Most Famous Unreleased Movies

- Terrible movies are released all the time, even if the release date is moved around to correspond with the slowest possible release schedule to attempt to maximize what meager profits they’ll make. Even so, there are a surprising amount of movies that never get released. Usually, this isn’t related to the quality of the film, though that is one of the many reasons a film will go unseen.

This needs a Part II! There have to be a ton more. One that comes to mind is the Sgt. Rock movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Sgt. I remember seeing trailers for it in a theater, but maybe that was all that got made.
The Rock should play Sgt. Rock
Stabbed by a member of the Hell's Angels... who were working as security for the Rolling Stones at the time. It's kind of a relevant piece of the story...
One of my honorary uncles who ran around my Hometown raising hoe when they were younger with my actual Uncle's is in that documentary. Hes close to the stage in the crowd taller than most of them with his giant Ginger Afro and mustache grinning from ear to ear. He's hard to miss.
Apparently the guy who was killed had pulled a gun and was going to shoot Mick Jagger.
My favorite story about "The Day the Clown Cried" is from Patton Oswalt, who heard a rumor that Jerry kept the film in a briefcase with him at all times. So when he was being interviewed by Jerry for a charity performance, ne noticed a briefcase on the desk, and all Patton could think was "...what if I just grabbed the briefcase?"
**grabbed the briefcase, got home and busted it open to find an assortment of suction cup-sex toys
@@dsxa918 JACKPOT!
0:27 - I won’t hear a word said against Frankenhooker, it’s a bona fide classic!
"You wanna date?" A true classic.
"The Day the Clown Cried" sounds like it could have actually become a pretty good dramatic tragedy film if it had only been handled correctly.
You can get parts of it on UA-cam.
I was thinking the same it makes a statement. I think they should remake it with the same plot.
big huge noope - anyone releasing this would be buried in lawsuits both domestic and international(depending whether you live in Israel and or US) as well as cancelled by current culture
@@pesokpesok Sounds like it got cancelled by a previous generation's culture.
Very true, and it's a darn shame that because the rights were never fully secured, we may never see it properly come to light. Unless said rights have gone somewhere they could be bought...
The movie Life is Beautiful (1997) seems to capture a similar essence of Lewis' clown movie, or at least what I suspect the clown movie to be. Life is Beautiful is a fantastic film I never want to see again and I'm not sure if it could be made today.
Add to that list The Pianist and Requiem for a dream, excellent movies that I'll never want to see again.
Might have to look that one up.
_Adam Resurrected_ (starring Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe) is possibly even closer.
Even though it's Italian?
@@SirBlackReeds The country of origin or language spoken doesn't enter into it. I was pointing out an overall similarity at least in my opinion based on the characters and setting.
Nothing wrong with Frankenhooker, I have so many happy childhood memories from that film.
From what I remember, it's a love story. A little bit of an odd love story; but from a certain perspective, aren't all love stories a bit odd?
Frankenhooker is right up there with Flesh Gordon, Jekyl and Hyde Together Again and Orgasmo, great movies
I still like bitches with stitches
I never would have thought I would hear about that movie again. My dad never should have let me watch that as a kid.
“Got any money? Wanna party?”
As someone who works in Hollywood, it is sadly very common for studio meddling to ruin great movies.
I don't know about Simon, but I plan on being alive in 100 years to see that movie.
How shocking for the Rolling Stones that a film depicted them doing the sorts of things everyone assumed they were doing anyway.
Lets face it, the rolling stones are trash human beings.
Assumptions are one thing, publicly showing you doing it on video is quite another. And getting banned from your largest market isn't exactly ideal.
Don't disrespect Roger Corman. The guy's a B Movie legend.
The Eichinger-Corman Fantastic Four did end up getting release on UA-cam, twice. I'm surprised Black Water Transit, Dark Blood (River Phoenix's final film), The Brave, and Empires of the Deep weren't mentioned.
I'm disappointed Goncharov (1973) didn't make the list.
This could be a jumping off point for looking at massive movie productions and their scales in time, people and materials.
If anything, the idea of Jerry Lewis trying to do a dramatic role that dark is interesting, even if the film does turn out to be bad.
@@squantohaze5562 Jerry's movies were usually silly/straight up comedies while Robin often played "dealing with bad things with humor" roles in dramas, so straight drama wasn't as much of a stretch for him. One Hour Photo's got an 81% by critics & 65 by audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, btw.
If you want to see Lewis in a serious role, check out The Family Jewels (1965). Although overall a Lewis comedy, his brief role as a cynical, bitter clown is almost ferocious in its intensity. Grinds the movie to a dead stop.
Jerry Lewis was pretty good in "The King of Comedy".
Roger Corman is a film legend. Some of his movies are absolutely terrible, but there are several which are pretty damn fun!
The Saint Valentines Day Massacre and The Masque of the Red Death are good movies.
The Brave. It was written and directed and stars Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando. Made in 1997.
500,000+ feature length movies and I still have to use 12 different streaming services to see just 1%...ah the future is grand!

Don’t talk shit about Frankenhooker
Correction. The Rolling Stones played in Detroit in 1964. I saved the review plus ad for the concert in the two Detroit newspapers. The Stones were unknown in the U.S. at the time and the audience only numbered about 400 enthusiastic teenagers. The group's 1964 U.S. tour seems to be "lost" in most references to the band. (I'm not a fan but hate sloppy research).
I'm sure it was a typo, or he mistook the 9 for a 4. It's common knowledge that the Altamont incident took place in 1969.
Hey, Frankenhooker is a classic. Her "You wanna a date" line was hilarious. LOL
Trailer of 2115: "You will never see this movie"
People born in 2015: "Wanna bet something?"
Im planning to live to 127 years old so, i think ill see it lol
Pretty sure nobody is going to see it. It will be forgotten.
@@AKMackle Lol, I've always said 138 years for me.
The Rolling Stones movie sounds absolutely epic
If you do a follow-up to this PLEASE cover the unreleased pro wrestlers vs space aliens movie Blood Circus! It gained a fanbase because of these promotional videos that were sent around to a lot of US video rental stores in the late 80s that consisted of a trailer followed by an hour-long informercial for a cheap jewelry company. (Available on UA-cam.)
And the story behind it sounds like some crazy film noir.
I was at The SD Comic-Con the year The Fantastic Four people had their booth. They had the movie playing on a tv. It was early 80s bad but in the early 90s.
5:44 how optimistic of them to think that humanity will last that long at this rate
Really.
The Rolling Stones song, reminds me of a similar story about a song by Tool. I'm sure there are many other bands that had similar falling outs with their record label, but Tool reportedly wrote the song "Ticks and Leeches" after the record execs told them there album wasn't heavy enough, wasn't enough like their previous albums. Funny thing is, the record execs evidently didn't get that te song was directed at them, as the song was included on the album Lateralus.
Even if they did get the intended insult, money is money, and their ego can suck most anything up when some coin is involved.
It's an excellent song, money aside. I might have heard that before but it's not stuck with me well for the sake of it being at least as engaging as the rest of an excellent album. It's never stood out to me, enough, as being noteworthy that way, but it is one of my favourotes personally,
Suicidal Tendencies did the same with their Suicidal for Life album. They were beyond fed up by their then record label trying to control their creativity and content of their music. So the first 6 songs on the Suicidal for Life album are heavily embellished with swear words so the album wouldn't get any if at all airplay. It worked, the label cancelled their contract and they rebooted their Suicidal record label.
As a lifelong film buff, I would really like to see all of these.
@@scottneil1187 - Thanks Scott. I’ll check it out.
A movie starry Harry Nilsson and Ringo Star about Frankenstein was never released but an album was.
No Batgirl being erased....that just happened
Wasn't a movie.
Hey! Frankenhooker was a masterpiece!
"The Day the Clown Cried" is a story that reminds me of Robert Dorsay, a German actor, who was killed for having told a joke about Hitler.
ua-cam.com/video/jQ-_G3cTJz8/v-deo.html
The joke was: Hitler is visiting a town. A little girl hands him a handful of dust instead of the usual flowers. Hitler is confused and asks her, what he is supposed to do with this. The girl answers: "Everybody says that things will get better, once the Führer bites the dust."
Executed Oct. 29th, 1943 in Berlin Plötzensee
I highly doubt that since "biting the dust" isn't a german saying, neither now nor then. No german would understand it's meaning.
Switch Lewis with Daniel Day Lewis in that movie and it'll be an instant academy award
I want The Day The Clown Cried to be released just so Diamanda Hagan can do a review of it.
Frankenhooker's one of my favorite movies!
I doubt it would help that things like "Barn of the Blood Llamas" and "Devil Girl from Mars" exist. I also seem to recall reading about a movie about a killer tumbleweed somewhere. Oh, and let's not forget "Vampire Vixens from Venus." That the "hero" of *that* epic bears even a very slight resemblance to Oliver Trouton is in itself a crime against nature.
And Rubber from 2010. It's a movie about a killer car tire, where the tire is the main character.
@@Kevin_Street Rubber is surprisingly a good movie.
The Rolling Stones did show clips from that film (not sure I can use the title as it might get blocked lol) in their "Video Rewind" release in the 80s. Only a few minutes worth, but that's the closest it'll probably ever get to an official release. I do have a bootleg copy of the full film and while it is an interesting historical document, it's not exactly the most exciting film to watch. There's a lot of shocking images, but there's also a lot of long, dull scenes that don't even involve any of the Stones.
Another film that we'll (probably) never see is All American Massacre, an unofficial sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Due to the rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise being all over the place, it's unlikely they'll ever be able to give it a proper release. On top of that, it was a very low budget passion project by the son of the director of the original 2 films in the series and he ran out of money half way through post production. Several attempts to get the film finished over the years have failed and even those involved with the production have stated that it'll probably never see the light of day.
The stones doc is on youtube as well surprisingly
I was just commenting on another video that I have worked on 3 different feature films and none of them will ever be released. Two of them should never be seen, but the third was actually pretty good but because of distribution and rights BS it's forever in limbo.
What movies?
What is the music at 1:20, I have heard it before like in some flyover sequences etc. It is not "The Falling".
I love Birdemic and Frankenhooker, but I feel they are not quite on the same level of "bad". Birdemic had a budget of $10,000, which you can see. They really tried. 😅
watch samurai cop ;)
Birdemic is funny, but Frankenhooker is an absolute scream. I watch it every few months.
I loved Frankenhooker as a campy schlocky film.
Have you seen the Corridor Crew video about Birdemic? They redid the VFX so that they're at least watchable.
@@jeanfrancoisdutremble9022 I've seen Samurai Cop! 🤣
Given the many existential crises humanity is facing I doubt anyone in 2115 will see 100 years either.
The Day the Clown Cried was just a bit too soon. Robin Williams would later do a comedy-drama of the holocaust that is often fondly remembered. If it had been released, that would have been one of the first movies to depict those events. Long before Schindler's List.
All hail Simon the Legend! Cheers from Tennessee
Tennessee here too. And Simon is an absolute legend.
@@Whowascooley With as many channels he has, it's like he owns YT. Allegedly. The Whistlerverse is my favourites. Cheers
@@Hillbilly001 Agreed
Boxing Helena was released, which proves that there is no limit on how bad a movie is to not releasing it.
Ferrari Testarossa is an ICON.
that judge just sealed my disbelief in humanity and the judical system.
I had a feeling the roger corman fantastic 4 would be on this list. First up!
Big Brain!
Hey. Frankenhooker is fantastic
Your show should have closed-captioning.
Frankenhooker is amazing
Anybody else looking how to stay alive by 2115?
My plan is bathing in virgin blood 🦇
3:24 Yes familiar with the story. Was wondering though, as he was paid not to release it, did he end up donating that money to the charity?
What is the worst movie you have ever seen?
Newborns: The green lantern!
Me: Oh, you lucky bastards! You who know nothing! You have never experienced Hell! (slipping into war shellshock)
HAHA Frankenhooker! I used to own the dvd with push button on it that would have the box say "wanna date?" everytime you pressed it.
I’d SO love that!
Roger Corman is an awesome director. Corman would use movie sets twice, once for a big budget movie and again for a B-movie.
The anticipation for "The Day the Clown Cried" going public is so hyped up I'm guessing that the only thing that could be dissapointing about it is it being too good....we're expecting "The Room" times 10, anything less will be a let down.
A movie that can be added to the list is batgirl they finished the movie but aren’t going to release it due to the guy that plays the flash character being fired because he has a significant role in the movie and it won’t match up with the other movies
How about a similar video but for music albums we'll never hear?
Things like "Witches and other night fears" by H.I.M, which the band's singer refuses to release because he hated the way his vocals sound on it.
Lol, Frankenhookers😂 That film was really weird, but funny😋
No it’s crazy i was literally just thinking about that Malkovitch movie last night like bro really they made a movie nobody alive today will see. It better be worth it man😂
I have doubts about it. If the director thought it was going to be an ad, how long and involved could it be?
This guy and Thoughty2 are legends.
Thoughty2 just gives off weird vibes.
@@mirzaahmed6589 I've watched him forever and don't get anything creepy from him.
I like Thoughty2. Good random content.
Simon we need DTU March 8 1994 Michigan Please make it happen
They have the 1994 unreleased fantastic 4 movie on UA-cam. Full movie.
Simon's over here besmirching Frankenhooker...
"A special kind of sociopath". Obviously, you are not familiar with the movie industry. Nothing special about sociopaths there.
Was i dreaming or does Simon not get bleeped on other channels?
I'm pretty sure he censors most of his channels. Our minds are good at filling things in so it could be just a false memory type thing. Maybe Casual Crim is not bleeped? But I think it is too.
Update: Watching a DTU episode now and Simon is totally ripping unbleeped f bombs, so nope you aren't dreaming. It may be something he bases on wether or not it's monetized.
"A particular kind of sociopath" you mean like movie producers?
Looky here, man. Samurai Cop got made, so ANYTHING and EVERYTHING has got a chance.
I had a poster on my childhood wall of Frankenhooker! I've never heard anyone mention it before; I wasn't sure it was even real.
I've been hearing about that "100 year" John Malkovich movie for years! I wanna see it soooo bad!!! Come on life extension!!
It's gonna be wrong on nearly every front.
@@RHCole yes. So?
Simon is the first name of 2 of my favorite creators 👍
No way!
They're the same guy, he just has a whole bunch of channels.
God's name is Simon too. Cool
@@henryp.5213 I know that I'm talking about Simon Whistler and Simon Miller
I saw a Vulcan in the thumbnail... Where was the Vulcan in these movies..
If unreleased can include unmade, Jodorovsky's Dune would be at the top of my list
Comparing Frankenhooker to Birdemic is fighting talk!
The timing with this video is impecable considering tumblr is going mad about Martin Scorsese's "Goncharov"
What about "Spaceballs 3, the search for spaceballs 2". That would be a good one.
I seem to remember diggin' Frankenhooker - when I watched it high in 1990.
That 100 year movie sounds so pretentious, I bet people are gonna be massively disappointed once it comes out.
Howard Stern has been trying to buy “The Day the Clown Cried” for decades.
I had always heard there was a sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I want to see the day the clown cried.
How many SHOTS did it take Remy Martin to make a movie???
100
That one in the safe - what are the chances that 1. it's just a rubbish piece of advertising 2. NO ONE will care when it's actually shown. I mean I remember hearing about it when it was made, and if I hadn't seen this video - I doubt I would have remembered. But it got publicity at the time and that tells you pretty much everything you need to know.
They day the Clown Cried sounds like an interesting movie premise Lewis is not the person to pull it off but as a dark movie i'd watch it.
I take offense to the bad-mouthing of the cinematic masterpiece that is Frankenhooker. I saw it at my local comic book store and had to buy it just for the title but I've never actually sat down and watched it.
I can't believe that I've never heard of this Rolling Stones movie ever. I really really really want to watch that film now. I have to find it!
The 100 year old film might be too ancient to be able view it.
Don’t forget the essential movie “Zombie Strippers” as one that is allowed to exist…
Remy Martin assuming they'll still be around in 100 years is quite presumptuous. Not saying they couldn't be; but you never know what's going to happen and 100 years is a LONG TIME.
Right On! Frankenhooker, I thought I hallucinated that, lol. Out of sight!
The College of Corman has graduated a great deal of actors, directors, writers & more that have made names for themselves in the Biz.
Ron Howard & Jack Nicholson are just two.
I believe Jim Cameron worked for him before busting out his blockbusters as well
I'm sorry, but "Frankenhooker" isn't 'allowed' to exist. "Frankenhooker" NEEDS to exist because it is NECESSARY that "Frankenhooker" exists.
I was hoping you give a mention to "cracker" because of its inflammatory nature, that thing will never see the light of day.
So, with "the Day the Clown Died", this all kind of sounds like the problem may have been that the original book was an unreadable piece of shit - especially if the original script was based closely on the book.I'm just speculating, of course, but it wouldn't surprise me.
With books about unlikeable characters, it all comes down to this: if the writing doesn't have enough depth and characterisation, it's completely pointless. Like, as a reader, you are completely apathetic, you don't care about the characters or what happens, you're bored and won't finish it. And I have very low tolerance for moronic writers who use tragic events (or worse, tragic *historic* events) to try to shoehorn in the depth, drama or meaning that their writing lacks (here's a hint: it really doesn't work).
For that second movie, the one that won't be seen for one hundred years. Did they leave equipment with it to be viewed on? Cause even if that exists in one hundred years no one can test if it's the right projector without the film.
Has anybody seen 2015 movie called "Queen of the Desert"? First of all, it's not "Priscilla Queen of the Desert." This one stars Nicole Kidman and Robert Pattinson. It's very good, the true life story of a British woman during early 1900s, about her archaeology in the Middle East. Of course there's romance and political intrigue. Lawrence of Arabia is in her story. Why no advertising about this, I don't know.
The clown cried thing sounds really good but the productions feels like a mess
Van Morrison literally titled an album Contractual Obligation. It was horrible and terrible and horribly terrible. Yes he is a piece of dirt, but the rest of his music is pretty amazing.
Yeah. Much like Pink Floyd's last contractual effort album. I think the Title was "Dish Pan Hands". Not TOO sure about that. I was at Ben Frank's twice a day at the time.
Well... Have an UMMAGUMMA Christmas and a Near-New Year.
Outta here!
🧠💨😑💥🔫
I didn't know where Ben Frank's was, because I'm a Yank, but I figured you for a right bellend and it became clear. ;)
That "100 years" film; if they wait 100 years there will be nothing to project it with. The format of the film will be so antiquated it will be unviewable.
We become more technologically advanced by the day. If people want to watch it, we'll easily be able to recreate a projector that would play it, or make a new better projector that can play it. As long as it's not lost or degraded, it'll be able to be watched somehow
What about Jodorovsky's Dune? That has to be the most famous non-released movie.
Did that even have enough of it made to be called a movie?
