How To Connect Wired Headphones To An iPad Pro 2020 - USB C To 3.5mm TRRS Headphone & Mic Adapter
In this video I'm showing how to connect wired headphones to the iPad Pro 2020. To do this we simply use a USB C to headphone adapter cable.
I show two adapter cables in the video, one is the Samsung and the other is an adapter by iNassen. The iNassen has a high sample rate headphone DAC in it, I will do a video about this one soon.
Because the Samsung USB C to headphone adapter is designed for Samsung smartphones, although it does work with the iPad and also iPhone. It has a microphone input as well because it is TRRS. This is why the mic on the Apple earpods works with the iPad Pro.
I'll be doing a couple more videos about using microphones with the iPad Pro 2020, using the same adapter cable and also using a a USB audio interface.

I am so incredibly unhappy with Apple for removing the headphone jack. I often wonder what is wrong with that company. For those of us who like to keep the device plugged in while also using headphones, we now cannot do that. I swear, Apple irritates me with their ridiculous changes at every turn. Thanks to people like you, I can sort of deal with the changes, and I appreciate your help. I still may return the iPad pro, even so, because I just don’t like the machine or the changes.
Fully agreed. On Smartphones it is understandable (much smaller, IP68 rating, more suitable for jogging...) but on BIG tablets its downright STUPID.

I’m not finding that this helps for me sorry. Do you have any other possible fixes for this. Maybe the adapter I got just doesn’t work lol there doesn’t seem to be any clear reason as to why this isn’t working. Great video still, I can see it helped loads of others. :)

If you have the apple keyboard for the pro it give you extra c port for charging or listening. For sure for expensive but if you’re getting the pro I don’t think it’ll be a problem

Bought several usb-c audio/charge adapters for use with wired head phones on my elderly (deaf) mother in law’s iPad. ( 10th generation 2022) We communicate using FaceTime. When she is wearing the wired headphones ( hard of hearing) her iPad internal microphone cuts out - so she can hear me and my wife - but we cannot hear her voice.
We tried several different brand usb-c audio/ charge adapters with the same issue - the internal Mike shuts down . Only one adapter allowed her to use the head phones and still talk to us ( internal Mike still functioning) - Belkin 3.5 Audio+usb-c charge adapter - 3:15 3:15 model # NPA004V2.

Hello I got an iPad pro 2018. I bought yesterday an hyper x cloud 2 and the apple adapter. So when I connect the device it doesn't sound, but makes noisy bip bip.

Sorry, I’ve not used that headset so don’t have first hand experience. However, if it is TRS or TRRS wired then it should as this is standard wiring. Cheers, Dave.

I think it has to do with iPadOS 14. since iPadOS 14.2 I can‘t use my USBc dongles or hyperdrive port anymore.

I bought the Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter and the sound is awful, it sounds muffled especially when there is bass. I can't figure out if it's the ipad or the dongle. The lightning dongle is fine with the iPhone though

Yes but no… ipad does 60 ish ohms max and the headphones do 250 ohms so it won’t be loud you’d need the beyerdynamics 32 ohm version for top quality

I use an ipad with adaptor for professionaly playin g drum tracks at live gigs it is a disaster as the device goes momentarily to zero volume at irregular intervals whenecer it feels like it ,only suitable for personal entertainment . Noone seems to have a clue why

I bought USB C earbuds, but they dontvwork on Ipad or Samsung. The lousy solution is to buy and adapter and use my 3.5mm buds instead with it. In 2023 what was once simple is now a cluster FK.

Alright Chris. I don't use MAC. There was a similar function via an app that could work on other platforms but I've not tried that either. My iPad is always in use, it's usually sitting next to my PCs so wouldn't be so useful as a second monitor as it's always usually doing something. I may have to Hackintosh one of my PCs for shits and giggles and try out the sidecar for a laugh. Cheers, dave.

The last Pc I built was a few years before I got my G5 back in 2004 so I've been well and truly on the indoctrinated Apple path for a while (mainly for Logic Pro) I'm sick of them taking away the ability to upgrade. This last Macbook Pro I bought can't even have a larger hard drive in it. not even enough space to install Native Komplete! I'm not that bothered about graphics really. I don't play games on a computer, it is mostly just going to be for audio, so I think just a decent motherboard and processor (AMD or Intel, whichever), plenty of ram and a quick 2tb SSD will be fine. Will throw a second drive in as well to handle sample libraries and such. Has it been worth doing all the upscaling to 8k? It is a noticeable difference? It would be hard to tell on this screen I've got anyway, it's only the basic Macbook Pro one whatever that is lol.
Will keep checking on your ebay. I've got a basic monitor 1080p I think? that I use as a second screen for this laptop. So might upgrade, and get a new one for the new Pc.
btw the last time I built a pc I bought most of the components from the computer fair at Everton Sports Centre. Used to love going there.

I have the original apple adapter but it doesn’t work like if I plug it in like shown in the video first I have to connect the adapter then connect the headphone if I directly connect the headphone it doesn’t work

I switched to ipad pro 2020 and im using the same adapter plugged with a Samsung headphones but the sounds are not as before and they are weak i can't enjoy the game with this problem 💔
I can hear audio but when I go to answer a call or go into in game voice chat like pubg the audio comes out of the iPad not the earbuds

Well I upgraded from an iPad Air 2 to a M2 iPad Pro and now I can’t use my Lighting Earpods to edit videos. I don’t really feel like Spending over $100 for some Good Headphones so I’ll just get some new EarPods and an Adapter.

I have a problem, when I connect the adapter, the iPad starts to increase and decrease the volume randomly. Why and is there a solution?
It’s a shame the actual Apple 3.5mm cables (USB-C, Lightning etc) are so crap. They work but the cable part is so thin and feeble. I bought a better quality braided USB-C to 3.5mm cable made by UGREEN. didn’t work at all with my iPad. Not all cables are created equal.
I also have the Apple cable and its crap, its making static noises every now and then and have to re-plug it in.
I was thinking of buying the UGREEN one for my new iPad, it isn't compatible with it? What do you use now for the iPad? Because I am throwing those Apple cable in the bin.
@@dawsac2335 tbh the ugreen cables dont work as well, it only works for my andriod device that has a type c jack
