The Insitute for the Study of War (ISW) called the ceasefire in Lebanon that went into effect yesterday (Wednesday) a "defeat" for the Hezbollah, as it did not achieve its goals of forcing Israel to end its military campaign in Gaza or secure an agreement that Israel would no longer carry out military attacks in Lebanon in response to Hezbollah's attempts to rebuild and rearm. "This ceasefire and its terms are tantamount to a Hezbollah defeat," the ISW wrote in a report on the ceasefire. why do people keep saying "israel has a ceasefire with lebanon"?
its hezbollah they have a ceasefire with, not lebanon. hezbollah is not part of the lebanese state.
and on top of that, hezbollah already violated the ceasefire by moving units and weapons south of the agreed line in 50+ cases.
Hezbollah is absolutely a part of the Lebanese state, it holds office in its partilament and legislative body.

"Hezbollah has abandoned several previously-held ceasefire negotiation positions, reflecting the degree to which IDF military operations have forced Hezbollah to abandon its war aims. Hezbollah initiated its attack campaign targeting Israel in October 2023 to support Hamas, and Hezbollah’s leaders have said repeatedly that it would not end its attacks without a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This ceasefire does not include an end to Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip.
Holy Moses it's the IDF!!!!

Negotiating with Hezbollah is a fool's errand. But why does the West insist Israel negotiate? Dis we negotiate with the Taliban? Did we negotiate with ISIS? Of course not! So why does the West expect, even demand (inappropriately), that Israel negotiate with Hezbollah and Hamas? It is sickening.

They'll likely do that one soon. Usually their videos are released a few days behind current events.

Hopefully optimistic!😮
The fact that Israel isn't moving its citizens back in shows their view of the Ceasefire's durability
Gaza is not incircled by Israel - the have a border with Egypt
The saddest part is, it won't last long.
Both Israel and hezbollah have other priorities in Syria
It's simple.
It takes an army time to safely evacuate from a forward position (the agreement gave the IDF 60 days). In that time, the ceasefire agreement did and should prohibit others from approaching close to said retreating forces.
This is the same kind of deal that was agreed in Gaza after two months of fighting.

"Despite racking up high civilian casualties in the process" = FALSE. Civilian casualty rate of Israel's targeted strikes in Lebanon was incredibly low. Israel warned the population about nearly all strikes in advance, including precise maps and ample time to evacuate. On smaller tactical strikes against remote or moving targets Israel used only smart weapons, mostly choosing small diameter munition over larger ones.
well both can be true. small numbers relative to other wars is still a lot of dead people. war kills people, i don't know why everyone seems so suprised by that.
Right, when people started calling the pager attack “indiscriminate”, I started to realize normal people were losing their minds around this issue.
@@yaosteenI want you to think of Bush era post 9/11. Let's say the Taliban or ISIS found a way to target American troops while back in the states. And they exploded every soldiers cell phone or whatever...
There were some off duty soldiers driving with their families and they all died in the explosion and the crash killed other people in their immediate viscosity.
Another soldier was at the super market and his explosion led to mass panic and an elderly lady was trampled by fleeing people.
Another soldier asked his 6 year old daughter to grab his ringing phone and it exploded in her face killing her.
Now imagine ALL of this happened at once across the US to five thousand off duty soldiers.
Would the news say "ISIS/Taliban brilliantly pulled off a fantastically brazen attack and we should give em all credit for how ingenious they are for pulling it off!"?
Or... Would the news correctly report... "Off duty American soldiers killed/maimed in a terrorist act committed by ISIS/Taliban... Many civilians caught up in the explosions!"

Both Hamas and Hezbollah crying for a ceasefire mere month or even weeks after themselves being the ones who provoked Israel's actions, and realizing that those infidels were not scared at all of obliterating them, will never not be funny to me. Not that Israel is innocent at all, they were legitimately *shaking* in anticipation of such attacks to let loose.
