Mr. B. Dylan Hollis is the most refreshing thing online in a long time. He really has two different personalities inside him; one personality for his shorts and one for his longer videos and both are people I would gladly spend an unusual amount of time with in the kitchen. In this video, however, he’s neither of those refreshing and delightful personalities that I’ve come to adore but as others have mentioned, if he gets more comfortable in the set, he should be able bring out a third person that I would call my friend. I didn't have ill will, honest... but I damn well caused as much harm as someone who would have. I'm 100% in the wrong, & I'm terribly sorry for it.
I can remove it if you want to heal your beautiful comment's vibes, or leave it as a badge of my shame, & a reminder for me to never talk like that to someone ever again, especially when they absolutely deserved better. It's up to you...
I always forget just how smooth and pleasant dylan's normal speaking voice sounds
I've never before been so happy for a true misfit weirdo achieving this level of success. It's like a victory for all weirdos and misfits everywhere.
...and as a reward they tell him to not act like himself!
I had the mock apple pie once in my teens, and it's wild how close to a real apple pie it tasted.
Dylan IS SUCH an old man. He didn't stand up straight once in the whole video. He has baker's back. 😅
"am I saying that just cuz it's in my book? Yes" 😂😂 this is why I love you Dylan, a cook book author we can trust!
I bought it on my kindle yesterday. It just made me happy to support this man's efforts.
Love this guy. His own channel really lets his true personality shine. He's a bit inhibited here, haha.
I think he is adorable. He is so smart and so talented. (ever see him play the piano?) I love watching his shorts... he is so self aware and so adorable. Don't ever change❤
Piano and accordion!
@@suddenlycrowsI just read that as Pirahna and accordion, and it still works.😂
I miss his chaotic energy... so funny to see him behaving in a professional setting but once in a while, his personality comes out... You be you, Dylan!
Love the video, but it just isn't the same without his full sense of humor and innuendo. I get it, it's not HIS video, but his publisher's. The lighting is far too bright and the set too fake. But then, it is impossible to top the perfection of his full personality in his own charming kitchen. Did anyone else notice the lack of lemon juice in the second pie? He mentions it, but did not add it in the video. I also love how he measured the cream of tartar, not leveling off the measuring spoon, it's how I measure things.😆 I got the cookbook today and I am delighted with it. Oh my heart, he dedicated it to his grandma! He has commentary on each recipe that makes it a fun read. My daughter is allergic to apples, so I will definitely be making this pie. I highly recommend his Peanut Butter Bread recipe.
Am I the only one still waiting for the lemon juice to be added to his mock apple pie?
I thought I was the only one! Good to know I'm not losing it 😅
He probably left it out so that you'd have to buy the book!!
I backed up the video when I was watching just to make sure. There was no lemon in that pie! Luckily he brought a pre-made one with him.🤭
I scoured the comments looking for this exactly
Did he forget to put it in, or did it get cut? We shall never know.
I just got my book today. This is an awesome book. It's well made and very easy to understand!!! Love it and love the author. Dude, don't change!! You're awesome!!!
Dylan should totally get his own baking show
He already has it. TickTok & UA-cam
The days of the television are done, I think.
@@KristineMaitland Even if that were true, which isn't necesarrily as there are a plethera of streaming services people still use, He could easily have a show be on youtube of all places.
Dylan is absolutely "Adorkable" ! My copy of his book should arrive on Monday
I wonder what the Rock Arbour Pie would be like with chunky applesauce (that's just been cooked rather than run through a foley food mill or otherwise smoothed). Also this is lovely, I've missed your longform baking videos!
I love this young man! His videos are a wonderful combination of delightful and hilarious. Reading his cookbook is almost as good as watching his longer version videos.
I have your cook book. Your videos make me happy. I'm 69 years old. Your happiness you show is great.
Oh Dylan ❤more please sir
As soon as he said apple sauce, I knew that was going to be a lemon meringue pie without the lemon.
This man is precious.
I love Dylan. I hope this isn't the end to his manic short form videos.
I love watching him. You can tell he truly gets joy out of what he's doing.
4:50 The look he gave the tablespoon when the flour didn't come out is priceless. 🤣
Love Dylan!!! 😂❤ Got his book in the mail today. I’m so excited to start trying his recipes!!!😁
I like this guy. He is easy to watch. A bit of a riot. Funny. Also, a jazz genius at the piano.
Dylan is the greatest! So excited for his book. As a Gen Xer who grew up eating some of these treats at grandmas’ parties and aunties’ potlucks, I can’t wait to start baking some yesteryear of my own.
I love Dylan unleashed.
If Dylan is calling something "a little extra", you *know* it's extra!
Dylan never change! You are a delight to watch and I love your creations dearly!
For a second I thought we had been blessed with a new long-form video on Dylan's channel... I'll take what I can get.
When I was a kid (back in the 60s) we made the mock apple pie. My mom said she originally made it when she was a teen, during the rationing of WWII. And she wanted to prove to us that it was real.
Dylan, congratulations on the release of your cookbook. I got it two days ago from Amazon and I am thrilled! I love watching your videos they make me smile and laugh and teach me things. I wish you much success with your cookbook.
"Medical sheen"!!! had me falling off my chair laughing!!! I have recently discovered all your videos, Dylan, including the "shorts", and have enjoyed every single one of them. I love your baking style, and your sense of humor is delightfully hilarious! I'm definitely adding your new cookbook to my Christmas wish list!!!!! Keep up the good work! ☺
I just got dylan's cookbook and I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes-this guy makes baking fun and his recipes are truely unique,
Bought the book. Gave 2 more to friends. Yes I am in. My favorite so far is the potato chocolate cake. Made it 3x. Switched to pecans for the last one and equally fabulous. The whipped cream cake was easy and delicious. More like a pound cake than angel food but no matter. It had WHIPPED CREAM. What not to love. Off to make the next thing on the list. I have years of gems from my mother. No instructions of course but as you are learning as long as you have patience you will be fine. Keep the fun coming. Oh and love the car. I have my own 1964 gem named Edna.
Mr.
Also, if you haven’t bought his cookbook yet, why not?? I bought on July 26 but I received a damaged spine so I gave it to my brother and I promptly bought another one for myself!!
Oh my, a subdued Dylan. He did good keeping a lid on his usual exuberant enthusiasm, but he just couldn't help reacting to the sound of beating the egg yolks & the apple sauce going into the bowl.
Hope the cookbook does well Dylan.

I so hope this is the start of a series for Dylan! At least long enough to highlight several of his recipes alongside older recipes, like this set. Thank you, Dylan! You are always a delight to watch.
The audio of the wet ingredients from the first pie hitting the bowl and the pie crust is priceless.
I like how with different editing tricks he seems like more of a madman
“Dylan you’re a madman!”
_”I know,”_
You never fail to make me laugh, Dylan
I got your book today! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ It was a birthday gift from my husband. I can’t wait to explore every inch!
I LOVE THIS GUY!!!! Bought the book and another for my daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxx
For your apple sauce pie, I can see a valid application of green apple jell-o to hold it all together.
It feels weird seeing him head on like this and not from an angle on a counter. Love this for him.
Congrats Dylan! I'm so happy to see you enjoying yourself. I learn so much from you and have become a better baker. Awesome sauce!
I love this guy even more when I can see him edited for more than 8seconds of attention. Really winds up and thrusts whisk first into that cinnamon synonym. Always a got’damn delight
Keep them coming Dylan. I love watching your videos
I pre-ordered Baking Yesteryear the minute Dylan announced his publication and it was delivered yesterday.
To anyone who hasn't seen his videos......watch them!
And to anyone who doesn't his own new cookbook yet....buy it!
Either way, it's a win!
can't wait to get his cookbook!!!
IT'S DYLAN HOLLIS WEEK! Wonderful!!!! Thank you for your presence and also for your fun cookbook 🥰
Got my copy yesterday...absolutely love it. I hear Dylan's voice when I read the recipes. Cannot wait to start baking!!! May try the SpaghettiOs ring just to gross out the kiddos!!
Watching this with an ear to ear grin. You fly high, Dylan!!
