Nice job man! Only heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago and got HOOKED on it. Mainly a guitar player but also tried jamming along with it on drums too. With the tempo, found it difficult to not get ahead of myself and speed up, even just a little bit, so respect! Your single stroke rolls were clean and consistent too. First impression on your recording setup, IMO, might want to experiment with the snare mic position, bring it closer to the edge of the snare, and if there aren't any, some room mic(s) in the mix to give a more full and vibrant sound of the kit.
Thank you very much for the feedback! It's funny you say that because I definitely find a song of this tempo more difficult to play precisely than other faster/busier songs. I will for sure experiment with the placement of the snare mics (got one on the bottom of the snare too). I do have room mics in this recording, would you say I should bring them up more in the mix?
Colm does play on this track, this and Only Shallow are the only songs off Loveless that don't use drum machines. iirc Colm was having some health issues during Loveless' recording that impacted his drumming ability, and was only able to play those two tracks. Every other song on the record (that have drums) use Kevin's drum machine.
Interesting! I always wondered about that. Thanks for the information! Makes me wonder how different the album would've been if he was able to play on more songs. Although I would say this album has some of the most effective usage of drum machines I've heard. I love all the drums on this album whether they are done by drum machines or not
@@KRB_Drummer Oh, absolutely. Most of the time on the heavier tracks like When You Sleep or To Here Knows When for example you can hear slightly more it's a drum machine, but it still sounds remarkably good. And honestly I think it's part of what gives the album it's own exceptionally unique sound.

@@KRB_Drummer Welcome!
Been learning to play Soon on guitar recently. I swear you're following my exact music history LOL
Haha awesome! We must have very similar tastes then :)
Great stuff. Would you happen to have the sheet music?
Thank you! I don't have it but I could write it out for you!
Awesome cover. Was this Colm or the drum machine Kev was using?
Thank you! I could be wrong but it feels like a drum machine was used for this song
@KRB_Drummer I think you're right sounds very staccato to me

favorite MBV song?
Hmm it's hard to pick just one but I would say Soon because it was my first exposure to MBV and the song that got me into the band. What about you?
Mines sometimes✋
