 4 stroke

Think that's why they last, designed by a marine company. Don't forget about the cork float.

Nah
These are 2 stroke mowers. The oil is mixed with the gas.
These are both essentially the same mower. Both F engines.
My mom said them thangs are to loud
