I was a little bewildered at 1:10 when the fork was reading 41.8 amps until I realized later it was a 10X line splitter. Thanks for the video!
LOL! Yes, if you're using a X10 line splitter divide by 10. :)
Lol me too. I was like whaaaat.
I bought this meter a year and a half ago, ( may2019 ), and had trouble convincing my boss that it was an upgrade to the T-5 and worth the investment. I lost that job and didnt use the meter untill about a month and a half ago when i became employed again. Its easy to use, compact, and is fabulous for troubleshooting. at my new job, a non-contact voltage tester and my T-6 is all i use and i am very happy with it.
Why did you have to convince your boss that it was worth the investment? If you want the little extra feature then buy it yourself, but if I had to buy it for someone else then no its not worth the investment when the t5 can read voltage, current, and resistance just as fine
Hi Bill, this is a great review and I'm going to get myself a T6-1000 for the field sense and kilo ohms. A note on using test leads, I was taught to always connect the earth or neutral first and then the hot wire to get a reading. Respect to your channel, I'm subscribing.
Just bought one used for 120 i think i got a huge deal! 👍
Good choice!
Also paid $120 nib from a discount retailer. Haven't tried it out yet but the price is good
Oath bro ther like $300 new
@@sk3tchimdg3t33 bruh I got mine for like 550. It was cooked
@@onlyfindlay1275 cuz i have 2 spares im selling em second hand for $175 you got ripped not to be rude though
Good morning Bill. Great video.. I’m happy to see that your subscriber list is growing . Have a great weekend....
Hi Bill! Yes, it's up to 700 now. I'm very happy about that. You have a great weekend as well!
Do you have to touch a ground with your other hand? How does the ground contact work if your finger is on it but your body isn’t grounded like if you have rubber boots on?
This could replace a multimeter and amp clamp? I see there is a regular and PRO version?
Good morning Bill. Glad to see you back. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Best wishes to you and your family.
Thanks so much! Best wishes to you and your family as well!
bought one of these a year ago and have used it twice and never for the field sense. like my fluke 324 plus
Which one do you think is the best (has all of what I need) and easy to use? I am not looking for the cheapest one, just for the right one, but it is always got to save some cash when possible, all am planning to do is residential, thank you for your videos
Fluke t6 or fluke 902
can you test over a whole wire (outer jacket not removed) to get the voltage reading?
The only thig about field sense is that when you are troubleshooting it doesnt tell you there is a bad neutral if that was the case thats why i dont use hot sticks you may have voltage but there is no neutral.
Come on guy, a bad neutral? Thats where the experience comes in to play. No meter will ever be able to find the exact trouble spot. That would take the fun out of trouble shooting
Hopeful indeed!
that metter read low voltage... ?
Is it possible to put the hot and the neutral wire between the forks and get your voltage reading and also between 2 phases?
Just put one wire at a time between the forks.
I ordered this and after that watched AvE video where he called this garbage. I guess I'll have to judge it myself when it arrives. Have you had problems with it?
Mine works great.
how do you get yours to show volts and amps on the field sense? mine only shows one not both?
I think it’s because he has the t6-1000 model.
I can’t wait to get t6-1000, not the pro version. The Pro version is missing a ground plate. The ground plate is a must-have feature, which most people do not realize why 🤦♂️
Great Meter, a game changer , which you brought to my attention !
Hi Chris! Yes, I'm amazed by this technology.
I had one. Didn’t like the field sense. Barely worked. And times that it’s useful it’s hard to get it in tight spaces. Overall good meter though for basics and residential. I Like the probe holder. Also quality leads on it. But for commercial/industrial get something with a bigger amprobe and capacitance. Or get a second meter.
Thank you for making great video 👍
Good morning, I would love to see the video you published not long ago about the fluke meter that had the FC feature and logging capability that you were demonstrating in your kitchen if it hasn't ended up lost in cyberspace... Maybe it was a 376 model? Love your videos!
Good morning Scott! I have 2 Fluke FC meters, the 289 which is a larger bench style meter that is extremely accurate and the 902FC which is a HVAC clamp meter, very portable, and you can get graphs on your cell phone. Which one are you most interested in? I have all those videos on my hard drive. You might also remember by what kitchen appliance I was testing. I think my fav was the one where I was broiling a rib eye steak in a toaster oven and following the amp usage because it was delicious! LOL! Let me know and I'll get it back up.
Sparky Channel one thing I’m interested in being able to do is measure DC current. In addition to the typical electrician functions that I normally use I play around with solar, also it would be nice to troubleshoot some of the LED tape lighting that I’ve been installing recently.
Thanks!
Question what is the best fluke multimeter for an Electrician? If I buy the Fluke 87-V max would that be a bad choice?
What's your budget?
The money isn't the problem I have my eyes on the 117/323 combo kit and the 87-V max but I just don't know which to choose?
@@hosainparchment5692 The 87-V is geared more towards electronics. For electrician work you'll save money and be better served by the 117
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
Very nice meter I love fluke how much for it
Is that ok for an apprenticeship???
I presume it measures Line Voltage rather than phase voltage? And is it affected by extra thick insulation?
You're correct on both.
Excellent explanation. Thank you somuch
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video. You explained it just about as well as possible. Thanks Sparky.
Hi Gary! It's an amazing meter.
@@SparkyChannel Amazing is definitely accurate. Anytime you can get simultaneous measurements on the same screen from same meter is great. And the safety factor for voltage without exposed contact points is certainly a plus.
Very good sir
Thanks!
I did the mistake of buying the T-600 and could not exchange it. now sits in a drawer forever.
I made the mistake thinking it would measure DC current draw, Sadly not.
@@alanblyde8502 : Mine didn't measure ohms, just continuity.
You sold me in it I was in the fence
👍
Viva Christo Rey
Man wish it did capacitance!
The dilog combivolt 5 does and diode tests amongst it's range of tests, but the test leads looked cheap so I got a T6
👍
