I spoke to Mike last spring about Atmos for my college thesis paper. He's an amazing person and an even better engineer.
Do you have any way to contact Mike? I'd love to know the max channal count for As It Was. I just adore that little ditty. It's got the vibes of my 23 year old next door neighbor Ciara. All of her. Her soft spoken soft warm kind caring jentle calm cool chill vibes. Also her teanie bubbly giggly girlie little 23 year old girl vibes. I'd love to experience the song in it's full Atmos glory. So if indeed it is 9.1 Atmos then it must be experienced on an Onkyo TXRZ 50 or even the new RZ 70. I'd also love to have Ciara with me when and if that happens too.
really cool interview! i came to this video not really understanding the point of atmos/surround mixing when it comes to music , since 99.9% of people have stereo (or even mono) speaker setups. after watching this whole vid now I want a fully treated and tuned atmos mixing room just to listen to music in

Great interview with awesome tips. I believe Mike mentioned not working with beds and only 3D objects as they sound more musical, but what I’ve missed is how you can add plugins or external gear into the 3D object. It seems that it was a physical insert on the track.

I've not heard much music in Atmos as I'm not subscribed to Apple music and I don't have an Onkyo RZ 70 to get the true experience. But from what I have heard either in peaces or from UA-cam channals that get stems and even multi tracks of songs yo Atmos is the way. Cause songs even 1s you would think are way too simple have so much that gets squashed in Stereo. What's more in a way Humans hear in Atmos. So it's like having the actual band around you.
