Just Say Mao was Sire Records' Volume 3 of Just Say Yes and was originally released on July 11, 1989 as a CD sampler. Loved the Just Say Yes series, Had them all. Check all the songs out!
one of my faves. it was played on WVBC, Bethany College, on the Monday Night Dance Mix show back in the day, and I played it on Underground Groove Radio. Good to listen to it here.
Heard this song on the 'Just Say Mao' disc way back in the day and spent a year finding their album. This wasn't the same mix on the 'Mao' disc (close) but I actually liked the original album mix as well as it had an extra verse over a very stark drum track. My other favorite track from the album was 'Independence Day'. Great fecking tune! And for those synth heads out there, the opening bell riff was done on an Oberheim. Don't know exactly what model, but when I got my Matrix 1000, I immediately recognized the sound. :) Can't remember the preset number right now, but it was below 100. :)
wow... I can't believe you just recently uploaded this and I came across it after digging into my brain trying to remember the name of this damned fine song!
Wow, so glad you posted this ... I had this 12" back in the late 80s-early 90s ... too bad it didn't get more exposure, everybody who heard it really dug it ...
Damn, how come I have never heard this song before (and I am a real Eighties new-wave chickie), at least I never heard it in Amsterdam or Paris while going out.
Best song that ever came out from East Lansing, totally dope!!
Ten yrs ago I DJ'd in an 80's room in Reno and would start of my sets with this mix because of that killer intro. Love it!
This song is definitely Reno dancefloor worthy! No Stars also
I'd use this one, send me an angel extended mix, and It's a sin 12" 😎
It's very Frankie-esque.
This is so obscure, but oh so good. I used to listen to this at a club in south Louisiana in the late 80s called Starz

Not exactly the same mix, but closer than the original.
Those were great!
The Just Say Mao version was vastly superior to this one. It's (Finally) on UA-cam thanks to...me!
Love this song, playing at P'town!
Thank you.

Damn, how come I have never heard this song before (and I am a real Eighties new-wave chickie), at least I never heard it in Amsterdam or Paris while going out.
Patrice van Es Same with me. Never heard this until 2020! The beauty of the Internet!
