Took quite a long time for people to realise simple truth - game was dead from the start. Devs are incompetent clowns, game engine just doesnt work, zero content for years. Funniest thing is - it will be the same on consoles. They couldn't learn what to do with the game on PC for 3 years neither they will for consoles.

New World turned out to be such a disappointment, after the rise of the angry earth update I saw the roadmap and realized these people don't care or listen at all. Jut recycling the same content over and over with a different skin.
My m3 teammates were invisible to me during the run and only way I saw them were the dots on their back. I didn’t even react cause of how many bugs are in the game.

Copium went out the window with the summer fest shenanigans; and hopium stuck up its middle finger with the Dev video. I realize now that “WE,” the community, kept this game alive. But life support can only go but so far. 😢
Fun fact. Star citizen does not use the lumberyard engine anymore. They completely rebuild the lumberyard engine to the starenginr or how it is called because lumberyard sucked so bad. So it is officially their own new engine

I love NW, but the reaction by Asmongold almost makes it worth it. Love your take on all of this. Like you, I am looking for a new MMO, but none of them quite hit the mark with a combination of action combat, fantasy setting, non-cartooney characters, and not pay to win. I hate this because NW is one of my favorite games in terms of time period. I love the weapons... I was waiting for pistols too. The pirate theme... a rapier combat that is just superior to rapiers in other games... NW will go down in history as having the biggest potential for an MMO.
Game is fun gameplay wise but it gets repetitive and boring fast. It’s a mob farming simulator and PvP is kind of pay to win. But anything’s better than new world so have fun.
im sure they can restrict the zone to 1v1's and lock you in to damage only 2 people can do to each other like runescape. they already have the combat timer. You would be surprised how many ppl play solo and want a mode for them. this is fresh and new, way better then an opr map. something for the non zerglings. they will figure it out

Great video man. You presented the whole issue very clear - especially to someone who hasn’t followed in a long time. One thing I think is bad with this release too is that I’m someone who hasn’t been convinced to come back since launch and so I haven’t bought the expansion yet. They have to convince me to spend $30 to play this “new content” and it just doesn’t seem worth it - especially after watching this video and seeing the community at large reaction.
I play New World for a couple of reasons, the pvp and the classless system. And when it comes to pvp the end game is war. I'm not one of those people who gets regularly slotted for war. OPR is nice but it is the same thing over and over again and it isn't war. What I have been wanting for years now is for them to make their best content, war content available to more people. I don't they realize that the pvp part of the game is what makes it stand it out. They really don't appreciate their pvp players.
I been only war logging the past year and will continue to do so until game dies, game would of been much better with any other studio, hope the current team once the game dies never get another job in the industry again and LOTR flops and they just admit theyre dogshit, never seen a worse dev studio in my entire life, imagine not taking advantage of being the only action combat MMO and putting actual effort into the game and releasing regular content. Ill just be waiting and hoping AoC is decent enough to move to or ill be going back to FPS games, actual let down.
What is the difficulty for them to make a few OPR maps? I remember back like 20 years ago I was custom making COD maps for my private servers, as a player, yet they cant' do it as devs for their own game.

This was the biggest let down ever. I’ve been waiting for a new PvP mode/map announcement for over 2 years. They know what the community wants yet deliver absolutely nothing. It’s hard to say whether this game can make a recovery or not. It’s possible that through the rebranding on console it picks up momentum and becomes popular again. The only problem is that if they continue to deliver the same terrible quality that they have been, it will surely die. If somehow after this rerelease they can produce quality updates with actual content in a timely manner then I can see the game doing well. I doubt it.
In regards to the pvp island, they should implement the same system as the wild in runescape. Parts of the zone should be singles , and some parts multi combat. In singles once you engage in combat with a player it essentially locks you guys in a duel essentially. Once combat is done you have a small 5 second or less timer where you can't get hit again or something. In multi they can allow for ganking and XvX Basically AGS just needs to take all the systems from osrs and implement into game lol.
It doesn’t matter if the PvP zone or new raid is good. This is all way too little and way too late. They needed a complete overhaul of many systems and weapons, and a shit ton of content on top of that. To sit there and be gaslit by people saying “it’s not just a console port, you’re getting content stop overreacting” is insane to me.
I quit when they nerfed sns, came back for the expansion and quit again when they nerfed shirking heals. Whomever was keeping bow/musket better than melee killed it.
They are rebranding as an RPG so as to not have the expectation of future updates. It's one final cash grab. It's over we lost. The console players will leave for the same reasons that the majority of PC players left.
They are abandoning the MMORPG players and repackaging the game for a new audience of console players. They don't need to announce new content because they can relaunch on console with what they have. This is corpo "strategic" bullshit. The current player base is no longer the intended audience unless you are willing to eat the shit sandwich and pretend this relaunch is a brand new game. Every aspect of this game is a workaround for their incompetence and this relaunch is just another example of that.
Also pissed off, everything true to what you are saying, just a little correction, they said there is gonna be some kind of "extraction mechanic" to get out of the pvp zone.
The few streamers and youtubers that still made New World content finally realizing the game was never going to get good, lol love to see it. Yup, I'm not a big PvP player but I did get a taste of the Musket Union when our guild was helping another guild in a Race and one of the enemy guilds is a notorious Musket Aim Bot cheater group and it was the least fun thing I did in a long time. For casual players it is a major turn off and you are 100% right, it will be one giant camping zone.
I think the open pvp map is bad because of everything you said. Better would have been matchmaking in OPR and Arenas and good rewards. Maybe also another pvp mode and wars more for everyone.

I also knew the announcement would be quite light and uneventful besides console ports, it was obvious. Mecrow/Odity/Baggins/etc hyped the June announcement even harder than AGS thesmelves... The devs have probably spent the past year porting it and will most likely spend the next year fixing all the console bugs that show up. They can't release steady content because they've been trying to mend all their fuckups. I honestly don't know why players held any hope at all, we all know how incompetent AGS devs are.

Dont sleep on T&L just because AGS is the publisher. The studio (NCSoft) has been pushing a lot of content, balance patches, changes to PVP to ensure more fair play vs largest zerg wins etc, new zone annouced (Zones are huge) and the game is actually fun.
Console players being lumped in with PC players is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. They'll basically never get a chance to experience wars and if they do.. good luck with the horrendous FPS they'll be pulling. They'll never be able to compete against PC players. The FFA island needs to have boats/portals around the area to extract or something. At the end of the day.. New World will never turn it around until they get a new group to lead the dev team. It's been years of good ideas paired with wildly incompetent moves.
Whole Heartedly agree, it definitely seems there were three primary issues. Management, Engine, and a constant state of playing catchup. They've been playing catchup because of the initial pivot to a MMO was rushed (probably because of management). The engine they're using is a giant piece of shit no one wanted to work with and is notoriously bad for having abysmal documentation and is slow to develop for. That with the game of catchup they're playing means this task is sisyphean and further management choices of doubling down in their lies instead of accepting the position they're in cemented their fate. Its a shame because the foundation was good, but shit management rushed them into piling more and more shit on a questionable foundation.
OPR map. A pvp zone with teams (so faction combat, all the time) with capture points and a reason to be there. Well designed, placed correctly on the map. Think Planetside 2, but in New World. But nope. We get the absolute lowest amount of effort from devs who just. *Do. Not. Care.* Dead game. I'm past the point of pity and comfortably residing in apathy at this point.

Pc wise most of it’s community is gone, but console it will thrive. Keep in mind consoles are WAY more budget friendly than pc’s. Let alone pc’s that have minimum specs for modern games. So I believe the servers will be full for a very long time thanks to the console players. I’ll get back to playing once they release a full expansion. Until then I hope console players enjoy.
I'm not sure AGS really cares if the last 7k leaves the game. They've already confirmed NW Aeternum as a new game, ignoring the fact that NW has been out for the last 3 years or how long it has been. I tried going back to D2 a few months after bailing on NW January-ish… it’s so over done now. It’s just an electric light show of infinite abilities and spam. It so basic of a game in a way that just makes it boring, imo. That said I played new world the past few days leading into the June announcement hoping to get back into, but it has really lost its luster and the inputs for combat seem worse than ever. I am blown away away we waited til June for this… gotta laugh. Good news is I have been finding time to do other things in my life. No hard feelings NW was a blast while it lasted.
This game died after 2 month of release. Its been in decline since then, we just reached peak lie and scam from this “devs”. But it was always like that. Deserve to go for good. Just play other games.
@@mecr0w Fair enough, I imagine that's similar to the feeling of the people who leave negative reviews after 2,000+ hours (although, those people probably also have their own demons independent of New World). I've enjoyed following the game from a Systems Engineering perspective and imagining what's going on behind the scenes to cause all the problems we've experienced, but I've given up hope that this specific dev team is capable of creating a successful game. It's kind of freeing, because I'm looking forward to checking back every week until October 15th to see what crazy thing the devs decide to do next, without being concerned about investing any more time into the actual game.

BDO has been my new goto. Actual action combat being fun. Capheon ball also comes out late this month and its the best event to start playing.

This was the biggest let down ever. I’ve been waiting for a new PvP mode/map announcement for over 2 years. They know what the community wants yet deliver absolutely nothing. It’s hard to say whether this game can make a recovery or not. It’s possible that through the rebranding on console it picks up momentum and becomes popular again. The only problem is that if they continue to deliver the same terrible quality that they have been, it will surely die. If somehow after this rerelease they can produce quality updates with actual content in a timely manner then I can see the game doing well. I doubt it.
With the reputation NW has i doubts console players will dare to buy and deal with the headache PC community has face for 3 years already.
In regards to the pvp island, they should implement the same system as the wild in runescape. Parts of the zone should be singles , and some parts multi combat. In singles once you engage in combat with a player it essentially locks you guys in a duel essentially. Once combat is done you have a small 5 second or less timer where you can't get hit again or something.
In multi they can allow for ganking and XvX
Basically AGS just needs to take all the systems from osrs and implement into game lol.

It doesn’t matter if the PvP zone or new raid is good. This is all way too little and way too late.
They needed a complete overhaul of many systems and weapons, and a shit ton of content on top of that.
To sit there and be gaslit by people saying “it’s not just a console port, you’re getting content stop overreacting” is insane to me.
I quit when they nerfed sns, came back for the expansion and quit again when they nerfed shirking heals. Whomever was keeping bow/musket better than melee killed it.
They are rebranding as an RPG so as to not have the expectation of future updates. It's one final cash grab. It's over we lost. The console players will leave for the same reasons that the majority of PC players left.
They are abandoning the MMORPG players and repackaging the game for a new audience of console players. They don't need to announce new content because they can relaunch on console with what they have. This is corpo "strategic" bullshit. The current player base is no longer the intended audience unless you are willing to eat the shit sandwich and pretend this relaunch is a brand new game. Every aspect of this game is a workaround for their incompetence and this relaunch is just another example of that.

The few streamers and youtubers that still made New World content finally realizing the game was never going to get good, lol love to see it. You guys really had major Stockholm Syndrome, to be honest. I hope whoever is left knows what's going to happen next. Console release will be broken, they'll spend the next year trying to fix it so they'll have no time to create actual new content, and the console playerbase will also peace out. LotR MMO is going to be the same trash.

Yup, I'm not a big PvP player but I did get a taste of the Musket Union when our guild was helping another guild in a Race and one of the enemy guilds is a notorious Musket Aim Bot cheater group and it was the least fun thing I did in a long time. For casual players it is a major turn off and you are 100% right, it will be one giant camping zone.
I think the open pvp map is bad because of everything you said. Better would have been matchmaking in OPR and Arenas and good rewards. Maybe also another pvp mode and wars more for everyone.

i play this game casually once or twice a week but i've seen a few of your most recent videos and i don't get all the grievances the 4 content creators left have with this announcement, based on leaks we all got what we were expecting, no? i mean i don't follow new world content as much anymore but i still knew how the announcement would go.

For the past several months they kept saying "We can't tell you what's coming keep tuned for June" and the announcement is basically nothing except console ports. For enfranchised players, this is meaningless. When they address the community for months, why say wait for June when there isn't anything for them in June? Let alone from June-Oct when the port actually launches.

I also knew the announcement would be quite light and uneventful besides console ports, it was obvious. Mecrow/Odity/Baggins/etc hyped the June announcement even harder than AGS thesmelves... The devs have probably spent the past year porting it and will most likely spend the next year fixing all the console bugs that show up. They can't release steady content because they've been trying to mend all their fuckups. I honestly don't know why players held any hope at all, we all know how incompetent AGS devs are.

Dont sleep on T&L just because AGS is the publisher. The studio (NCSoft) has been pushing a lot of content, balance patches, changes to PVP to ensure more fair play vs largest zerg wins etc, new zone annouced (Zones are huge) and the game is actually fun.

Console players being lumped in with PC players is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. They'll basically never get a chance to experience wars and if they do.. good luck with the horrendous FPS they'll be pulling. They'll never be able to compete against PC players.

At the end of the day.. New World will never turn it around until they get a new group to lead the dev team. It's been years of good ideas paired with wildly incompetent moves.
Whole Heartedly agree, it definitely seems there were three primary issues. Management, Engine, and a constant state of playing catchup. They've been playing catchup because of the initial pivot to a MMO was rushed (probably because of management). The engine they're using is a giant piece of shit no one wanted to work with and is notoriously bad for having abysmal documentation and is slow to develop for. That with the game of catchup they're playing means this task is sisyphean and further management choices of doubling down in their lies instead of accepting the position they're in cemented their fate.
Its a shame because the foundation was good, but shit management rushed them into piling more and more shit on a questionable foundation.
OPR map. A pvp zone with teams (so faction combat, all the time) with capture points and a reason to be there. Well designed, placed correctly on the map. Think Planetside 2, but in New World.

Me and a friend logged in yesterday , just to Arena, haven't been on since Slayer script..... wtf did they do lol .... PvP was good before ... now I'm getting hit in i-Frames and stuff jolting all over lol
Pc wise most of it’s community is gone, but console it will thrive. Keep in mind consoles are WAY more budget friendly than pc’s. Let alone pc’s that have minimum specs for modern games.
So I believe the servers will be full for a very long time thanks to the console players.
I’ll get back to playing once they release a full expansion. Until then I hope console players enjoy.
I'm not sure AGS really cares if the last 7k leaves the game. They've already confirmed NW Aeternum as a new game, ignoring the fact that NW has been out for the last 3 years or how long it has been. It's sad and scummy that we've been treated like shit and now gotten slapped in the face with the big announcement that was inevitable just a letdown.
It is 100% systemic and leadership problem. Anyone who works in field does notice this for long time already. Game is dead mainly bc of low quality top managment.
Also been playing Albion lately. The P2W kind of ruins any incentive to grind - so what is left is only doing what is fun.
Great economy/ crafting systems. Game has a good ecosystem and I like the TTK in general. The full loot is fine cause how the game is balanced

Sad days... it sucks for existing players, but they do need to try to find a new audience for the game. They totally could've handled the execution and communication of all this better. It's never been something they were good at.
I tried going back to D2 a few months after bailing on NW January-ish… it’s so over done now. It’s just an electric light show of infinite abilities and spam. It so basic of a game in a way that just makes it boring, imo. That said I played new world the past few days leading into the June announcement hoping to get back into, but it has really lost its luster and the inputs for combat seem worse than ever. I am blown away away we waited til June for this… gotta laugh. Good news is I have been finding time to do other things in my life. No hard feelings NW was a blast while it lasted.
This game died after 2 month of release. Its been in decline since then, we just reached peak lie and scam from this “devs”. But it was always like that. Deserve to go for good. Just play other games.

@@mecr0w Fair enough, I imagine that's similar to the feeling of the people who leave negative reviews after 2,000+ hours (although, those people probably also have their own demons independent of New World).
I've enjoyed following the game from a Systems Engineering perspective and imagining what's going on behind the scenes to cause all the problems we've experienced, but I've given up hope that this specific dev team is capable of creating a successful game. It's kind of freeing, because I'm looking forward to checking back every week until October 15th to see what crazy thing the devs decide to do next, without being concerned about investing any more time into the actual game.

All this console release is a final cash grab to pad the books. They know it won't last but its a cash influx. The engine/dev team can't pump content out fast enough for this mmo to work. A dungeon and reskinned zone a year or 2 wont keep players and thats all they can do. I knew this years ago, thats why I quit. I came back for " major " patches...broken as always. WIthin a week all the content is cleared and back to something else. Game sucks, dev team sucks, engine sucks...sooner yall move onto something better the happier youll be
