Ireland’s first airmail stamps were the Vox Hiberniae series first issued in 1948. #philately #stamp #airmail #ireland #irish #hibernia #vox #stpatrick #angel #rockofcashel
Early Irish stamps are confusing with the different sized overprints plus I am partially color deficient so trying to tell the difference between the black and the blue black overptints is impossible for me.
Nice editing and a lot of information. Really interesting to learn about Irish stamps, something I don't know much about! Ireland does feel like a country which one is able to complete, right?
Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked the video. Yes, Ireland is a reasonable target for anyone wanting a complete collection. I tend to limit myself to stamps up till the late 70s or so.
Thanks. I was born and raised in Australia, but spent about 25 years in Killarney. My dad was from there, and also my wife. Great place. We are back in Brisbane now.
25 years is a considerable period of time. I lived and worked in Manly for a few years and miss the weather and climate terribly. As you know, it only rains twice a week in Ireland, once for 3 days and then the second time for 4 days. One summer, my girlfriend and I drove from Darwin to Brisbane and then back home to NSW. …oh to be young once again. lol
Great video! Interesting and informative. I enjoyed watching it. Loved the classic airmail stamps. It is the first time I see an angels on airmail stamps. Thanks for the video!
Very nice 😊! For some reason 🇮🇪 Ireland appeals to me. Some of the early issues are breathtaking. Artist 👨🎨 skills are top tier
I totally agree. I used to live in Ireland and love their early issues.

Yes, they can be confusing. I still have a lot to go through yet.

Great background information on the airmail issues, Dennis. I live in Ireland and never knew this; mind you, I don’t collect Irish stamps per se. lol

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm just getting started with videos and hopefully they will get better as I get more practice.
Your videos are already pretty good, but you will surely grow. Just keep at it! 🙂@@TheStampBox
