- I was stationed at Harvey Barracks, Kitzingen, "West Germany" in the late '80s. Before the fall of "the Wall". I last visited Harvey Barracks upon my return from Desert Shield/Desert Storm, in 1991. My next visit was this video, taken in August of 2022, 31 years later.
Was stationed there during 1975-78. 1st-3rd-64th-A company. Great times! Thanks for sharing.
APRIL 1960-January 1963 Harvey Barracks. 1st of the 68th Armor Berlin Wall Bunch!
Thank you for the memories I lived over in kitzingen from 69 to 73 my dad was stationed at Harvey barracks and I used to go over there there used to be a music room where you could go play musical instruments and me and my friends in a couple soldiers and Air Force men formed a band and if it looks different to you now it must really look different to me but once again thank you for the memories and God bless you and your family
Both of my parents are from West Berlin. My dad told me many stories about the German-American Volksfests and more. That manifested in an interest in ex US infrastructure in Germany. A couple of years ago, I lived in Kitzingen and took multiple trips to old US Barracks and Air Basis in the area. Very interesting to get some first hand experience after all those years. Thank you.
D Co 1/15 83-88. Thanks for the memories
Talking about going back. I was station at that exact location, from Feb '67 to Jul '68. (56 years ago). Bldg. No.124. My unit Co. C
1/15th Reg. 3rd ID. When you went thru that small tunnel way, those small windows on the left wall was my room. Having the last name
of Murphy, I had a lot to live up to, being it was (Audie Murphy's) old unit. Thank you so much, for this post. It brings back proud & found
memories to me.
I can't tell you how many times I walked through that breezeway in my 2 years there. It was the shortcut to the phone booths over by BN HQ. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@19D48D3 Thank you for your response. Murph (Forever A Dogface)
Dad was there from ‘83-‘90 assigned to the 66th. My mom and I were there from ‘84 to Nov ‘90. I stocked and drove the forklift for the shopette and Class 6 store from 87-90. Met a lot of great people there. Miss Germany terribly!

God that brings back memories. Was E co 1/15th '87 to '89.
We had some overlap time there. I'm sure we ran into each other at some point. I've got an unlisted video if you're interested.
@19D48D3 Definitely interested. Thnx brother.
I lived in the same barracks you did while I was waiting for command sponsor. You have a good memory because I wouldn't remember where the day room was
I grew up on a farm in eastern KY so this was about as different and foreign as could be. It's hard to forget something so pivotal in my life.
I was there in 1982…Larson Barracks.
Feel like Ancient One, Lol - 1960-1963 1st/68th Armor, Berlin Wall Bunch, 17 thru 20 years of age in Harvey Barracks. Going to be 82 this August 14th in couple of weeks. Still kicking some Butt, uh or trying Lol. OOOoooaahh!
I was there 1985-1990.
You are correct about the Maint building. It use to be the full time shop and everyone had to ground guide from the upper motor pool then it became the wheels when the new upper motor pool was finished. I was there 86-90.
Your name sounds familiar. Who were you assigned to?
@@19D48D3 hhc maint from 86 to 90
@@danielallard6560 then you probably remember Osbourne from Kentucky. Tall, glasses, was assigned to an 88 as far as I can remember. He was there 89 and was still there when I was transferred for Desert Shield/Storm in 90.
34 years not too much. 60 years for me.
I was there from 1998 to 2001. Except it was 1st ID then. I was in B 701st MSB. Fun fun fun.
Oh year...and I lived at Marshall Hieghts
I was Duran and Harmons Driver and some times Shinsekis!! my last name is Bunn...small world thanks for the video..
Small world indeed. Glad you liked it.
I was stationed at Harvey Barracks from May 1960 to Jan 1963,68th Armor Bn, 3rd ID, Echo Company. Berlin Wall Era.
Was there 76-78 RPC Wurzburg attached at HHC 2nd Brigade. Our Barracks was in front of the front gate.
My old duty station. I remember it just the way you described it...
Watched the change in about '99, the gates were guarded, the army personelle fearful and careful towards local visitors. Before that, locals could pass thru the Facilities whenever they wanted. Then around the turn of the millennium the public coexistence between the Americans and the local Germans ended. It was a sad development to watch
Was there, dependent, from early 86 to late 88. Husband was Cpt Don Kessler. 1/64-69 . He was the B Mo, then Co of Bravo , killed at Hohenfelds 20 Nov 88.
I was their when it happened. Tallos, Shear and Capt K…..RIP “Bandits”
I remember it well during the mid 70s. 11E10
HHC 1/64 and 1/69 87-89 Mortar Platoon... Man I miss that place
I was 203rd until decomitioned
in 91
My husband Rainer Pansegrau remembers you and all the others you mentioned. He was probably an old timer
Holy cow! I can't believe you're married to Pansegrau!! He was awesome. Him and his roommate Linton.
I was with the 3rd aviation co. from 4/60 to 10 62. You didn't get to the runway. I guess it's been demo'd. Great video
It's still there, just most of it is covered in solar panels.
Thanks for sharing. I was in C 1/15 from May 1985 to Dec 1987. We are headed back there in 10 days. I was there in 2015 but didn't get over to Harvey Barracks.
I wish I had more than 2 hours to poke around there. Would've loved to find some old haunts downtown and maybe even walk around Kloster Forst a bit. Glad you enjoyed it.
Was there when 1/15 moved and DISCOM moved in that last barracks you were pointin at was where I was in Bco 703d as a wheel mechanic.
I've often wondered what it was like after I left. (Desert Storm) I was in the first group to leave while the unit was in a deactivation status. Almost everyone was gone by the time we returned in July 1991.
I was in Bco3-63Armor down the street BLDG 118 if I remember correctly.86-89
That was a great time to be stationed at Harvey. Hope the video brought back some memories for you.
Those barracks were brand new after I got to hhc in 1982
I arrived in HHC in 1983 I was Commo
I was in C 1/64 armor from March 72 until March 1974.
I was in HQs 417 BSB 2001-2002
Do a good video of my town of Großlangheim
Building 182 has seen a LOT… by the mid-90’s it housed Bco 701st MSB
I was in the 701st
C1/15 was on the corner by the monument ant the phone booth use to be there
Are the buildings and office in use now? My parents were stationed here 95-99 we lived in Marshall Heights I loved living there 😢
Some of the buildings are occupied now, some not. They are turning Harvey into a "Technology Center". They were also housing a lot of Ukrainian refugees when I was there.
So sad it is a ghost town
Dude I was in headquarters and bravo 1983 to 1984. We just were getting the Bradley. Where you showed the temporary CP was where our little ass mess hall was in 1983/84. No combined dining yet. Curious if Beno's was still open when u were there
Maybe not. I don't know what Beno's was. Any more details to help my old memory?!?
@@19D48D3 it was a little gasthaus out the back unauthorized exit by 1/15 across the road. I remember they had the best schnitzel and a soup named by a drunk grunt "flashlight soup". It was a mother father and daughter her name was geisela. I was there from 20 yrs old to 22 when I got out of the Army. Out processed at Ft. Dix NJ. Now I'm 60. Time flies. Fyi I was commo back then it was 31V mos
