Great Video.... nothing better than camping out in the snow when you have the proper equipment.... good tent, clothes, beer, real food, Alcohol, snacks, beer, insulated sleep pad and proper rated sleeping bad, beer, a nice fire to sit around and beer.
One of my favorites. You all looked like you were having fun and were so much more relaxed than usual despite the cold. Loved the second childhood moments with the sled. I know Mike needed it. He really seemed more relaxed than usual. Good times, guys. Maybe should do it more often.
Thanks guys for the great video. Watching Mike sledding was so funny I kept watching it over and over. Great beer selection also. And who doesn't love a good steak. Mike congrats on your expanded family. You are a great dad that I'm sure your kids look up to. So good to see you guys together out on the trail. Great friends are a gift from god. Take care both of you and hope to see you soon. Peace.
Hey Sintax, I have been watching your videos for about half a year, and they have totally inspired me and my husband! We both decided we were going to give backpacking a try. We started with day hikes, and we have been slowly increasing our mileage. We started carrying heavier and heavier packs, and we are officially going on our first real backpacking trip this weekend! Thanks for putting in all the hard work!
I always appreciate Mike's attitude on these trips, up for anything, ready to deal with anything. Great video once again, please keep filming these trips!
I LOLed hard, cause at first I was watching from a distance. not reading the text. I thought Mike was blowing a bundle aflame, but was thinking "too Close!!" watched it again. bemused. good duo.
I have watched all of your videos and this one is one of your best! You guys are a blast and know how to have fun for sure! I almost died when Mike's face caught on fire that was brilliant!
This video is way better than those "survivalist" videos that don't really look that fun. You guys actually looked like you enjoyed yourselves. Definitely need to do a trip like this next winter with some friends.
After spending 4 days in Death Valley National Park, your video was a really "cool" way to get back home. Thanks again for you artistry and congratulations to Mike for his new family members. Paul
Too old and decrepid to mount a pack and head out anymore. As a young man I used to head to the white Mountains all the time. Fall and winter were the best time, no bugs and no worry of food spoiling for lack of rerigeration, fresh meat in particular. I now enjoy tagging along on your NH adventures.
I'm 65,just waiting for my back to heal. Will be ready this winter. Can't do many miles like when i was young. Too many mile's wit ha weeks worth of stuff and my part of the mortar. I still use military surplus. Youth is wasted on the young. Nice video guy's,really enjoyed it. Cheers
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing this fun video. It's good that you brought Mike along on this trip. : - ) He is quite the work horse, plus he cooks. Wise idea to camp at a lower elevation and be out the wind. I'm sorry that I missed your dinner and lunch invitation. You guys be safe out there and continue to have lots of fun. 🤗
That tubing is tap lines for collecting Maple Sap for making Maple Syrup. Its common place to take the taps out of the trees after the season in the spring. They might be left over from the last season or new taps for the up coming season.
Hey guys. You're videos are truly growing on me. You guys work well together and have a relaxed wit that adds to the hard core adventure! Keep up the good work gentlemen!
I like the long mileage trip videos with all the cool views, but man do I love these trip videos where it's just you and Mike hanging out on a short hike/ heavy loadout. like the Harper's Ferry trip and the tunnel trip.
It certainly is nice to switch it up now and then. Especially in the Winter - snowshoeing up a 2,000' push sucks a lot more than some wood fired steaks ;)
Nice video and congrats to Trailkilla on the new one. Made my first pulk sled this winter. Makes it easier to bring in some extra goodies as you know. You both take care, Al
I was really enjoying your video; watching the end and then realized when you were in the car that I didn't want it to end. Brings back all the times that I have been out with my best friend and didn't want it to end. Just having fun and doing (safe but stupid) stuff. I have really enjoyed every video you have made.
Beer and steaks in the Whites made for a perfect winter trip. We had a very strange winter in Northern Michigan. The temperatures stayed above average most of the time and we had rain in January for the first time that I can remember. Lake Superior never froze!! Two years ago it was almost 100% ice. Bailing from the Michigan plan for the Whites was a good idea for this year. Bob
I was wondering if you could do a review on the MSR Rapidfire. I recently got one and like it a lot. I'm curious on your long term thoughts on the stove. Thanks!
This video is awesome thanks for making such a detailed record. I love camping but I'm moving back to MA from 9 years in Saudi. These videos answer pretty much all my questions about adapting to the very different climate.
Hi, Shawn & Mike ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Awesome Great snow hiking adventure I have been waiting to watch this video, I’m always surprised at the new gear y’all bring along that sled was an awesome idea to help in packing extra essentials for the trip and looked like a lot of fun sledding down the mountain. The last 5 weeks it starts raining on Thursday and lasting thru the weekend here in Ga I am enjoying watching both of y’all’s outdoor hiking adventures. Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great Friday !!! Danny
Fun video. Love the Costco black and yellow crates. I'd consider using a tarp and some line and putting most of my pack on the sled, but if you're young, weight matters not.
Awesome Video. I see you got your question answered. We see those tubes here in Canada all the time...eh. After all we do live on Maple Syrup and Bacon. Also...-14 is a mild Canadian winter day. Lol Keep up the awesome videos.
Awesome video, you are living life to the fullest. Fortunate that you can get out as often as you do. keep the videos coming.Have you ever hiked the Tuscarora Trail?
hey guys love watching your outdoor adventures keep up the good job heading outdoors it inspire me to get up of my butt and go outdoors ma self hahaha . stay safe always and God bless
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR FOSSIL PLATE , BOWL , CUP KIT! I REMEMBER DOING A SNOW CAMP WITH THE BOY SCOUTS IN NINTH GRADE IN WEST VIRGINIA, WE ENDED UP MAKING IGLOOS OVER OUR TENTS TO KEEP WARMER FUN TIMES.
Haha, Thanks, Gary. I even made some steaks tonight in honor of this video being finished. They was quite good, but nothing compares to the wood fired ones we made that night. :)
Enjoyed the video, and what I learned about tapping Maple trees. With pulling a Pulk sled up the side of a mountain, you both might find the info on a "Z Drag Recovery Rope System" useful. Only in this case, the recovery object is a tree, and the immovable object is the sled. Might come in handy.
Love the video (as usual.....)! I have a question about your video equipment and so on. I'm pretty sure you did a video on this at one point, but I just can't seem to find it (trust me I tried.....) and I'm pretty sure your setup has changed since then. Can you do an updated video one of these days, about your video equipment, how you've set it up, especially on how you carry it (and what all you bring....) and what you use to edit them and tips about that? I'm going on a multi day hiking trip soon and I want to bring "stuff" to do videos. So far I've just done around the campsite and a big Roadtrip I did last year with my buddy from Holland..... This time I'll be walking as well. Thanks in advance and keep them coming.
Hi, Eric. That's not a bad idea, since you are correct - my setup has changed a bit since then. Actually it changed pretty recently, so the system is still evolving, but once it settles in, I'll probably do another gear video to anser common questions on my setup. In the mean time, here's a link to my previous camera gear vid. ua-cam.com/video/JZJ8gk4uB2A/v-deo.html The main thing that has changed is main cam - from a Sony Cam to a pocket cinema cam, but many of the philosophies of my kit are still the same.
sintax77: thanks for the quick response and the link back to the "old" video. I notice that's already back in 2015..... Are your still using the Ribz front pack? I am working on figuring out a way to actually hang a bag (could even be my current video bag.....) from my backpack straps in the front and then bungee the bottom of the bag to my hip belt to prevent it from bouncing around too much, or something like that. I'm pretty much done with the concept, except for executing the straps and bungees.... I'm thinking about making a short video once done. Looking forward to your updated one!
Wow, I didn't realize it was that long ago already either. That's a testament to the Ribz front pack though - I still take it on every trip to keep my camera gear and accessories close at hand. There's a couple holes from a critter that tried to chew through it a while back, but other than that, it's still going strong.
Don't know for sure but I wonder if the tubing you found is from a maple syrup operation. Years ago the buckets were replaced by tubing that allowed the raw sap to run down directly to the storage tank so it can be picked up and then boiled down to syrup. Just a hunch...
Great Video.... nothing better than camping out in the snow when you have the proper equipment.... good tent, clothes, beer, real food, Alcohol, snacks, beer, insulated sleep pad and proper rated sleeping bad, beer, a nice fire to sit around and beer.

Sintax and Trailkilla does it again - another great video.
As soon as I see that Sintax upload notification I watch it ASAP. Never gets old.
I like Mike's spreadsheet analysis of the beer inventory, along with the game plan to keep said beers from freezing. Steaks look great too.
Hey Sintax,
I have been watching your videos for about half a year, and they have totally inspired me and my husband! We both decided we were going to give backpacking a try. We started with day hikes, and we have been slowly increasing our mileage. We started carrying heavier and heavier packs, and we are officially going on our first real backpacking trip this weekend! +Heather Bean That's awesome! Congrats on getting out there and good luck on the trip!
I always appreciate Mike's attitude on these trips, up for anything, ready to deal with anything. Great video once again, please keep filming these trips!
Well done boys! I nearly choked on my coffee watching the "ancient fire starting method" bit. lol Great job.
I LOLed hard, cause at first I was watching from a distance. not reading the text. I thought Mike was blowing a bundle aflame, but was thinking "too Close!!" watched it again. bemused. good duo.
Fun video. Best bush crafting instructions ever... bring food/don't starve!
Haha - Thanks, Marty. ;)
I’m cracking up at how well thought out the beer situation was! That definitely got my subscribe!
I have watched all of your videos and this one is one of your best! You guys are a blast and know how to have fun for sure! I almost died when Mike's face caught on fire that was brilliant!
Mike is definite comedy relief - I laughed out loud watching him on the sled.
This video is way better than those "survivalist" videos that don't really look that fun. You guys actually looked like you enjoyed yourselves. Definitely need to do a trip like this next winter with some friends.
+Jonah Underwood Don't forget the Italian subs ;)
Outstanding ! Steaks, beer, sled riding, it will cleanse the soul. Mike rockin' the Glock jacket. Another good video. Thanks
Thanks, Rich. We had a great time.
Tapping trees for making maple syrup... you made winter camping look fun, thanks!
After spending 4 days in Death Valley National Park, your video was a really "cool" way to get back home. Thanks again for you artistry and congratulations to Mike for his new family members.

Love this. Your both just two big kids having fun and chilling. Literally. Lol. Makes me wish we had mountains and stuff where I live to do that.
Nice, the dynamic duo is back! lol
You all have reached the pinnacle of camping...this is the highest level..
Looks like fun.........wow..look at all that snow...good luck guys...
"People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end." Love this video so much.
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing this fun video. It's good that you brought Mike along on this trip. : - ) He is quite the work horse, plus he cooks. Thanks for taking the time to share your adventure. Looks fun.
Thanks, Talktech. This trip was a really good time.
That tubing is tap lines for collecting Maple Sap for making Maple Syrup. Its common place to take the taps out of the trees after the season in the spring. They might be left over from the last season or new taps for the up coming season.
+Justin Goodwin Thanks, Justin. That's an embarrassingly simple answer. :D
Justin Goodwin thank you for that.
Yeah it is in VT- where I am from-thats the only reason I know.
Unite A ?
That tubing for the Maple sap is strung around the forest near the Appalachia
trailhead each year. You'll see it near Lowe's as well.
I enjoyed tagging on to your trip. I pack in a thermos for winter trips. Thanks for the laughs.
+Kurt Baier Thanks, Kurt. Glad to have you along :)
Glad to see trailslippa back!! Like always, great video! Keep em coming!
Looked like a great time, and quality video as usual! Glad no one almost died this time:)
I know.. . The one time we had a sled to litter out Mike, and zero significant casualties.
Another great video from Sintax and Trailkilla! It is fun to just camp once in awhile, although you guys Had a good workout going in!
Unicorn Bacon! You two have so much fun. That's what it's all about. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Hey guys. You're videos are truly growing on me. You guys work well together and have a relaxed wit that adds to the hard core adventure! Keep up the good work gentlemen!
Hands down the best shot and best edited video you've put out so far.
Last 2 videos were off the hook! Your my favorite Y-tuber! I LOVE vicarious vacations! I just spent nine days in the 4 corners.
I like the long mileage trip videos with all the cool views, but man do I love these trip videos where it's just you and Mike hanging out on a short hike/ heavy loadout. like the Harper's Ferry trip and the tunnel trip.

I've seen the light! Great video boys! Im a fan! Lynn XXX
Great video. Loved the time-lapse of taking down camp and the driving away sequence. Great video work. Made me want to go on a trip like that.
Thanks, Josh! Glad you liked it.
Great video as always. good to see the two of you out on another one of your misadventures. It is strange the taps are in as early as February.
And it's right along a trail on National Forest property which seems a little weird. Maybe we've got a case of Maple Syrup Poaching! :o
Great to see another video in my home state!! Love the videos. Keep up the great work!!
+Mark Belanger Thanks, Mark! NH is my favorite deep winter spot, for sure.
I was wondering if you could do a review on the MSR Rapidfire. I recently got one and like it a lot. I'm curious on your long term thoughts on the stove. Thanks!
Always looking forward too your next adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Great job on the color grading! Very cinematic
Steak Knives? LOL.... That's funny. Love watching your hikes/camps man.
Always something with Mike, injury, damaged gear, left the hiking shoes at home. But always fun to watch!
Stumbled on to your video...loved it! Subscribed right away! Way to get out there and have some fun, great food and a few beers!
+timberdogz Thanks, Timberdogz. Welcome aboard :)
The transition at 46:45 is brilliant.
Sintax77 winter video looks like Christmas in April for me
That is A LOT of work. Thank you both so much.
Loved every min of this vid.
This video is awesome thanks for making such a detailed record. I love camping but I'm moving back to MA from 9 years in Saudi. These videos answer pretty much all my questions about adapting to the very different climate.
I love it that you're wearing a flyers hat.
Great adventure guys... well I'll be on one off the snowmobiles...:)
woah lol looks like a good way to have fun in the snow
great trip guys, i really enjoy these videos because we dont get enough sow here anymore to amount to anything.
Love your videos. So we'll done...every time.
the tubing is for maple sap collection for syrup and sugar
It’s still there in 2024.
Hi, Shawn & Mike ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Awesome Great snow hiking adventure I have been waiting to watch this video, I’m always surprised at the new gear y’all bring along that sled was an awesome idea to help in packing extra essentials for the trip and looked like a lot of fun sledding down the mountain. great trip... looked cold !
Thanks for another great vid guys!
Glorious Video as always guys! Id love to get up to the white mountains someday. I'm stuck in the Midwest for the time being.
+Valscorn01 Thanks, Valscorn. Hopefully you'll get the chance some day. It's an awesome area for camping and backpacking.
You guys need to go in together on a Seek Outside tipi and woodstove for your winter trips. They seem like they're made for you! Great vid!
Just check out their website. Oh, man...
Fun video. Love the Costco black and yellow crates. I'd consider using a tarp and some line and putting most of my pack on the sled, but if you're young, weight matters not.
Good video guys, I enjoyed it.
Awesome Video.
I see you got your question answered. We see those tubes here in Canada all the time...eh. After all we do live on Maple Syrup and Bacon.
Also...-14 is a mild Canadian winter day. Lol
Keep up the awesome videos.
You guys are always awesome. Do more vids!
That was fun Syntax. Thanks
butter, salt, pepper, honey, brussel sprouts, center cut bacon.... very yummy back country recipes
Congrats on the new edition TrailKilla ! missed this video somehow.. this winter or I'm stuck insome time warp
Awsome video, I really enioy watching your adventures.
fire vid!! Delaneys is the best spot after a hike!
well done mates ...lol great channel you boys crack me up
keep having fun out there
Awesome video, you are living life to the fullest. Fortunate that you can get out as often as you do. keep the videos coming.Have you ever hiked the Tuscarora Trail?
you should get the peak design shoulder strap for camera gear. Makes a big difference when vlogging while backpacking.
Tubing is for sap. Tubes are strung along and taped into maples. Tubes are then connected together for easier sap collection
Thanks!
The tubing is called a "sugaring line". Collects the sap to make syrup. In VT you can hardly walk through a forest without crossing them constantly.
great video thanks for sharing
Made my morning!
great video! mike is cool, have mike join you more often in your videos
dope trip. would have loved to have been there. well played on the beer sled. next time trow some cinnamon in the bulletproof coffee!
Ah, cinnamon. That does sound good...
Liked the sled, too.
You guys should definitely open an extreme survival camp!!!
teetotally loved this vid---awesome beer bar! ;)
hey guys love watching your outdoor adventures keep up the good job heading outdoors it inspire me to get up of my butt and go outdoors ma self hahaha . stay safe always and God bless
+Ian Hamilton Takimoto Thanks, Ian!

ok. finally convinced to grow a beard as well. it's hard to beat that fire starting method @44:10
You guys are insane ... I love it!! way to go mix'n it up and redeem yourselves. Your vids are always a treat, I can almost taste those steaks :p
Haha, Thanks, Gary. I even made some steaks tonight in honor of this video being finished. They was quite good, but nothing compares to the wood fired ones we made that night. :)
The tubing is for Maple Syrup draining.
the old metal cans are rarely used anymore.
+David Mason Thanks! I'll check that out.
The philly hat kills me.. #pittsburgh guy here. Love the rivalry. Still much respect to you though.. hope all is well!
Haha, understood! ;)

Lighten your load guys. Wipe the snow off the sled. Enjoyed this trip as usual.
That was so cool thanks for sharing 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your winter trips make me cold. ❄️⛺️☃️❄️😳
epic pleasures in the deep cold. nice
Great video. But cracks me up us old guys been using pulk sleds for years and hot tents .Every would laugh at us ...lol now it's the thing ..lmao
Did you create the song @56:35? That was really nice. Good footage as well.
It's from Filmtsro, my video scoring software.
Don't know for sure but I wonder if the tubing you found is from a maple syrup operation. Years ago the buckets were replaced by tubing that allowed the raw sap to run down directly to the storage tank so it can be picked up and then boiled down to syrup.
Just a hunch...
If you bury your beer under 2' of snow, they snow will insulate it and keep it cold but it won't freeze.
+edy042 That's interesting, thanks!
