“Oh well, you’re getting married in a couple months..” does it make sense? No.. but that is the thought process the devil does to me. Or better, “you haven’t confessed it for a while.. may as well..”
Matt, have you read Unwanted by Jay Stringer? He's a Christian (I believe Methodist) pastor and clinical psychologist. It dives into examining how our thoughts and patterns of unwanted sexual behavior are often based on development issues in our youth. Every person has their own set of obsessions and those can be used to help figure out the deeper motives and reasons that need addressed.
When I wake up the morning I get some fantasy thoughts. Although I think my solution is to get up asap. But it's cold where I am so i think the demon is appealing to my comfort (it's cold outside the blankets).
Here is a traditional prayer that has never failed me when tempted with lust; "Oh my God Purify my mind, my heart, my feelings my memory, my understanding, and my comportment. That I may be more to thy image and likeness. Amen." This prayer always gave me perceived liberation when it came to lust.
Both the lies of “it’s not really porn”, and “I’ve already sinned, one more time can’t hurt” effect me often. Praying the rosary and listening to your podcasts have helped me tremendously.
As a young child my innocence was stolen from me. This was an experience I would see repeat throughout my youth. Satan attacks me in my confusion of how to relate to men. I catch myself imagining life married to different men other than my husband. I stop these thoughts with “That is not of God” and I repent immediately. I love my husband and I have a wonderful marriage that has brought me into the Catholic faith. I know how blessed I am through this beautiful sacrament. I love Christ’s example of using scripture to combat Satan. So for those who are still learning scripture an immediate “no” as soon as you catch yourself thinking disordered thoughts will do until you grow in your knowledge of scripture. God Bless and strengthen you all.
God bless you... If you give in to despair, remember you were abused and you were the victim... You did absolutely nothing wrong... Im sure God will give you a very gentle husband to forget the trauma...
Same I was abused as a child and its the worse and lead me to these sexual lust, I've always wondered if there's blame. My soul longs and loves the Lord but the flesh is weak.. to weak and I hate that I got introduced to it at a young age and now that I'm older it's so hard to stay in the right path because it's always there especially in this technological world.
@@WhiteObsidian27 it’s a process. And it starts with a willingness to submit to the Lord every time you catch yourself falling into wicked thoughts. Pray immediately for help to think pure thoughts. Surround yourself with faithful people. Also Catholic Charities has free counseling if you need more help working out what happened to you. Malevolence leaves a mark, but redemption washes you clean. Remember St. Paul was a ruthless pursuer of early Christians. He was present at the stoning of Stephen. He was hungry to add others to this fate when his encounter with Christ was so intense that he fell from his horse and was blinded. The first instruction from God was to go to someone strong in faith. The zeal St. Paul felt was transformed and placed in the Lord’s service. The Lord wants to heal you. God Bless and keep you.
I always struggle with lust and give in, and after so i don't pray for a while because i feel i am so unworthy of God's grace and mercy to even pray and be able to talk to Him.
Exactly!!! Yes I feel too guilty to talk to God until I go to confession but confession will be put off because I feel like God won’t forgive me after the billionth time
Friendly reminder to not be discouraged! Christ our Lord can do it in your stead. Just ask Him to take care of it, and he’ll handle it a like a cakewalk.
Never stop getting back up! The discouragement is from the evil one. It's like strength training...the more you resist, the better you get at it. As a child I was fed these lies from a book that the more one tries to control the passions the harder it gets to combat it. Not true! We can always redirect our thoughts and energy to something else until it becomes a habit and then these temptations are reduced to mere thoughts that evoke no response.
I find the best thing to do once giving in is to go to confession as soon as possible. Also, it can be tempting to tell yourself, "Well, I've already sinned, might as well get one more sin in before I get to confession." Try to avoid that as much as possible. That's called the sin of presumption.
Demon of lust says: "It's just natural, everyone does it. How could something natural and common be a sin?" Colossians 3:5 - "Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry." Jeremiah 17:9 - "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?" Genesis 6:5 - "The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (cf. Gen 8:21) really any New Testament verse which warns us against "the flesh", "desires of the flesh", etc.] Demon of lust says: "You're going to keep doing it anyway, why repent?" If I come across good verse responses, I'll add them to this comment. Demon of lust says: "You're young, you're at your peak. Don't waste your body during this time!" Ecclesiastes 11:10c-12:1 - "... for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when you will say, 'I have no pleasure in them'" II Timothy 2:22 - "So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart." Matthew 19:16-17 (The rich YOUNG man story) - And behold, one came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” Demon of lust says: "We live in an enlightened era, we don't believe those old things anymore. We understand things better now." (Any lie from modernity, basically) I John 2:15-17 - "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever." Romans 12:2 - "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." James 4:4 - "Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." II Peter 3:3 - "First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions" Matthew 7:13-14 - "“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy,[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few." II Timothy 2:16 - "Avoid such godless chatter, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness," II Timothy 4:3-5 - "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths. As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry." Colossians 2:8 - "See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ." What is clear is that if you want to combat lust, you must be reading the Bible everyday. Some books you can read in a matter of minutes. The Bible is our sword, use it!
Years ago a guy I was in an impure relationship with told me "you better give it up this is the prettiest you will ever look." I wish I married earlier so my husband would have enjoyed me at my peak. I'm single and in my 30s still waiting. Sex is natural & pleasurable. Almost everyone is doing it. I can understand why a lot of people think it is not a sin. I understand the temptation in avoiding repenting when stuck in a habitual sexual sin. It is easy to think with sex education, medicine, technology ( contraceptives, access to abortion) that fornication is no longer a sin because the consequences can easily be avoided or wiped away
I’ve fought the demon of lust before, and this is almost VERBATIM what it actually said! It messed with people around me too to get them to echo the same garbage. Don’t fall for the lies!
I'd been free for about a month, but yesterday it tempted me and I fell. At first, it was "you're just going there so you can share the gospel in the comment section. This person is broken and needs it". Then it was, "just take a look it cannot hurt". Then it used the fact that I gave in and switched to "you're already here, might as well stay for a while". When I finally broke free, "it tried to guilt me into not praying by telling me I wasn't worthy". It was painful, but I've asked for forgiveness in prayer and I'm heading to confession this afternoon or tomorrow come what may. That's another one, it keeps trying to make me delay confession "ah you can do that later, you've already asked for forgiveness in prayer". P.S. It all started as I was being idle.
@Vee completly true! I often strugled like first comment, like being in some swampy ground, not too lazy but not too active and then you step on wrong stone - lust thinking - and sudenly deep dive into mud of porn. Its to a degree problem of not growing up. Grow up, you can let every pleasure thinking deciding your life and your acts like your little child, take responsibility for things you do, make a schedule of obligations and go into the world with Christ!
I find that when I regrettably fall to sin, it is as hooks latch onto me and pull me toward sinning even more; sort of like "I've already done it, the harm is done, so why not do some more while I'm at it". Having been a satanist and flesh-worshipper most my life, I think it's something that's been hammered into my psyché - luckily I know that nothing can stop the Holy Spirit from tearing that mental habit out of my brain in due course.
I am currently discerning priesthood, and one lie that I have been bombarded with as of late is "If you travel down this path, you may never get to experience true intimacy ever again." The Lord has been so kind to me and has repeatedly fulfilled my deep need for intimacy, but it's still an angle from which the demons attack me.
The lie I tell myself is "I'm really tired, so my weakness is excusable." It's easy to give in then. Lots of times I've failed and a few times I've not. My best defense is stay out of situations where it's easy to fall. I don't hide away alone, I take a cold shower and get outside. When I fall I don't despair and I get to confession as soon as possible. It's humiliating to go back to the same priest with the same sin again and again. God bless you Matt and keep up this discussion.
Thanks Matt. Im response to the lie urging us to presumption, telling us we already have to go to Confession so might as well “get in a free one” the most powerful voice for me is Sirach 3:27b “adding sin to sin is madness”
One lie is "I'm called to be single" as if it were a gift. Well, every situation God has us in is for our sanctification, but if you are single because there aren't many good Catholic options nearby (or no good Catholic women want you) for marriage, that's not a gift. It's good that you're abstaining from unhealthy relationships, but we should admit our culture/society is undergoing a curse/scourge, making marriage much more difficult to maintain and even obtain. The reason why dating towards marriage is so hard is because culture is against us, and it is an affliction, even a Babylonian exile for the sins of prior generations. Let's not pretend this is a gift, at least not in the "yay, this is fun" sense, but only in the "God is protecting me from this corrupt generation so I'm stuck being single".
Well , it's bad for the mental health to NOT look at it as a gift for many....deep down we all KNOW it's a tragedy.... knowing that no one will love us with that warmth and tenderness we long for...but those who think of it as a gift just seeing the positives of it: the chance to remain chaste in body, a chance to seek salvation without having to be bitter about a spouse or kids etc.
Actually, the single life was promoted by Popes before Vatican II as a legitimate vocation (calling by God) and one that is deemed higher than the marital life.
I don't know why some Catholics act like marriage is the ultimate fulfillment. It can be a turnoff how some young Catholic guys are desperate to date and get married.
Every calling is God's gift. God has set a path before us to follow, and that is a gift. The calling to priesthood is a calling to be chaste and single (but not really single spiritually), and so is the call to be part of the religious life. The call to being single is a call to living a consecrated life, where the person is able to devote more of their time to prayer, and helping others, that they otherwise would not have with a family, not to mention all the more dangerous situations they can put themselves in to help others since they don't have a family depending on them. You speak as though the only reason to live a single consecrated life is if a person had no luck marrying. There may be some who are living that life because of that, however as Inquisition has said, being single is a legitimate vocation, and God does call some people to that, which is definitely a gift.
A lie I always find myself believing is "you'll fall eventually" or "you can't live without this". I think those really disconnect you from any sense of hope and often present the enemy as much stronger than it is. Then again, this could also be a call to greater humility
Last time I fell into temptation I prayed the Holy Spirit to help me find a strategy to notice and resist whenever I were tempted again. Two things came to my mind: Dopamine fasting and the sentence "May the lord rebuke you." (jude 1:9) It's impressive
"No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it. "
That has been my biggest weak point & the excuse to continue my addiction to pornography. Often time I'll just Imagine my self being perfect in next day and get wasted over today. :(
@@voyello Prayer and keeping mind of God is great medicine, especially the Rosary. I notice you say you imagine yourself as being perfect despite falling into grave sin today. Perhaps, and I am just guessing from very little information (perhaps speak to a spiritual director), but perhaps there is some pride keeping you in this snare of Satan. Remember that we are nothing and do not be surprised if you fail through your own faults. Do not get too mad with yourself. Do not be disappointed due to wounded pride, but because of the offense against God. We are weak. But the key is relying on God's strength. He helps us to avoid sin, and so long as you keep to true humility one can grow stronger and stronger in the Lord. But remember that it is the Lord's strength, and so if we fall it should not be surprising. So maybe focus on building the virtue of humility throughout the day. I am just guessing from a small comment what may help you, but do not know you personally and am not a spiritual director, but I do do some spiritual reading and I think this underlies a lot of type of sin. God allows us to fall for such a base sin if we are too high-minded. But if we trust in Him He will surely guide us and He always gives us Grace enough to avoid sin, but in our weakness we do not always cooperate.
I can relate to a lot of these lies. I am familiar with "it is not technically porn, you don't want to fall into the trap of being a prude." I am self-conscious about how sexually inexperienced I am for a woman my age. I often envy the women who can sleep with a lot of handsome men and suffer no consequences. I envied Saint Mary of Egypt because she lived a wild promiscuous life before her conversion. She knew a lot about sex. I am bombarded by the lie that I am a boring sheltered Catholic woman who knows nothing about sex, men, and relationships. I make excuses for looking at shirtless male models and celebrities or even looking at nude or semi-nude female models and celebrities. I am guilty of thinking "no one will find out" and porn is just my harmless dirty little secret. I live life through "harmless" sexual fantasies. I also use the excuse "Oh well I already sinned so one more sin before confession won't hurt." I lie to myself about how lazy I am and how extreme my procrastination is. I find ways to minimize, rationalize, and justify submitting half-done, poorly done or late assignments. I need to make more of an effort to fight off lust, laziness, envy, obsession with knowing so much about sexuality & the human body, self-centeredness, etc.
As somebody who lead a very promiscuous life prior to converting, I’m telling you- you’re not missing out on ANYthing and whoever the lucky man is who gets to be with someone so pure is going to help you realize how happy you are that you’re “inexperienced” and you get to experience it all with your one and only. If I could go back and change anything of my past, it would be to take away all my sexual experiences prior to my fiancé. What I would give….
@@AJanae. I'm not so pure. I'm not a virgin and I have indulged in the world of pornography but compared to most women my age I'm inexperienced. I keep thinking I won't find the right man if I don't have sex. It is hard for me to think that sexual immorality has actual consequences.
@@renita941 I've subscribed to her and rarely watch her videos. I should. I think I'm way into physical and sexual attraction to start looking for romance. Looks aren't everything
@@IONov990 The woman who does Catholic Stories which is a UA-cam channel is a virgin at 27 or 28 years old and she has some great videos about her virginity and all things Catholic. There is another video called "5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Gave Away My Virginity - My Catholic Perspective" by Ali-Marie Ingram which you might like as well. I also agree with what April says as well. I think most guys if not all guys worth their salt would prefer a virgin or a woman with little experience as opposed to someone who's been around the block and if the guy can't wait or doesn't think that you are worth waiting for, he's not the right guy anyway.
I have been listening to fr. Ripperger's short and long lecturers. He is great, a Catholic Jordan Peterson essentially. He has some great posts on Sensus Fidelium (I think that's the name of channel). His 3 part seminar on Marriage and how demons undermine your marriage/wife/duties is brilliant. he also goes over what the sacrement entails
That’s no joke. My husband used to be possessed and the demon got cast out of him when he was saved by God. He became a born again Christian and everything! When the demon found out it was in such a complete rage that it screamed “I’ll f-ing kill you both!” And threw me off a cliff. I survived and repressed the memory for years. Demons basically tried to destroy us & waged hardcore warfare as soon as they figured out he was saved and we were together. Just the amount of unbridled rage was appalling. Sewer rat must really hate true Christian marriages & relationships!
The lie "My husband isn't a good spiritual example for my kids. I'd be better off raising them myself and maybe then they will keep their faith" Scripture verse- A wise woman builds up her household. But a foolish one will pull down with her own hands what has been built up.
@@TotalSkeptic The problem is what is right if not decided by faith? You're acting like there is some universal conscious all can agree on for example in absence of religion, but unfortunately that's not true. Consciences are learned, meaning at end of the day, they either fit in individuals whims, or to some extent depend on outside framework despite individuals desires. All that is to say, there is no reason to believe the children will do what is "right" because there either there "isn't" such thing, or they lack the example from religion/experience etc to do so. And no experience is not sufficient as it can really get cut down to what can I get away with which sometimes is a lot.
@@TotalSkeptic do you trust your child not to approach a vicious dog, not to enter a field with a bull, trust them in their naivety that its OK to walk alone at night or climb a 50 ft ladder??
@@teamgab7432 I didn't use faith as a teaching tool when raising my children. we taught them the difference between right and wrong, and how to think for themselves and use reason. Faith is what you use when you can't explain what you believe.
@@TotalSkeptic Nah see: 1. first the faith definition you provided is a convenient definition that only came about recently due to people looking down on faith or its utility relatively recently in history. Before that the use of faith had an element of reasonableness which many religious still ascribe to 2. You taught your kids right and wrong Great! except we have no reason to believe what you said is right and wrong Is ACTUALLY right and wrong. as in right and wrong in what way? legally? morally? Because morally you don't get to right or wrong without some sort of outside framework, aka outside power(resulting in faith, doctrine, etc...) I'm not arguing you can't do right without faith, but ultimately your rights and wrongs can easily err as they aren't based on anything really binding. Now perhaps you taught your kids things that I too would agree are good(ie charity, respect of others). But if you simply taught them it was right/wrong but gave no real damning reason to actually consider WHY it's right and wrong, by and by the morals become more lost over time. It's like this. many practices, habits, determinations can be used like tools to fix or make someone's life. However, if there's no toolbox(ie faith), then by and by the generations start losing your tool/morals cause after all, there's no "real" reason to hold on to certain tenets if this time or that time, they can get away with not using it. And yes, the human naturally does want to do things that may not be right so this outcome of right and wrong being lost is almost inevitable in due time. People DO abandon conscience quite often when it suits them. "Feeling bad" is not often enough to stop actual moral infringement. So maybe you and your children are stand up people, but to put it bluntly, most likely many of those morals will be lost or degrade to human selfishness and perversion over some span of time once enough people realize, screw this I'll do my own thing and I don't have to deal with consequences.
I suffered from a violent lust that poisoned my soul. For years I begged God to purify me. One day the lust just stopped. Then I got diabetes which gave me Neuropathy and that left me unable to commit Adultery. God has been good to me. Surely God works in a mysterious way. Diabetes keeps me safe as I am unable to perform. Praised be Jesus Christ in Our Most Holy Lady.
Thanks Matt! This was an amazing video to watch. I've recently come to the realisation that in order to stop watching porn, I really need to stop the lustful thoughts, the fantasies that eventually lead me to watching porn . And I've found that these thoughts/fantasies usually start with one the lies you have described above. Thank you for the work you have done.
As someone who has struggled with lust, pornography, and self pleasure throughout most of my youth-full life and has struggled with two-relationships, watching this video and attending catholic mass has helped me realize that i want and need to better my health and soul! Sex is supposed to be one of Gods greatest gift but that gift has to be treated with responsibility in order to not further distance yourself from god! Just because self-pleasure feels good doesn’t mean that it’s going to inevitably make you feel pathetic, self-denial, and a wast of time that just distance yourself from building relationships!! Thank you so much for making this video, God bless you, and I’m sorry for being 2 years late!
Saying the Rosary daily has been helpful to me along with regular confession at least 1x per week and Mass as often as possible. You could also start adhering to The 5 Stones of Mary: 1. Prayer 2. Reading the Bible 3. Eucharist 4. Fasting 5. Confession
Something that really helps me when I’m tempted is praying the Our Father and within less than a couple of minutes the temptation is gone. I personally pray it in Latin.
The demon of doubt. This has plagued me as I have struggled with OCD and Scrupulosity. This was the worst and most common thought that has pervaded my mind “It would be easier to just give up your faith and not worry about all of this. Why keep struggling? God isn’t helping, why believe in Him if he won’t help you in your desperate times”?
My go-to is Leviticus 11:44: "For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy." Saint Peter references this verse: "As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”' (1Peter 1:14-16)
Lie told to me and then repeated by me to me: "It is ok to walk the path to a sin if you don't commit it. It only makes you stronger after all. God is definitely pleased with you standing up to your desires." aaand that usually leads to sin but on a longer road. And of course afterwards: "Don't worry, it'll work this time. You'll resist and win."
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you." James 4:7-10 Fighting against temptation is a crucial part of Christian life, but you shall not seek it. You shall seek God and love him, and resist temptation whenever it arises. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." God bless you on your journey brother. May Jesus lead us into heaven.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we *might die to sin and live to righteousness*. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24 By virtue of our baptism we are regenerated to be able to life a life of righteousness. Christ's righteousness gets poured into our hearts more and more as we continue the journey. Romans 6 also goes into this in great detail.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 “To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 God is WILLING AND EAGER to transform your mind as you hand it over to him. He will do the heavy lifting in his grace. May he fulfill your every resolve for good!
I struggle with anger... for no reason at all, it's almost as if I need to get intensely angry. I know where this comes from, I grew up in a tough neighborhood, so being a person that can get intensely angry on a drop of a hat served me well. But now it's a strange weird and un-holly feeling that I wish to get rid of. Any scripture will be greatly appreciated. Thank You
I struggle with anger myself. I just try to confess and pray in a state of grace to remove those attachments that's causing this negative thought pattern in my mind. It's all about breaking old habits and redirecting the attention to something else. Doing spiritual reading can help.Ephesians 4:26-27 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil
I face the same problem you do. Anger comes from either one of three things... Pride, Envy, and Fear You can combat anger by humility, empathy, sympathy, and fearlessness. In your case it is definitely both Pride and Fear... Pride because you think anger served you well.. "so being a person that can get intensely angry on a drop of a hat served me well" It wasn't anger that served you well... It was GODs grace, divine help, and mercy Anger can NEVER serve you well... EVER! Unless it is HOLY ANGER which only GOD is capable of having... In my case it was Fear, Pride, and Lack of sympathy... I used to think i was Mr. Perfect and that everyone should also be perfect. If someone makes a mistake i get angry because why are you so stupid... how dare you make this mistake... HOW DARE YOU?!!??! Do you see me making this mistake??? As for the bible verses ill post them for you below a link that contains many! www.countryliving.com/life/inspirational-stories/g32705045/bible-verses-about-anger/ As for how i combat it... i always remember 2 things... First is that anger leads to you holding a grudge on someone and eventually not forgiving them... And if you dont forgive others... well see what JESUS says about that in the below verses... Matthew 6:14-15 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly. Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their. trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Isaiah 57:21 "'There is no peace,' says my God, 'for the wicked.' " So i would rather not be angry as i want to constantly forgive everyone in order for GOD to keep forgiving me... After all if GOD forgave me... and others then who am i to not forgive the world? Second of all i remember that i am here to seek HIS kingdom and do HIS will... If i anger i might eventually ruin all my efforts i have done for his kingdom because in anger i will surely sin... Im sorry for the long read... I hope it helps
See if my videos can be of a help to you and they were to others. I’m publishing a weekly UA-cam video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you
The first one definitely resonated with me. Another lie that I see a ton is basically "everyone else is doing it in the culture, including your friends and family, teachers and leaders. Don't feel bad about doing it too."
Matt you are changing my life by spreading the word through your videos. After coming across content like yours I gained huge curiosity about Christianity and started reading the bible and going to mass. Thank you so much! May God bless you and your family! ❤🔥
One thing helping me to keep on this battle of lust, is remembering that when we are crushed by the weight of our temptation & our human strength/will/psyche fails, as long as we are following Christ, we fall at his feet, & as long as we give the battle to him, we will be victorious. What's more is that we gain a comrade in arms, St Michael, because "fight this day the battle of the Lord" ~♡
Here's a lust lie: "It's just a little harmless flirting, it won't lead anywhere anyway, it's just for fun." We all know that even if both parties are married, flirting can do more damage than what the demons are letting on. Flirting can quickly spiral from one smile or one look, into an addiction of lust and secrecy for one another. Great to have scripture to go against such a situation, as opposed to my usual "Nope nope nope nope" and looking away tactic.
@@OrthoLouTo intentionally stir up the passions of any person you are not married to is a mortal sin, now things such as gentle caresses and touches or non passionate kissing are permissible, but anything further than that if done with full consent is a mortal sin. In regards to communication it is the same way, while showing interest and interacting in a loving way with a potential and unmarried partner is alright, to intentionally excite their passions of the other trough communication is sinful, and could even be mortally sinful. Fantasizing could also be mortally sinful. Check out topics about courtship in traditional Catholicism to see how such a chaste relationship is possible, the main focus of that is to find virtue in the other person to find their partner potential before going for a more intimate approach by developing attachments in a rightly order manner which is in accordance with reason so that reason precedes emotion to ensure the stability and well development of the union, or at the same time facilitate separation and healthy detachment in case an incompatibility is found.
I'm not baptized yet, so sometimes I'll get the idea that "well you can't be saved before you're baptized, so you may as well get your sins done now, resisting at this point doesn't make any difference until then, and they'll be wiped away anyway"
These are amazing and I certainly have had some of these thoughts when I'm struggling with lust. The other issue I struggle with constantly is sloth and I'd love help coming up with scriptures to combat this as well. Thank you for this, Matt. God Bless you, your family and your team (Hi, Neil).
The worst thought of them all is no thought at all. The refusal to think about what you’re doing can all too easily over come you when you’re tired and lonely.
When we're sleepy we put our natural guard down, many of the Church Fathers adivse praying very feverntly at night as we are at our must vulnerable then
"Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand!" What is not the same principle, but kind of close is Peter denying Jesus 3 times. What is applicable here is his bitter weeping, as this should be our right reaction to sin.
Happened to me.. I just held my rosary and started praying... As i was praying i fell back to sleep... Woke up as if there was nothing;) I love you Mother Mary... I used to have the worst thoughts about Mother Mary... Defiled thoughts... I used to think i was the worst person in the world. I could never look up to heaven and pray anymore... I mean after all how could i??? Imagine fantasising about a girl you are lusting over and then Mother Mary comes up in the fantasy in a unspeakable manner... How could i ever look to her or pray for her??? I felt so alone... so unsaved... so ashamed... It was later throughout the years as i started confessing my sin to others that i realized others faced the same issue i did... I was no longer alone... As i went and finally confessed to a priest thinking he was gonna tell me im damned to hell... because i mean how can you even picture the Mother of GOD in a terrible way... He instantly told me that those thoughts are not of your own but of demons... This is why the bible says confess your sins to others because when you do you are first removing your pride by admiting you are a sinner at fault.. and then you realize you are not the only one with those problems
See if my videos can be of a help to you as they were to others. Thank you
This is a great idea. You should include some minor exorcism prayers like the St. Michael prayer and St. Benedict Medal prayer in the front or back as an quick general helper against temptations.
Yes! I’ve thought to myself that if I imagine it’s my future wife then everything should be fine (it’s still lusting though even if I imagine it within the confines of marriage). Another temptation is that “Oh but I’m not married so it’s not fair that I don’t have an outlet for these thoughts and desires. If only I had an outlet then these thoughts wouldn’t be sinful”. When in reality if I make a habit out of sexual fantasies that will result in me thinking about other women when/if I get married.
I find that realizing that God is not some separate Being but is with me now, keeping my heart beating; The Holy Spirit from baptism is ever present within as well; then there's Mary and my Guardian Angel - heck I have an entire crowd going wherever I go...... Do I really want to sin IN FRONT of them???? I find your quotes mainly intellectual.. There is more power in becoming aware of the overwhelming presence of God... Thanking and praising Jesus under your breath will also make demons flee.... remember temptations are given to STRENGTHEN you not weaken you - so embrace the battle, use the grace provided, and come away from the assault stronger, more loving and less self-centered.
My uncle Rick and pepere (both philosophical Catholics) were walking down the street in the 1970's when a girl with no bra and a see-thru shirt walked by them. Rick looked over to his dad, and asked him "what does God think about that woman wearing that shirt with no bra?" My pepere looked at him and said, "as far as your concerned, it's not what she's wearing that matters to God, it's what you're thinking." I'll never forget that story.
By the grace of God, when I sinned with my body by touching my body inappropriately… I Went to confession and said the word out loud Mas…….to the priest. I was mortified 😮and challenged myself that if I fell into this sin again I must confess it. I am realizing that before I even attempt to actualize this sin, I talk myself out of it and pray to The Holy Spirit to guide me out of the lustful moments. Women don’t talk about this as a shame… They make it sound acceptable. My dear Sisters & Brothers… It is not. God Bless you all 🙏✝️
I had to look at when you posted this video, because I was hoping the book was already written and I could purchase it!!! Yes do something like this...it's like when you were a child and got bullied and later after the incident you think to yourself....I should have said this, or that lol! To have a response that's scripture like Christ! Wow! I would have to carry it around with me every where because sin and temptations are rampant everywhere and this would be a great way to stay strong and away from sin...we are called to be like the "father" as Christ says to follow him and be holy! When SACRAMENTS are taken away and churches close...all we have is his word! Maybe include at the back or front some really good prayers to fight these demons as well! I hope you can create this book and God bless!
I love your suggestion of using the Word of God to directly confront temptation like Christ did! It's a no brainer! Why didn't I think of this? Such power in the Logos!
Thanks, Matt! With Lent starting i have noticed that I am overcome with lustful thoughts. This video really helps. I also noticed that my church stocks Talking Back in their bookstore so I will go and purchase it.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. And bringing every thought into the captivity of Christ Jesus. Having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience has been fulfilled.
3:57 Be careful with this type of interpretation. It can lead to quite a bit of confusion and scrupulosity. Remember that God did indeed wire us with sexual attraction for one another, and without reducing the other person to a sexual object, admiring that person’s beauty or attractiveness can be a very good thing. You cannot say that to gaze upon someone who is pleasing to the eye is not pleasureful to the mind, nor can you say that it is automatically sinful to do so. Otherwise, no one would be able to pursue a potential spouse. Ultimately, it depends on what is truly in his or her heart. Do they see a sacred person made in the image and likeness of God or do they see someone who they would like to use for sexual pleasure? That being said, anytime you intentionally look at pornography you’ve already reduced someone to a sexual object.

So true...I could live all that on my own. I justified my acts thinking It couldn't be wrong just because I was in love and God would understand my feelings. It all ended so bad for me...now I'm trying to redeem myself with God. (Sorry for my english). God bless you all. 🙏🙏
Please pray for me. To learn how to love and not lust. Lust is unclean and makes me feel dirty. Love is pure and untainted and clean and makes me feel light and holy. My lust will most likely be the cause for my hellfire. I'm a man and I love women but I need to keep my heart pure as God knows it is not and full of greed lust and selfishness. Even on the best days I'm still not worthy...
Perhaps the most important thing you should keep in mind in your battle against these demonic forces... I got the book that Matt mentioned AND FOUND PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT VERSE FOR YOU GUYS!!!! Against the thought that supposes in a single hour the evil thoughts of fornication, lust, envy, pride, gluttony, anger will flee from it Demon: "If you are really saved then you would have stopped sinning immediately" Scripture: "But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land" Exodus 23:29-30 I love you Matt! Thank you for referring the book that you did and PLEASE WORK ON YOUR OWN BOOK. It is really important!
The tempation is always there. Always present and all encompassing. For me it has been a couple of months and there times were I relapse. But for me the biggest enemy is my mind. I always fall in to the trap of Fantasising the perfect woman, what it would be like with her, kids, what our sex lives would be like, what our first wedding night will be like. This is also compounded by me not having any experience with relationships (I have never dated, never gone on a date, never had a girlfriend), and for a man in this day, I almost feel like an anomaly, a glitch in the matrix. These all culminate in a very vicious cycle that is hard to break.
This video is really helpful. Very crisp. Also very powerful, thanks to this being solidly grounded on scripture. Thanks. Please do videos like this for all 7 deadly sins :)
Demon of pride: "You're so much more holy than these people" Luke 14:11 "Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted."
I have found it useful to use the theory of focusing on the the "reverse" virtue. For me that is focusing on the the love of God versus the love of myself, so focusing my prayer life on praises of God.
Like Padre Pio said,"Pray hope and don't worry, worry is useless,God is merciful and will hear your prayer.Prayer is the best weapon we have, it is the key to God's heart. You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips but with your heart."
One lie I tell myself is this "Everyone else is able to do this stuff, and they're happy and healthy. Why am I as a Catholic depriving myself?" Can be responded to with Psalm 73
What are evil thoughts that you find yourself listening in regards to lust or any of the capital sins for that matter?
“Oh well, you’re getting married in a couple months..” does it make sense? No.. but that is the thought process the devil does to me. Or better, “you haven’t confessed it for a while.. may as well..”
Small, passing lustful thoughts are no big deal...
@@AJanae. well demons appeal to your appetites so they are inherently irrational
Amen ❤ thank you!
Beautiful
Amen, Thank you!
Thanks
Amen
Both the lies of “it’s not really porn”, and “I’ve already sinned, one more time can’t hurt” effect me often. Praying the rosary and listening to your podcasts have helped me tremendously.
I’m with you on this one.
I feel that
“You’re more holy and better than that person because you pray more”
Pray the Litany of Humility.
Yeah, this one hits me too man.
As a Christian women who struggles with lust! This helps TREMENDOUSLY! Lord have mercy on me and deliver me from this!
nothing wrong with lust a woman who lusts is a better lover !

Demon of lust says: "It's just natural, everyone does it. How could something natural and common be a sin?"
Colossians 3:5 - "Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry."
Jeremiah 17:9 - "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?"
Genesis 6:5 - "The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (cf. Gen 8:21)
really any New Testament verse which warns us against "the flesh", "desires of the flesh", etc.]
Demon of lust says: "You're going to keep doing it anyway, why repent?"
If I come across good verse responses, I'll add them to this comment.
Demon of lust says: "You're young, you're at your peak. Don't waste your body during this time!"
Ecclesiastes 11:10c-12:1 - "... for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when you will say, 'I have no pleasure in them'"
II Timothy 2:22 - "So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart."
Matthew 19:16-17 (The rich YOUNG man story) - And behold, one came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”
Demon of lust says: "We live in an enlightened era, we don't believe those old things anymore. We understand things better now." (Any lie from modernity, basically)
I John 2:15-17 - "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever."
Romans 12:2 - "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
James 4:4 - "Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."
II Peter 3:3 - "First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions"
Matthew 7:13-14 - "“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy,[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few."
II Timothy 2:16 - "Avoid such godless chatter, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,"
II Timothy 4:3-5 - "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths. As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry."
Colossians 2:8 - "See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ."
What is clear is that if you want to combat lust, you must be reading the Bible everyday.
❤️
Thanks for sharing brother
Thanks for sharing brother
Whow very sad but I can relate
@Vee completly true! I often strugled like first comment, like being in some swampy ground, not too lazy but not too active and then you step on wrong stone - lust thinking - and sudenly deep dive into mud of porn.
Its to a degree problem of not growing up. Grow up, you can let every pleasure thinking deciding your life and your acts like your little child, take responsibility for things you do, make a schedule of obligations and go into the world with Christ!
Am in the same boat as you fight fight fight 💪 . We can do this we can't let the devil win
Amen. Same here. Let us not lack faith in the total and complete healing power of God
I am currently discerning priesthood, and one lie that I have been bombarded with as of late is
"If you travel down this path, you may never get to experience true intimacy ever again."
The Lord has been so kind to me and has repeatedly fulfilled my deep need for intimacy, but it's still an angle from which the demons attack me.
Sweet Jesus, may God Bless You, I've been getting the same & I am curious about being a Nun.
@@HolyInquisition Nice to know that, thanks for the info.
Two things came to my mind: Dopamine fasting and the sentence "May the lord rebuke you." (jude 1:9)
It's impressive
I will never get over this sin, I do it again and again and again, I may just give up! - 1 Kor 10,13

Prayer and keeping mind of God is great medicine, especially the Rosary.
There is no such thing as a temptation where God wouldn't give you the grace to overcome it.
Oh my gosh. That is how I feel about my extreme procrastination.

I also agree with what April says as well. I think most guys if not all guys worth their salt would prefer a virgin or a woman with little experience as opposed to someone who's been around the block and if the guy can't wait or doesn't think that you are worth waiting for, he's not the right guy anyway.
Okay, I have literally fallen and struggled with each and every one of these. Please pray for me and for my deliverance from the Evil One.

"I'll try and stop tomorrow". Is what I do say to myself but I don't. Well I didn't until this week and am now getting back on track slowly
The lie "My husband isn't a good spiritual example for my kids. I'd be better off raising them myself and maybe then they will keep their faith"
Scripture verse- A wise woman builds up her household. But a foolish one will pull down with her own hands what has been built up.
Perhaps you should trust your children to do what is right instead of forcing them to keep 'your' faith?
@@TotalSkeptic Nah see:
1. first the faith definition you provided is a convenient definition that only came about recently due to people looking down on faith or its utility relatively recently in history. Before that the use of faith had an element of reasonableness which many religious still ascribe to
2. You taught your kids right and wrong
Great! except we have no reason to believe what you said is right and wrong Is ACTUALLY right and wrong.
as in right and wrong in what way?
legally?
morally?
Because morally you don't get to right or wrong without some sort of outside framework, aka outside power(resulting in faith, doctrine, etc...)
I'm not arguing you can't do right without faith, but ultimately your rights and wrongs can easily err as they aren't based on anything really binding.
You could also start adhering to The 5 Stones of Mary:
1. Prayer
2. Reading the Bible
3. Eucharist
4. Fasting
5. Confession
This was incredible! It's like you reached into my temptations and offered scripture verses to be the armor of God
Much like Jesus who responded to the devil's temptations in the desert by giving a scripture response. Answer with the word of God
Something that really helps me when I’m tempted is praying the Our Father and within less than a couple of minutes the temptation is gone. I personally pray it in Latin.
Especially the line"do not let us fall into temptation but deliver us from all evil"
"Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen."
This has helped me tremendously also.
The demon of doubt. This has plagued me as I have struggled with OCD and Scrupulosity. This was the worst and most common thought that has pervaded my mind
“It would be easier to just give up your faith and not worry about all of this. Why keep struggling? God isn’t helping, why believe in Him if he won’t help you in your desperate times”?
My go-to is Leviticus 11:44:
"For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy."
Saint Peter references this verse:
"As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”'
(1Peter 1:14-16)
Meditating on the 5 wounds of Christ has been helpful to me when confronting temptations or troubling thoughts.
This really helped! Thank you Holy Spirit for speaking through this man.
Amen thank you for trying us to help overcome this demon of lust.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."
James 4:7-10
Fighting against temptation is a crucial part of Christian life, but you shall not seek it. You shall seek God and love him, and resist temptation whenever it arises. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."
God bless you on your journey brother. May Jesus lead us into heaven.
This is such a great idea!!! Here's a lie: "This is just how you are, you just aren't able to live an ordered life."
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we *might die to sin and live to righteousness*. By his wounds you have been healed.
1 Peter 2:24
By virtue of our baptism we are regenerated to be able to life a life of righteousness. Christ's righteousness gets poured into our hearts more and more as we continue the journey. Romans 6 also goes into this in great detail.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.”
1 Corinthians 15:10
God is WILLING AND EAGER to transform your mind as you hand it over to him.
@@tinag7506 Thank You Tina, I really like that
I face the same problem you do. Anger comes from either one of three things... Pride, Envy, and Fear
You can combat anger by humility, empathy, sympathy, and fearlessness.
In your case it is definitely both Pride and Fear...
Pride because you think anger served you well.. "so being a person that can get intensely angry on a drop of a hat served me well"
It wasn't anger that served you well... It was GODs grace, divine help, and mercy
Anger can NEVER serve you well...
As for the bible verses ill post them for you below a link that contains many!
www.countryliving.com/life/inspirational-stories/g32705045/bible-verses-about-anger/
As for how i combat it... i always remember 2 things...
First is that anger leads to you holding a grudge on someone and eventually not forgiving them...
And if you dont forgive others... well see what JESUS says about that in the below verses...
Matthew 6:14-15
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly. Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their. trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Isaiah 57:21
"'There is no peace,' says my God, 'for the wicked.' "
So i would rather not be angry as i want to constantly forgive everyone in order for GOD to keep forgiving me...
Thank you
Only through God is their peace and freedom. Thank you for providing the quotes!
I would love a pocketbook version of this. It would be so helpful to refer to when I'm out and about in the world.
Damn, this whole video is just shooting daggers right at me. Thank you for this.
I will be taking notes on this later. Thank you Matt, God Bless.
Here's a lust lie: "It's just a little harmless flirting, it won't lead anywhere anyway, it's just for fun."
We all know that even if both parties are married, flirting can do more damage than what the demons are letting on. Flirting can quickly spiral from one smile or one look, into an addiction of lust and secrecy for one another. Great to have scripture to go against such a situation, as opposed to my usual "Nope nope nope nope" and looking away tactic.
ROFL
@@OrthoLou I should have specified that I am married, so this lie about flirting being harmless is for married couples.
@@MrMercuryW This is super helpful, thanks. God bless you.
Thank you sir as I combat the sin of lust everyday and have paid dearly for it.
I'm not baptized yet, so sometimes I'll get the idea that "well you can't be saved before you're baptized, so you may as well get your sins done now, resisting at this point doesn't make any difference until then, and they'll be wiped away anyway"
The LIE is no one loves me. The truth is God loves me and I am surrounded in abundance with his love.
These are amazing and I certainly have had some of these thoughts when I'm struggling with lust. The other issue I struggle with constantly is sloth and I'd love help coming up with scriptures to combat this as well. Thank you for this, Matt. God Bless you, your family and your team (Hi, Neil).
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Demon of Lust (Porn/bad movies): "I just want to know how far they go. For education purposes"
🤣
That one’s definitely a frequent flyer...
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!
Yeah man i sometimes am a victim of that. May the Lord Jesus forgive me of that.
The worst thought of them all is no thought at all. The refusal to think about what you’re doing can all too easily over come you when you’re tired and lonely.
Don't know if it's a lie, but I struggle with this one, "I'll just ask forgiveness later". Also, why am I always tempted when I'm half asleep?
You aren't at your most defensive then, you are tired and can more easily give in, that's why we all must be on Guard, and pray protection prayers.
When we're sleepy we put our natural guard down, many of the Church Fathers adivse praying very feverntly at night as we are at our must vulnerable then
"Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand!"
What is not the same principle, but kind of close is Peter denying Jesus 3 times. What is applicable here is his bitter weeping, as this should be our right reaction to sin.
Happened to me.. I just held my rosary and started praying... As i was praying i fell back to sleep... Woke up as if there was nothing;)
I love you Mother Mary...

"You will never make it" "Your failures and sins will outweigh any good you try to do"
This video really rang my bell. I know the answer. But sometimes one feels so dirty that it’s hard to even go back to the throne.
This is a great idea. You should include some minor exorcism prayers like the St. Michael prayer and St. Benedict Medal prayer in the front or back as an quick general helper against temptations.
A lie I fell for, " IT'S NOT REALLY LUST, IS IT? IT'S UNFULLFILLED DESIRE TO LOVE MY FUTURE WIFE."
Thank you for the information. The demon of lust ruins lives. I'm glad that they're scriptures to combat those evil thoughts.
"It is just thoughts, when it comes down to it, you really don't do anything physically, so it's harmless"
Your examples are good for examining our conscience before confession. Say to yourself, "oh it wasn't that bad."
By the grace of God, when I sinned with my body by touching my body inappropriately…
I Went to confession and said the word out loud
Mas…….to the priest.
I was mortified 😮and challenged myself that if I fell into this sin again
I must confess it.
I am realizing that before I even attempt to actualize this sin, I talk myself out of it and pray to The Holy Spirit to guide me out of the lustful moments.
Women don’t talk about this as a shame…
They make it sound acceptable.
My dear Sisters & Brothers…
It is not.
Thank you for the honesty and integrity of your work. 🙏🔥🔥

Thanks for all the recommendations Matt 👍🏼
This is a wonderful idea! I support this full heartedly. Personally, I find that my mind is my hardest part of my body to control.
Perfect timing for me. Thank YOU.
You’re right, we all struggle with these thoughts!
This is my greatest weakness and sin...please pray for me 🙏📿

Great idea write the book!!
"Hey, it's not a mortal sin don't worry about it." This line is applied to many different types of sin including a general addiction to the internet.
Against the thought that supposes in a single hour the evil thoughts of fornication, lust, envy, pride, gluttony, anger will flee from it
Demon: "If you are really saved then you would have stopped sinning immediately"
Scripture: "But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land" Exodus 23:29-30
I love you Matt!
You just described everything that goes on in my mind, thank you for letting me know I'm not alone in this. Keep strong, brother.
"Make every thought captive to Christ"-from Corinthians is a good verse.
GOOD VIDEO, alcoholic. May GOD bless you and your family

I have found it useful to use the theory of focusing on the the "reverse" virtue. For me that is focusing on the the love of God versus the love of myself, so focusing my prayer life on praises of God.
6 and 7 are the standard that occur when temptation begins.
The lie "God doesn't see", also for depression or dispair.

any prayer is good but i need to take actiin as well. Faith witout works is dead.

Don't forget to talk about the corresponding virtues.
Beautiful thank you Matt!!
One lie I tell myself is this
"Everyone else is able to do this stuff, and they're happy and healthy. Why am I as a Catholic depriving myself?"
Can be responded to with Psalm 73
