The Caracal is beautiful, but I think his daddy is either overfeeding him or not giving him enough exercise. Let him run around outside and play and cut back on his eating. This beautiful kitty will be healthier, happier and live longer.

He has it too good. He gets all he wants to eat without having to hunt for any of it. Most caracals have a hunting range that covers dozens if not hundreds of miles which they traverse on a regular basis just to feed themselves.
He's SO beautiful, but he's a VERY big boy. He does need an exercise regime for his own good. That's a lot of cat being carried on his ankles, hips & shoulders - could lead to joint damage & arthritis, which would be unfair on him. I didn't realise caracals hiss as part of their communication - That's fascinating!
That's because these animals should not be kept as pets and should be in the wild, the ownership of these and Servals is an indicator of how self-centred humans can be.

Big cats do not mistake people for food, even in the wild. And this cat is tame. But he should live with people who have a fenced in yard for him, for his own health and exercise. Many cats do not like to walk on a leash.

Yes but they are somewhat unhealthy, on the obese side. In the wild they would not be carrying that amount of weight around. These are one of the most awesome creatures you can have as pets. I read that the hissing is a form of communication, like when dogs wag their tail and bark. Wish I could meet one of them!
