I landed a Protean just before the end of they year, it's absolutely phenomenal. Quickly became my #1 as well. Battles for pocket time with my Roosevelt on the daily. Excellent user and unique looking too (have the blue/silver NACA grid). Can't go wrong with that as your top choice for the all around champ, I'm with you there!

This may be a dumb question however I've only been collecting for about 6 months. How do you know which skiff bearings to buy for your knife?

There is a page through skiff dedicated to telling you which ones to get. Or you can get the tool from skiff (it’s inexpensive) to measure yourself

Luv ur vid. Rob, u need to rate Protean even higher ... lol,... why? ... Well, couple of days ago, I found THE way to thumb front flip open it. Wow, this bring Protean to another level of enjoyment, bigger smile on my face.... So, can you front flip open it? a challenge,.. lol... or continue to read to find what I found: .. I use my thumb nail to dig into the first dip/jimping on the front flipper, don't use thumb meat, but nail. + a little wrist action, u can open it in no time, both right and left hand,.. lol... njoy

YOUR OPINION IS WRONG! lol - there's obviosly no such thing as wrong opinion. Great selection of knives, brave to include the Militaw in the top 5 but with my limited knowledge I think it's fantastic, stylish and the action is so, so smooth.

I’m sorry but the midtech category 3 of the 4 are production made knifes and not midtechs at all. Midtechs are knifes that the materials are out sourced and then the final build/ touches are done by a custom maker. Nice knifes but that’s my understanding of midtechs is that they are semi custom made and not just an expensive production knife
