    *Open the gate of tradition
To keep the tradition, the hidden things were made public.
What no one knows is the same as not existing.
We ask the world about the value of tradition that was about to disappear until ten years ago.
    *Transmit a tradition to posterity
Tenshin-ryū hyou-hō is a Japanese Traditional Martial Arts which was created by Master Tokizawa Yahei about 400 years ago.
Tenshinryu derived from the corps of shadow to protect the Tokugawa shogunate which is called “Shilin Dan (the population of samurai)”.
They served Munenori Yagyu. Munenori Yagyu has devised a lot of “Kata (techniques)”.
Tenshinryu originated from “Shinkage ryu ”. Yahei integrated the techniques of Shinkage ryu and techniques created by Munenori into Tenshinryu. Tenshinryu is handed down as a sword of samurai to serve to the castle which was called “Joshi no Ken”.

Each position of the saya has its advantages and disadvantages. I find that a more upright position is able to produce a very close range down cutting iai, but a very low or horizontal edge down iai is better for a longer range iai with more variety of possible cuts. Tachi koshirae is interesting, but i usually have just tucked it upright into my obi and used it like uchigatana.

Might I get a quick translation of what he's saying about the differences of the blade being held upright in the saya vs downward? Thanks!
