That's more than I can say for Samurai (which was just watered-down Shinkenger) and Megaforce (I don't even know where to start with that one) Plus Mack is actually pretty well written. Honestly, this season was the definition of "wasted potential" so many cool & interesting concepts & villains & the scavenger hunt aspect was so entertaining to watch new settings, new discoveries, different villain factions with different aesthetic & objectives even having connections to the rangers even if surface level, but it fall flat because mack's dad doesn't really do much & the characters not really being connected as they should be the sentinel knight is a whole can of worms on his own, he's ridiculously overpowered but makes questionable decisions that are too stupid & convoluted like scattering all the gems on earth or not making the rangers retrieve that darn sword so he can tap into his full power & I don't know why he didn't do it. Rita & Zedd's son should've been the final villain, not the brothers it would've give the rangers a big bad who is build up from episode 1 rather than appearing for the special out of nowhere & dying shortly after

Power Rangers Overdrive was despised because it came from the Disney era where the franchise was peak. We were spoiled for so many years since the debut of Ninja Storm that anything less would feel like garbage. Separate Operation Overdrive from the Disney era and it literally outshines the whole Neo-Saban season, Turbo and Lost Galaxy.
Imagine saying Turbo can be less than Operation Overdrive. Turbo 2nd half (the T.J.'s team) was the proto In Space. Everything In Space did great started In Turbo.
Operation Overdrive still has the best crossover because the past rangers are from multiple series and actually interact as actual characters rather than being just there for morphing
I had the DriveMax and BattleFleet megazords but deadass all I remember about the show is the characters and the ending. I could not tell you a single thing they actually did.
Overdrive was my favorite for several years but even back then i didn't really care about anyone on screen at any given point as Mac and later the 6th ranger Everybody else was just there
Honestly I really did like this two parter but I couldn’t manage to watch the rest of the episodes especially as a kid. I’m definitely going to try and watch this season later this year.
*Power Rangers Turbo Lite* and that's saying a lot since *Mighty Morphin* is *Power Rangers Turbo: Turbo Plus* and *Turbo* is *"Power Rangers: SPD Beta"*
overdrives theme song is actually pretty good imo. im a music nerd so im probably the only one who notices the backing instrumentals that combine the adventerous elements with the hiphop theme that was popular with kids shows at the time. the lyrics are actually pretty good too. its just if we're being honest the power ranger fandom demographic is definitely not the kind to like hiphop. if you know what i mean. same reason why a lot of fans dont like the mystic force theme either even though that one goes pretty hard.
Only three things I like about this season one is the pink Ranger two I kinda like how the black ranger he was smooth, but he had his own thing going on and three that team up with the old-school Rangers
I still have no idea why all the hate this season got after all these years. Was always one of my favorites. I watched Boukengers later and did not like it as much as OO. Very recently I rewatched this whole season with my son and he too enjoyed it. Some of the things that really impressed me: 1. The villains. While having to use Boukengers footage, they somehow came up with a whole new fraction, making a total of 4 fractions in a Power rangers season. 2. How they change the Mercury Ranger story from his Boukenger counter part. 3. Once a Ranger episode, of course. 4. The crazy amount of zords that may be ever matched by only Wild Force. 5. That twist at the end. 6. Great support cast.
iirc, this was when the writers strike happened? The first 2 part was indeed the highlight of the season (that and the crossover). Such a shame studios were (and still are) greedy that the strikes happened..
Overdrive is not a great season and it's no where in my favorites but I don't understand the life of me how people would still classify as the worst season of the franchise even after the Neo Saban era. Compare to the Neo Saban era Overdrive actually was trying to tell a story, never talked down to it's kid demographic, had characters that at least interesting and even partially developed (a lot more than Megaforce and Ninja Steel) and most importantly had a production that cared about the season they were writing. I also feel like some fans crap on Overdrive without even watching it and just follow the flock. And I think some of it is caused by Linkara's videos where he crapped on Overdrive and claims it's the worst season. Now I don't think Linkara is toxic (far from it) but his influence definitely played a factor on why people still label Overdrive as the worst season or that it has zero redeeming qualities

Why did they have to do the brother like that man 🤣. Also read up on the twist some time before this video and it was kinda crazy.
the opening always reminded me of the yugioh gx op /neg
You were 8 when this was out? I was 15 and forgot PR was even making new shows. Damn, I’m old 😂
This premiered during my senior year of high school.
Bro you got a like in the first 20 seconds with that song synopsis.
ayyyyyy
I remember this season, I kinda made a UA-cam poop of the opening back in my beginning of making my channel.
Part of the theme song's problem is trying to fit the overlong title in. Should've just been called _Power Rangers: Overdrive_ , to be honest.
Okay I'm not going to lie I totally forgot power rangers Operation overdrive even existed. Yet I'm in the middle of boukenger
Hard disagree on the theme song, i loved it 😭 awesome video!! 😋
LOL
Bro i love the intro theme 🤣
This series was my first Power Rangers series. I do not have the hate tinted glasses for it.
0:33 ladies and gentlemen a review done by a cinema sins cosplay
Overdrive was my favorite for several years but even back then i didn't really care about anyone on screen at any given point as Mac and later the 6th ranger
Everybody else was just there
Hmm..... I remember a specific episode where my home country was mentioned..... I freaked back then
The red ranger plot twist was awesome tbh ngl
Icl those unmorphed uniforms are cool ash
naw I can't agree less that theme song goes hard as fuck
For some reason this season is treated by fandom the way Super Megaforce should be.
Once a Ranger is still one of the best team ups ever
Cmon now OO was my first PD season I’ve watched and personally my favorite lol
Honestly I really did like this two parter but I couldn’t manage to watch the rest of the episodes especially as a kid. I’m definitely going to try and watch this season later this year.
Ngl I love the overdrive opening😭
*Power Rangers Turbo Lite*
and that's saying a lot since *Mighty Morphin* is *Power Rangers Turbo: Turbo Plus* and *Turbo* is *"Power Rangers: SPD Beta"*
overdrives theme song is actually pretty good imo. im a music nerd so im probably the only one who notices the backing instrumentals that combine the adventerous elements with the hiphop theme that was popular with kids shows at the time. the lyrics are actually pretty good too. its just if we're being honest the power ranger fandom demographic is definitely not the kind to like hiphop. if you know what i mean. same reason why a lot of fans dont like the mystic force theme either even though that one goes pretty hard.
Only three things I like about this season one is the pink Ranger two I kinda like how the black ranger he was smooth, but he had his own thing going on and three that team up with the old-school Rangers
I made the list! :D
I adored Operation Overdrive, and I am proud to have the morpher in my collection.
that’s what’s up 🙌
@@HedgeOnStage you betcha!
I am binge watching Operation overdrive it's a ok season
That was in the middle of jungle fury.
I saw the team up, and I saw maybe the last three episodes.
If this show "never happned", then how comes this show was my first exposure to Power Rangers at a young age?
you should actually watch the video before commenting please
unrelated but time force has the best opening out of all of em
I for some reason confuse overdrive with rpm and I don’t know why? 😆😆
They're both car seasons
You should review Samuell Bentas (black ranger) demo for the op. The theme song could've been worse
I’ve definitely been thinking of doing a video reacting to all the demo themes 🤔
Seeing hate for the opening brings pain to my soul
5:38 He says they look worst then we see special effects better than any saban season lmao 🤣 we don’t trash the Disney era over here
Disney is forever the best era, I grew up a Disney kid with Rangers
I will not praise everything it did bc not everything deserves it, same with every era
still my favourite season and it's not even close🤷🏽♂️🐐💯
I respect it! 💯
My idea for a complete reimagining of this season is to make it a sequel to Lightspeed Rescue.
never speak on the theme song ever again my boy shits a banger
Bangin on a trash can you RIGHT
@@HedgeOnStagebetter than neo saban
@@donting24anything was better than the unoriginal neosaban "gogo power rangers + weak rhyming catchphrase"
Doesn't change the fact that Overdrives op and RPMs op suck donkey balls😂
@@Brakzillaa honestly between the two i would take operation overdrive over RPM cuz at least the op for operation overdrive doesnt just outright continously shout out the same words as RPM (no offense on RPM).
It's goofy as hell in the best way, I personally find it leagues better than "Daishi go away, we're here to save the day" 🤢
Honestly it had the right ideas but couldn’t execute it correctly. A show like this probably would’ve worked a good five to ten years later when more serialized shows were popping up
This is one of those instances where one persons opinion influenced alot of people into blind hate, that linkara video really made this show get overhated.
I do hope my perspective can help people to not flip their opinion on its head largely, but open a lot of minds to how these series are approached
If it happened with Jungle Fury, maybe it could happen again 🤷🏿♂️
This season gets a lot of hate but it has so much charm. Everyone on the team is so dumb it's genuinely hilarious.
I never had a pricier
Problem with this season
This show is just hilariously awesome.
