I was part of the original security team there from 1/2004 to 9/2009. I could have worked there for the rest of my life. Unfortunately things didn't work out for me there. It was the best experience I've ever had in my life. I truly miss the Udvar Hazy Center

2:57 Ten Boeing Stratoliners were built and one-and-a-half are left: this aircraft and another which was converted into a house boat. I saw it in Fort Lauderdale in November 2010. When it was a complete aircraft, it was actually owned by Howard Hughes during the War and he had enough influence to be able to tell the government to get lost when they wanted to commandeer his private airliner for the War Effort.
A lot of the technology developed for the Stratoliner was carried over to the B17 bomber.
There have been a few changes and additions since I was in this museum in January 2010. I must go back. A return visit is on my To-Do List next time I'm in the US.
