Sydicate is pretty high on my list of favorite AC games. I love the setting and stealth gameplay. I also Evie, although didn't like Jacob as much. I think the main thing that drags it down a bit for me is the story is too low stakes and not dark enough for the time period. Starrick was also a terrible villain. Still for me the things I like outweigh the bad.

But before that Black Flag had different difficulty levels for regions of the Caribbean, and I believe that was marked with explicit levels.
A solid mid game in my opinion, although I completely understand why people love it. Walking and jumping around London streets seeing the landmarks was really fun, as well as the fact that I was already a big fan of Victorian age fashion. For me the main drawbacks were the characters. It honestly seemed like real character development didn’t really happen until the end. Every mainline cutscene was just Evie and Jacob arguing over what their father said or something along those lines. It wasn’t until literally the final battle did things really shape up for them. Side missions were fun, a liked slowly liberating London from the gangs and the optional boss fights was a nice touch. There was always something to do for my little ADHD brain to go off and do before realising that I have to do something else before I sod off to bed. Combat was also kind of ok for me. Nothing really groundbreaking but different. The only real complaint for me is enemy types. They all seem kinda samey, just one type tends to block a lot more than the other, however it’s still fun to knock the piss outta people in the fight clubs. By the way, figure i'll drop the info here and hope you see it. From insider info from someone who was working 10 years ago on the Comic line of Minerva: AC Syndicate ending and especially the DLC were supposed to lead to Jacob becoming Jack the ripper. The first Jack the ripper mission on the main game shows a lot of "whispers" which are in fact inside Jacob himself. The DLC was originally made so, but they changed it because of the Odyssey storyline which was at the time in drafts (Origins and Odyssey drafts were being made by teams much much earlier than release). The story was changed last minute, but most elements remained: the rooks is the bad gang that Evie fights, and would you notice that Jack is NEVER shown, even when you win him, and Jacob is only shown once, in the end. The whole story and game was developed to end with the revelation that Jack was Jacob and Evie defeats him. But two siblings going against each other was to be dropped, so that Odyssey could happen. And it did. Also, the best part of the game, the World War glitch memory, was added later, for the comic line mentioned. And it is by far one of the best moments in AC Syndicate, and to this day the most modern AC memory.
I think Evie's invisibility ability should've rather been tied to that endgame isu clothes she can unlock. Would make more sense. Overall I enjoyed Syndicate way more than Unity.
And if not, maybe she could have had a default outfit that looked as inconspicuous as Jacob's default rags so that it could be explained as the "sexist Victorian dismissal of women" or something. But no, she looks like Steampunk Lady Ezio while Jacob is only a tad more ornate than most NPCs
@JonCrs10 social stealth was always funny like that, because your assassin outfit always stood out from the crowd. Social stealth was only ever done well in AC Liberation.
I honestly remembering loving syndicate. I just hate how it was 1 save file per account, and if you have it digital, you can't do new playthroughs. Probably it's biggest blunder to me
This is one of my favorite Assassin’s creed games. I personally like the combat because it’s very unique, the stealth is amazing, the parkour is very clean, I love taking over bases, the WW1 extra missions are AWESOME and the DLC is also great.
I can understand why some people would initially think parkour is pointless in syndicate, but I have to admit that I barely used carriages when I played Syndicated for the first time and whenever I decide to free roam in my free time.
Honestly, the fact that the initial serious tone of Syndicate was ditched is what did this game a disservice, in my opinion. Sure, I get that other AC fans like this game the way it is, and that's perfectly fine; but to me, the overtly goofy and whimsical tone of the game makes it difficult for me to stay invested in the story and its two main characters. Had Ubisoft just stuck with the original plan of having Syndicate be a gritty depiction of Victorian London with the character of Samuel Faye, my thoughts on this entry would be far more positive. Instead, what I'm left with is a game that took the idea of being lighthearted a tad too literally, to the point that Syndicate feels less like an Assassin's Creed game and more like a parody of one. It also doesn't help that the world of Victorian London - while beautifully recreated, don't get me wrong - is not a good environment that lends itself to parkour, or that the combat is just a button-mashing mess that looks like Tom and Jerry or the Looney Tunes, or that Crawford Starrick is painfully non-threatening and underwhelming as a main villain. Crucial factors like that just makes this game a slog.
Amazing video. Also, i’ve never played any Yakuza games before, but i’d be more than excited to learn about it if you made a video on it! Say the lore or anything else! I love assassins creed, but i’ll watch your videos no matter what content you release
Syndicate is a game of moments, picking off blighters, liberating child workers, the black box missions, in those individual moments the game drips atmosphere, it's a good game to just hang about and soak up the vibes in. This even allows them to just about get away with the overly weird "Dreadful Crimes" mission strand which was a PS4 exclusive at one time having your Frye of choice solve a number of Victorian penny dreadful style crime mysteries. But if you stop too long to think about the actual story which is that a man with mutton chops finds a golden scarf that heals all the boo boos and the Frye twins take over the London underworld to kill him and hide the scarves it's distinctly underwhelming. But some of the hit list targets on the way are far better mini-bosses, the hospital surgeon madly slicing into vulnerable people, for example. The whole thing is ridiculously inconsistent but if you can compartmentalize it a lot of it is fun. Just don't try to make it cohere in your head because that will end up with you in Lambeth Asylum, for sure.
I feel like Syndicate gets massively overlooked. Yes the parkour got simplified slightly compared to Unity but honestly the stealth is much better and the world/level design is top tier for the series.
underrated game still my favorite game because they got the Victorian Era right plus I liked they added the WW1 and Jack The Ripper DLC also the Dreadful Crimes also because Watson was there when he was little before working alongside with Sherlock Holmes.
I just finished my second play through of syndicate and loved it. I didn’t want it to end by the time I finished which surprised me. I think I was so annoyed from unity that is ruined my first play of the game. I now think syndicate is in my top 5 or 6
Funny timing, I finished the game on PS4 the same day you uploaded your video. I delayed playing the game until now because I thought the combat looked weird and unsatisfying, not to mention I heard the story was underwhelming. I was right to worry in the end, out of all the AC games, Syndicate's story and characters did not get me hooked compared to previous games. The stealth and the setting on the other hand are amazing, I have to give the game credit for that.
I kinda wished they delved more into the labor side of things. The gangs are good but when I played the karl Marx missions I was hoping there would be more assassins helping the working class narratively like organize strikes to distract factories to sneak in maybe or maybe they shift their strategy as they realize that even if they beat starrick the system he thrived in is still there and they should do their best to help the people or make changes. Like with starrick controlling everything there could’ve been something about monopolization, the treatment of workers in the name of progress
Personally, I loved Syndicate. I started playing the series late with Black Flag (still my favorite), but Syndicate took place in an important time for London. Though I wish that you could play more as Evie, I personally liked her over Jacob due to her more stealthy approach to things. My only issue is that I didn't 100% the main game before playing the Jack the Ripper DLC... it's fear mechanic spoiled me and made playing the main game again difficult. The only things I hated about that DLC were that you were stuck with Knuckle Dusters as a melee weapon and that you couldn't access any of your gear from the main game. But overall Syndicate isn't bad.
I hope Modders tackel the problem of not being able to manual Jump in the game, and maybe restore some old pre-release features like a swinging grappeling hook even tho i think that will be hard to implement, It would give Syndicate atleast 2-3 more Points in reguards to gameplay with Fan Reviews.
This was my first AC game. It was either this or unity and I was studying the Industrial Revolution in school so I chose this and I was not disappointed.
Before I watch your interpretation I want to go on record as stating that this is the best game I've ever played. Period. From the location, historical references to the stealth, attention to detail and overall gameplay. AC Syndicate has it all and Ubisoft should be commended on the production of such a masterful addition to the series. Yes. I'm a big fan.
Game would be absolutely amazing with a HUD feature to disable eagle eye wallhacks like Origins. Using the kidnap mechanic to scout areas out instead of just clicking V would give the mechanic more utility and make the game much more engaging and thought provoking
@@kyle2kyletroii because they're not YOU? Just because you find it awful doesn't mean they can't find it good/enjoyable. People are different, so the way they experience games is unique to them. I don't know how else to put this.
I’ll break up the generally similar opinions in the comment section: god I hate Syndicate. It was such a massive dumbing down of the things Unity tried, rather than polishing them. It was the first game to introduce some of the rpg style gear unlocks (remember that Unity’s leveling was based on the gear you bought, not the other way around). The characters are flat and annoying, Evie is the only one I kind of care about. If it weren’t for Odyssey’s existence this would still be my least favorite, it makes me sad to remember it exists.
Still one of my favourite AC games and the best and most immersive map they've made to date. Introduced some interesting mechanics and I loved the world building. One of the most underrated in the series imo.
I just started playing unity a few days ago. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I could live without the climbing jank and missed inputs but it's an AC game that's ACTUALLY FOCUSED ON ASSASSINATIONS. I was beginning to think that the 1st game was gonna be the only one like that.
If they kept that darker/ colorful look it would have done wonders for this games rating. The lighter tone does work at times, but certainly isn’t as atmospheric
AC Syndicate sits right at the top of all AC games for me, alongside Odyssey. Syndicate has everything while also being oddly minimalist. The setting is absolutely out of this world! The city feels so lively, and there is always something going on, all those beautiful advertising designs, the outfits, the landscapes and the citiscape. The soundtrack is beautiful, the story is good, the characters are witty and engaging, but the traversal of the world is absolutely top tier. Your own train? Zooming across rooftops? Sign me up! And I loved combat, fighting with a cane was superior. I literally can't find a single flaw in this game for myself. I hope more people give it a chance and enjoy it as much as I did :)
Syndicate is my favourite AC game, mainly because of the setting. I did like the characters a lot, and the voice acting is the best in the series imo. The amount of content is also good and the DLC is amazing. I liked the rope launcher as well, as it made actual sense (I always imagined that the templars used some Isu metal to make it, and then Bell copied it). I agree the game is not perfect, but I love it still. It also had very good stealth and the controls are fluid.
I wonder how beautiful Ubisoft Quebec will make ac codename red cause if you look at syndicate an odyssey you really see the details an the love they put in the world
My favourite after the Ezio trilogy, the massively open world ones that came after bored me to tears. Masively open worlds work when you create your own character, wandering around Egypt for hours doing side missions when your childs murderer is still on the loose... nah
The gameplay has its flaws, but the world is incredible. I can just walk around looking at all the details. Also very atmospheric. You didn’t mention the Jack the Ripper side game which is bloody good fun.
I don't love it as much as others, i like it more than odessy and valhalla, The world is gorgeous, one of my favorites, i did like the twins when they actually were together, i feel like they were apart too much, i think the game would feel more fresh if the twins intersected more, also if gameplay was more different between the 2, Like if jacob was this brutish tank and if evie was a quick stealthy fighter and you could swap mid fight (like batman and robin in arkham knight) that would make the game fresh, But as is in the game it's quite mid, other than animation changee there is not much difference. I did not mind the wide streets personally The collectables are meaningless imo The story is quite forgettable and i won't get too into it, Overall 5/10 Perfectly mid, looks nice but could have been soo much better
My real thing with the immersion aspect is that the gauntlet isn’t very hidden nor fashionable. Ezio did more with just a bracer than that syndicate did with a whole glove.
Tbh I wish Ubisoft would just let there teams cook for as long as they need to so that way games like Assassin's Creed didn't feel stale. Like Origins, even though it was the updated formula, they let that team cook on the game so it would be the best it could be.
Syndicate is possibly my favorite AC after Brotherhood and Revelations honestly. Industrial revolution is a great setting, stealth is possibly the best it ever was in this series, especially with the inclusion of kidnapping system which allows you to create your own social stealth zones even in restricted areas instead of splitting stealth segments into "tailing", "classical stealth" and "social stealth" unlike the rest of the series. I even liked the rope launcher because AC's parkour was always slow and clunky honestly even compared to Prince of Persia or especially compared to Mirror's Edge, rope launcher was a nice way gain altitude. Despite it's pros it's still flawed. I didn't liked how they implemented dual protagonists despite it being the best example of dual protagonist games, more missions should've allowed us to switch between Jacob and Evie and control both of them in the same mission rather than just final mission, they should've implemented a coop option, Unity already had coop, no idea why they removed it in Syndicate despite running on the same blueprint. Despite it's flaws one of the most underrated games in this series imo.
i only for the first time played syndicate this year. and i have to be honest. its genuinely my fave of all the AC games. despite the bugs and some repetetive content. it has a lot of soul. the historical characters are fun. and the WW1 segment alone. even if i didnt like anything else would be worth picking up the game for alone. i dont think its worth its full price. but for the cheap price i got on the steam sale. it was perfect
Playing and looking at this game i felt like i was in a time machine going back to the time of my english ancestors living in that time again and i liked it it felt right and i felt like i was back in that time that i left
In my opinion, AC Syndicat could have been a great game. I enjoyed the missions with the historical figures. But there was not enough build up for the assassination missions. You start a sequence, find out that Starrick has some person in some field and you must kill them. You do 3-4 missions in which there is almost no build up and just little information about the villains. But the actual assassination missions were good. I felt the combat and the Parkour could be improved. The Thames and the Carriage missions were also pretty good. Overall, it's worth playing for the fun gameplay. A good 6.5/10
I'm playing it right now and the game are rocks for me personal. But i can't understand something in the game ie. Fast travel.. i'm using it but it doesn't take me to the point where i want to fast travel there, instead i kept loading getting on train and always on that one spot as a start 🤔 .. Last, i don't get it what is landmark use on the map ? I'm trying go into some but doesn't find anything, is there something i miss of useful at the landmark ?
I love this game. I just really wish the friggin controls work. Cant aim the grappling hook. Randomly chooses where and when to connect. Character randomly refuses to climb up or down.
I do think there was much more work that could've been done on Syndicate, I still don't think the low ratings are just. I've been playing it recently, ane it's a solid AC game. I used to hate the no hood thing, but it DOES make you more stealthy. Whether they see your face, or not, the hood will make you stand out in their memory. Having no hood, and just looking like everyone else, it's gonna be really difficult to accurateky identify you. People don't even remember clothing well.
Played Syndicate months ago in my journey to Platinum all mainline AC games that I haven't played yet and I must say that even though it was my most anticipated one, it was kinda boring at most times and left me disappointed. Jacob never clicked but Evie kinda filled that hole for me. I get how they're trying to contrast the twins in both story and gameplay and I think it worked for the most part. The open world is beautiful and probably my 2nd favorite (next to Origins) despite the limited parkour. Its both the narrative and combat that ruins it for me. The brawl type combat (which had a lot of potential) just ended up being a mashfest. The story's generic and doesn't really utilize the time setting to its fullest (especially the modern day, that stuff dragged on). Overall, I comeback to Syndicate when I'm feeling the urge to ride a carriage and explore London. Its majestic looking in those wide streets and massive buildings while it also achieves the depressing and sickful feeling in its darkest alleys. It also probably has the most unique safe house I've ever seen! Do I like the narrative? Kinda, at times it showed promise. Is the combat my cup of tea? Not even close. But seeing how London was recreated in this time period amazes me and its something I appreciate and love in what I think is a mediocre game
Even to this very day I STILL cannot get the "World's Greatest Cane Sword" I did EVERY race and fight club and STILL didn't get it. I even uninstalled then reinstalled the game and still nothing, all because of a stupid bug Ubisoft didn't check to fix! 😡💢
Personally loved syndicate, and it's one of my favourites. I played on pc back in day and it was extremely good looking at highest settings. It wasn't exactly changing, but it was really really fun. The fighting mechanics made it very easy to feel overpowered, but fuck me it was fun. The parkour was the best it's ever been imo. I loved the setting, the humour and even the challenges didn't necessarily feel like bloat, because...it was fun. Origins is probably my favourite, but that's more to do with Bayek, the fight mechanics and parkour are definitely less fun and more dark souls esque

Yes the parkour got simplified slightly compared to Unity but honestly the stealth is much better and the world/level design is top tier for the series.
my favorite ac game by far, despite all its flaws this game feels tailored directly to me, so to me its perfect
Man I wish that WW1 segment wasn't so short
underrated game still my favorite game because they got the Victorian Era right plus I liked they added the WW1 and Jack The Ripper DLC also the Dreadful Crimes also because Watson was there when he was little before working alongside with Sherlock Holmes.
It is still my favorite and heck I am 40 and there since the beginning of AC.
This is in my top 3 AC games.
horrible take
@@kyle2kyletroii it’s not a take. It’s a statement of fact that it’s in the 3 most enjoyable of the series for ME.
@@jeflip942 but it’s literally an awful game how did you not hate yourself playing that in the same manner that I did
@@kyle2kyletroii because they're not YOU? Just because you find it awful doesn't mean they can't find it good/enjoyable. People are different, so the way they experience games is unique to them. I don't know how else to put this.
@@monkebro1820 yeah but there’s literally one gameplay aspect that someone could possibly find enjoyable
I disagree i absolutely loved syndicate he is 100 percent wrong its one of the best in the franchise
I recently played Origins / Odyssey and their DLC, but now am playing Syndicate and love it!....This game is underrated
I was 8 year's old when i can walk can't believe i spent half on my life on bed
It was a good Game, good setting, good stealth, nice story
syndicate is one of the best ac games in my opinion

I like Syndicate. It’s not my favourite AC game by any means but I did enjoy playing it. Especially with the DLC’s.
I've recently replayed Unity and, ironically, if they bothered to fix the fkin game, it could have experienced a resurgence.
AC Syndicate is the first of the old style AC games I have beaten and I absolutely loved it. I’m now playing Unity.
Glad to hear it. Victorian England is awesome for this
Syndicate is my favourite AC game, mainly because of the setting.
Probably would be better if Evie was the only playable character. Cause her brother is fricken annoying and juvenile
I don't love it as much as others, i like it more than odessy and valhalla,
The world is gorgeous, one of my favorites, i did like the twins when they actually were together, i feel like they were apart too much, i think the game would feel more fresh if the twins intersected more, also if gameplay was more different between the 2,
Like if jacob was this brutish tank and if evie was a quick stealthy fighter and you could swap mid fight (like batman and robin in arkham knight) that would make the game fresh,
But as is in the game it's quite mid, other than animation changee there is not much difference.
I did not mind the wide streets personally
The collectables are meaningless imo
The story is quite forgettable and i won't get too into it,
Overall 5/10
Perfectly mid, looks nice but could have been soo much better
The WW2 section was fire
My real thing with the immersion aspect is that the gauntlet isn’t very hidden nor fashionable. Ezio did more with just a bracer than that syndicate did with a whole glove.
The game is currently being given away for FREE.
Syndicate is not my favourite game but it’s definitely not bad, I enjoyed it and had fun though
I can wait for AC Red parkour with kaginawa- like a true ninja 🥷🏿
The black box missions felt reminiscent of the hitman titles, and I thought it worked nicely
My dad studied EVERY SINGLE THING about it and now he is 44 and still remember his lessons 3:12
Syndicate was my first Assassin's Creed game so has a special place in my heart
I wish they had made Syndicate a wild west style cowboy game since it's based in 1868, imagine a cowboy assassin 🔥
Isn’t syndicate the only ac game that far into the timeline or time period?👀
Bloody love syndicate
Love your videos but as someone who lives ion England, you are pronouncing the river “Thames” incorrectly. It’s not “Fames” rather it’s “Tems”
Evie turning invisible is unrealistic in a game series where you play a murderer who Forrest Gump’s through history
Playing and looking at this game i felt like i was in a time machine going back to the time of my english ancestors living in that time again and i liked it it felt right and i felt like i was back in that time that i left
Replaying in it now in 2024 im having fun with the crime investigations i forgot complete in my first run
A good 6.5/10
AC Syndicate is currently for free on Ubisoft store. Offer valid till December the 6th.
And YT just suggested me this video ;)
oh that's very convinient haha
but it unfortunately they said is not available in my country :')
I love Syndicate and its characters, combat and assassinations - despite its glitches and issues
First AC I played.
This game is free on the Ubisoft store right now until the 6th.
Love Syndicate, including the Ripper DLC.
How do you manage to have the hood ON all time?
I'm late to this but always sneaking is how
Aside from ac games what are some other games or game series you enjoy also what is your favourite game
So much potential
so my goal is to play every ac game so i have ac vallalha ac3 ac1 ac2 ac origins ac revelations ac unity and ac black flag
Chronicles?
Do you have brotherhood, rogue, and syndicate
Haveing ran thru 1-revaltions a year ago and this year running thru 3-unity
Not finished with unity mainly cuz im not looking forward to syndicate lmao
So videos like these are kinda helpful.
Hot Take: Assassin's Creed Syndicate needs a remake.
Maybe a sequel.. but *NOT* a remake. It still holds up very well I’m graphics and simple mechanics compared to the latest games
Why exactly would it need a remake it was made in 2015 it’s very recent that’s like remaking splatoon it’s to new to do that
my dad got me into ac when i was in 4th grade and that was when vahalla came out he let me try it out but a couple days ago i got my first ac game syndicate it was free on ubisoft on pc nd it still is it ends on dec 7 im 13 now.
You can’t convince me Jacob knows people because his ass would have gotten kicked out if I’d he was in any other ac game
Jacob on his way to be the dumbest assassin in the series main character-wise (He is actually a descendent of one of the ISU)
I liked syndicate
But the broken state of the game and the glitched meaning I had wasted 58 hrs and a multitude of bugs that made unity looks the most polished AC game
Still would see it as a superior unity if only it wasn’t that freaking broken on consoles
It was the first AC game that I didn’t finish
I beat syndicate like two weeks ago, what a coincidence
