This wasn't diplomacy. We have diplomats for that. Nothing was accomplished today that a phone call or email couldn't take care of diplomacy wise. This isn't the culmination of real diplomacy resulting a treaty or agreement or anything.
No, it was nothing but pomp and circuses designed to introduce the world to America's new leader. It's little more than a show that someone else is in charge. Biden took the opportunity and failed to inspire competence or confidence in anyone who wasn't already a fanboi.

One of my many duties in the Navy (I am a retired Navy Master Chief) was with Special Warfare. I did some work with the Psy-Ops folks (Psychological Warfare Operations) and studied body language among other things. What I noticed - what stood WAY OUT to me - were three very telling things vis-a-vis body language and what it says about the person: 1. Biden nervously picking up something off the table (I guess it was his talking points) several times during that meeting w the press and handling it 2. Blinken nervously jotting down notes in his little notebook incessantly during the meeting, almost maniacally. 3. Both Putin and Lavrov sat there, man spreading, not nervously fidgeting around handling notes or jotting in notebooks, like MEN who were confident, calm, cool and collected. These things matter BIG TIME in global, world power negotiations, believe me. In this incidence, at least, the Russians came out WAY on top. Confident when compared to the obviously nervous and scared Americans who showed their lack of confidence and fear by fidgeting and nervously touching and handling "things" to try to calm their nerves. A pathetic showing of weakness by the American team.

This video is short and doesn't show them actually talking to each other, yet it tells you everything there is to know: The body language shows who's really in power and who's merely playing his assigned role.
