@@adzrobinson5191 thanks a local jeweler claimed years ago Definitely a Hall mark possibly Foreign He also said it was silver or silver coated not plated And was perplexed by its weight
What if a tie pin just says SILVER on the back and nothing else? Please let me know as want to buy it. They claim sterling silver but I think it might be plate.
Unfortunately I am really not sure with that example. If it is from a reputable establishment then I would suggest it is probably silver. But if not, then it could be plated. I would say be weary.
@@adzrobinson5191 - It's on eBay. The advert says Sterling Silver but it just says 'silve' on the back. Obviously, if it is sterling I can polish it up perfect if plate then it isn't tarnished that I see it is the metal underneath. I like the look of the tie pin with the shaped edges. Unusual and good value if solid silver. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174066903591?ul_noapp=true
Old silver plated silverware could be sought after to add to an existing heirloom family silverware set or collectibility. You have to remember that most of the older patterns are no longer being manufactured and have become scarcer with time.
Thank you Adz, the channel and your efforts are very much appreciated !

Finding silver in a box of silver plate is really cool! Buried treasure fantasies... 😂
A seller have a dish that also have the lion mark, but said it’s silver plated
This guy talks around the solar system to get to the moon.
That's actually a very well thought out comment
What does this mark mean
No1. A. . IE. Starshape .then S with horizontal line through
On a very heavy fork ?
