I'm a guy and Its so hard to find other guys talking about rbt stuff. Not that I'm against working in a female dominated field at all, but a part of me has felt nervous cause I almost feel like, as a man, I don't belong in this field. Which I know logically is dumb, but it still helps to see other men doing this sorta work. Its definitely helped ease my nerves. So thanks for the video my man, please keep making your content!

Do you have your own business in this field? I know this is a personal question, but I'm located in Florida. Just starting my career as an RBT and would like to work at a company that gives a person all the necessary tools and guidance to be successful, long-term.

Just recently discovered this field. I grew up with a sister with autism and unfortunately, she never got the help she needed. I want other kids that are like her to get the help they need, and I want to be someone to help them. Thanks so much for the video homie. Gonna start looking into becoming certified and go from there

Hi Ricky! I’m new to your channel and loving it. I’ve been an RBT for almost 4 years now and worked with children for 12. My first client ever was in-home and I had no training or shadowing. I was doing the 40 hour course and testing sites were closed due to Covid, so I wasn’t even technically an RBT yet. I didn’t know that companies not offering shadowing opportunities or training was a big red flag at the time as I was just starting out and thought that being thrown in was how it was done. Thank you for adding that bit of information to this video because my current company proved the importance of ongoing training and shadowing which I hadn’t known when I started. Hopefully this video will help future RBTs recognize the red flags!! Thank you again!

Amazing video man. As a black man myself working in this field going on 2 years (BT). Going for me RBT I’m looking forward to the rest of your videos. I currently work at a mental hospital so I work with a wide range of ages and usually there already in a bad mode etc. So I’m just used to working in a hectic and hostile environment. I’m trying to get a feel for what working for a school or company will be like and going to peoples homes.

This happened to me as well when I first started. I felt like the training was so fast that when it was time to interact with the kiddos I was lost and confused. I did get to shadow tho. Great video thank you.

You're right. The BACB was founded in 1998. It is a new feild but valid like speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. ABA therapy is an evidence based intervention that is proven to help those with autism and other developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges. It's new and it's changing a lot. According to the website, "BACB’s mission is to protect consumers of behavior-analytic services by systematically establishing, promoting, and disseminating professional standards of practice."
