I was born and raised in India for 25 years. Broccoli is a winter vegetable in India (as you alluded to) and what I'm saying is that it's not as ubiquitous in Indian cuisine as is represented on this menu.
An US burger in India will not be palatable by Indians. It has to be made suitable for Indian palates. Similarly, for Indian food in the US has to be suitably modified for American palates.
India has a diverse food culture. I've had chicken tikka masala many time and so many other meat and non-meat combinations with it like paneer tikka masala. Every country improvises on their own dishes as well as foreign dishes to cater the local audience. Here in McDonald's you will find aloo tikki burger to cater many vegetarian people but does it make aloo tikki burger Indian dish or American dish ? To be honest nobody cares. This type of improvisation happens in many different kinds of cuisines. take pineapple pizza for example, is it an American dish or Italian dish ? The answer remains same NOBODY CARES !
Nice observations .. Actually there is NOTHING like INDIAN cuisine ..have you ever heard of European cuisine? .In terms of comparison One can Compare Bengali or Kashmiri cuisine with Italian or French .. I have been to many countries and by far Indian restaurants in Japan and Dubai are close to what we get in India .. In USA/Canada they tone down spices a lot ..add lots and lots of cream and most of the food is North Indian which is not even 100% Indian (introduced by invaders or migrants) or Dosas or Samosa ..Probably they should also introduce some simple yet tasty wholesome items from Bengal/Odiya/Andhra/Gujrat/Kashmir/Himachal etc ..
I agree! I am from Kolkata and host pop-ups where I cook the dishes I grew up eating. I'm hoping to help people see the variety and depth of Indian cuisine through these videos and pop-ups. Thank you for your support!
Sorry to correct you, ," Chicken tikka masala is an Indian Dish , but it has quite recently been patented by the Brits , to satisfy their colonialism ego ". If you think, I am wrong you can verify it by asking the Hen or the Rooster 🐓🐔🐓 🐓🐔🐓🐔🐓🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐔🐓🐓🐔🐔🐓🐔🐓🐔.
Have you been to India ever? I have been eating broccoli cauliflower curry all winter. We prepare broccoli pickle, boroccoli pakode as street food etc

It's difficult to get chicken tikka masala in India... We don't know what that dish is..!!
I know, right! I never had chicken tikka masala when I lived in India.
