One consistently disappointing meal at McDonald’s for $18 versus a $12 all you can eat Chinese buffet…
You are right, We ate at a buffet two seniors just got water to drink and was 21.48 for two people all you can eat . Health wise a buffet with salad is better than a greasy fast food meal.
Chinese all you can buffets range from $22-$30 so no its not cheaper

If anyone really thinks that any of these places are going to cut into their profits & absorb the extra cost, then you are delusional.
It's all about the money
Just wait till they realize they can raise costs and they aren't losing that many customers. Suddenly it's nationwide costs but workers aren't getting paid $20/hr elsewhere. Def all about the money
@Retrogradez90 Only temporary. When it comes to feeding your family & there is little to no money left, the people will not be going out. So many businesses are going to suffer as things keeps getting worse

@@theshirtlesssilver3250doesn’t always work that way dude. You may want to check into reality and pay. Fast food workers absolutely do not need 20 an hour for a job with no training. However an education does not insure a pay rate high enough for what they may need if they have a family.

@@Knightcraft42the cost of living in California is the highest in the country. It should match on some level. 25-26/hr isnt much no offense and it doesn’t make anything more expensive that’s never been a thing. Cost of living has been going up astronomically for decades with pay rate only moving recently but not at a consistent rate at all to match the cost if living. 20/hr was a lot in the 80s for a family of 4 owning a house and going on vacations comfortably. There were minimum wage jobs back then that could afford you a house. Today thats very different. Also most educated qualified people in California are making 6 figures.

chipotle's ceo makes a staggering $38 million. that's obviously disproportionately high. however, chipotle has 116,000 employees. if the CEO made $0, that would be like $330 per employee, once per YEAR. i get that CEOs make too much, but I'm so sick of you people and your arguments that just display the fact you cant do simple gd math. at the end of the day, an increase of 30% more operating costs has to come from somewhere, and removing the CEO salary ain't gonna do it. so yes, the price will go up because of the workers
CEOs are not Scrooge McDuck swimming in a money vault. That whole "X number of billions" in revenue doesn't tell the whole story.
A typical fast food *restaurant* only pulls in 5-8 cents for every dollar the restaurant makes. The CEO is rich cause he owns a million restaurants bit if the government says "increase your operating costs" and that Nicole disappears as a result, what's the point in keeping any MacDonalds in California open?

@TheGreatSalsaMan you've commented 25 times to people on this. You must be miserable
If the government didn't make it so damn hard to start a business someone else would open up and force their prices down in competition. It's interesting how other countries already raised the wages and the prices didn’t change much.
Fast food has steadily increased in cost. While the ceos gain massive profits.
Personally I think people should all quit fast food and should go after the jobs of the people who say get a real job.
People shouldn't have to work multiple jobs to still be in poverty.
As someone who managed 55 employees at a McDonalds at 19 then left for a lower hourly wage to start a first year apprenticeship I say bring it on. You know why? my job is not in ANY WAY at risk to the people you are talking about.
As a manager at McDonald's I had to talk to adults TWICE MY AGE about how badly they stink. That was awkward, here's a hack to start that conversation with a 40 year old man when you are 16 years old if you ever need to.
Start by asking them if they washed their uniform before work that day, they will of course look down to see if it is dirty and say "why, is it dirty" which it isn't of course that's not the issue it's the fact an adult doesn't know they need to put on deodorant before work so you say "no it just smells a bit like BO" then they say "oh ya, I forgot to put on deodorant today" then you say "ya, it's been a few times before today as well, just make sure you are putting it on"
I left McDonald's making over 20 an hour at 19 years old to start an electrical apprentice ship for less money per hour. I worked a 10-4 shift but had to travel on one of the days off back up to work so it was more like 11-3. 132 hours of work per every two weeks in the elements from -33C to +35C in northern Alberta 1200 km away from home. Made 100k as a first year electrician with my LOA (living out allowance)
Now the reason why I say in all seriousness without any feeling of a a threat at any job of a person who says this is because the ADULTS WHO MAKE MINIMUM WAGE are the lazy, clueless, no initiative, no drive people who want to work an easy, comfortable (heated and air conditioned buildings) only 8 hours a day 40 hours a week, 5 minute drive from their front door job.
They pose literally ZERO threat to our jobs because NOTHING WAS STOPPING YOU FROM DOING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. The reason why I made 100k dollars a year as a 19 year old first year electrician is because you didn't want to work that much, that far from home, in those working conditions.
Honestly it's such a cute threat that it would make me chuckle if not for the fact such a large portion of the population is that clueless to think they are being held back.
Go work 1200 km away from you bed and family for 66+ hours per week and you can buy 7 acres with a house and barn in your mid twenties too.
Now I joined the privileged folks and only work 40 hours a week but I was working more hours a year from 14-18 than my own father while being top 3 in my class so I burnt out earlier than most people but I got my property before Trudeau pumped up the housing in my country with the millions of immigrants he brought in so it worked out well for me.
Nothing will get cheaper it's always better to grind now while you're younger than it is to wait for things to get better.
If anyone who is actually willing to work long hours in the hot and cold wants tips on getting a good paying job feel free to ask I'm more than willing to help, no adult should be working a minimum wage job if you're not content.
Precisely. Where i live, McD pays 25-30$, a meal costs less than in the US, corporate tax is higher and McD still makes a good profit here.
No other country pays 20 a hour. If they don't like there job, maybe they should put in a little effort and learn a skill. I guess it's easyer to cry then try 😂
well they are sitting in the legally mandated monopoly niche. Nobody can challenge them because of how expensive and hard it is just to think about openning up shop and joining a franchise means being part of that monopoly.

While the beef is with McDonalds the franchisee is the one getting squeezed and will eventually fold up the tent.
So, did you really think that management and stock holders were going to pay for the idea of a 17 yr. old burger flipper getting what could be a 40K wage? Forget low prices, forget 40 hour work weeks.
Build more houses/housing in cities and ban foreign investors. It would be a 1000 times more effective in helping than raising the minimum wage.
Now I respect the hard working workers for the minimum wage in every fast food restaurants, but increasing the wage to 20 dollars will bring less customers to the restaurant and if the wage were less than 20 dollars, then they'd be more customers coming to buy because they would rather buy food for less or cheap price than rather saying they're quite expensive to take.
I’m am not paying that much money for McDonald’s
They 100% can pay employees properly without screwing us over
Do they really think they will just eat the extra cost? No, they will always pass that onto the customer. There is no point in raising minimum wage, it only hurts everyone that doesn’t get minimum wage, which is most of us.
So true, my country has repeatedly raised min wage in the last months and I always say it's us the customers (in other words, the other workers) who pay for that.

What was the point of raising the wage if the price of everything else will raise
also their back to square one.
This means More order kiosk , more automation
Reduced working hours for staff
and mass layoffs
And higher prices for customers
Eventually all struggling customer will pay for it and not companies 😬🤦🏻.
Hahaha its minimum wage if you drive it up everything is worth less getting a real job is essentially America and the dream the American dream people just can't deal with that smh
Sooo real question, will you be more or less mad now when they leave the bbq out or give you the wrong drink?? Lmfao 🤣
They have already raised prices even before the wage increase.
Laughable...they'll cut hours, perks, raise prices, introduce order kiosks and even robots...reduce reliance on human employees...labor is a major cost driver of any business.
They will raise prices? All the executives have to do is lower some of their own unnecessary and fashionable expenses for a day so workers can get their weeks wage, or even more, a months wage
Making more money = increased prices, which leads to higher inflation.
This simple economics
Revenue is not equal to net income. It ignores the wage increase. Net income = revenue - expenses
And McDonalds can’t just make 15billion in profits to offset the wage increase. Like 20billion dollars is not enough. When is enough profit’s enough?
