  • The postmodern worldview is upon us. Relative truth replaces the absolute truth upon which we could reasonably depend. The push now is to scour the public arena of religious belief. Dominicans have a single mission - to preach the Word but in the last 50 years, there are 60% less religious. That leaves the lay members of the Order to stand up and jump into the fray.

Can a Lay Dominican belong to a parish that does not sponsor a Lay Dominican Fraternity?

Yes, I fit that category. Not only does my local parish not sponsor a lay Dominican chapter, but neither does a lay Dominican chapter exist in my diocese. I travel to a parish in an adjacent diocese for monthly meetings, and when that isn't possible because of weather and/or road conditions, I attend via Skype connection. Physical travel and attendance at the annual chapter retreat is, however, a requirement.
