  • The "Arab Spring" of 2010-2011 was an exciting historical moment when citizens of Middle Eastern nations spontaneously rose up against their tyrannical regimes and demanded a voice in their own future, After the successful uprising in Tunisia, the people of Egypt decided they had had enough of the dictatorship of President Hosni Mubarak, who had been in control of the country since 1981.
On January 29, 2011, we attended a demonstration of solidarity with the Egyptian people in downtown San Francisco, recording the event for Noodle Brain Productions. It was lively but free of violence.
Decades later, we still face authoritarians both abroad and at home who aim to crush the will of citizens. In 2024, Syria finally had their own Arab Spring in early winter and threw out their dictator. More of this, please.

The "deal" is this was a moment in history we caught on camera. Not saying paradise ensued.
