*Games Been Out for like a year in Japan and relies on bottom screen to draw a map*

AkuExtraThicc, they have there focus on the switch, but you still need to support what used to be your money maker. Not only that but you can't just cancel a game that has already been out in Japan for a year. Cancelling development of current games for the handheld just to speed up the console game market would be destroying games that have already spent a lot of their budget.
worm master, yes and etrian odyssey 5 is already in the 3ds before the switch, so its logical to just localize the game to NA than port it to the switch, since it costs more dough to do that..
Don't think you can use the tablet version and tv on at the same time.

I've only played Etrian Odyssey 4, but I absolutely fell in love with it when I bought it by accident because I wanted to buy Etrian Mystery Dungeon to scratch that mystery dungeon itch in between PMD games but got the games mixed up.
I've never been happier to make a mistake in my life, I loved every bit of that game, from the story to the battles to drawing my own map (reminds me of when I tried to map out the first Metroid game on a piece of paper), to the dungeons to the *music*. With the first person dungeon exploration, it scratched an itch I never knew I had- I'd never played a game like this or like the old SMT's but I still felt a weird kind of nostalgia. Am I the only one who gets nostalgia for things I've never experienced?

I bought EO Untold just because it was on sale on the eshop, and now I've beaten Untold, Mystery Dungeon, EO4, and Untold 2. The series is perfect for a JRPG fan like me.
You should nab 3 and the Untolds so you can play the whole series.
The story for this game feels more like my own rather than a story about characters and etc.

1. Game was made before the switch was even announced, been out in Japan since August
2. EO has always had the staple of drawing your own map on the bottom screen, this can't be done on the switch.

Atlus is not nintendo, they're owned by Sega. Besides, it takes years to develop a game, they probably started development before the Switch was even a concept.

I actually own a switch, I love it, I want more games for it, but not THIS game, where the 2nd screen is a necessity & it has already been out long before the switch was.

I think a switch release would be rad it has a touchscreen and it's pretty portable though I see how it could have some UI hurdles but that's what devs are for.

Ram I get that. But you can't use the touchscreen and look at the environment simultaneously. It could have been possible on the Wii U though.
My point is that yes its possible for EO to be on the switch, but the EO formula will have to be completely redesigned

I know that. But it's not the same without the double screen. To be able to compare labyrinth and map at the same time without having to open a menu is what makes it unique.
I guess that's an option(?) Not optimal, but hey. If that ever keeps this franchise alive, count me in.

Nice, I've been waiting for EO V to come out here, been playing the Japanese version for some time but it doesn't work that great when I can only understand certain parts of the story, because of the lack of knowledge of the language and all that-
Still, it's been pretty fun, I love that you can change the colors of the hair, eyes and skin now, the extra minions / non-party members slots, as well as getting exp for finding events, that sort of things are really some of the new things I really loved in this one so far, can't wait to fully understand the story now (as well as having a nicer time trying to understand what the skills do)
Finally! The American localization is here! I can't wait till fall to continue my adventure! Time to head straight to the top!
P.S.- Don't talk about the Switch. The 3DS will always be my portable console.

Question. Wanted to get into the series but with this many numbers do I need to play previous titles to know story of each one is different or barely need to know previous one?
I've only played 4, but from the looks of it, it's just like Final Fantasy : all independent from one another, but you may miss out on subtle references here and there.
Actually, unlike Final Fantasy most if not all the EO games are in the same world. But it's definitely not necessary to play the other games to fully understand the story, I guess unless your going from 1 to 2.

I think it might be alright, didnt play alright.
the pokemon ones are actually good at the ds titles. (Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, i especially like the plot)
and maybe at super mystery dungeon but it cuts some cool features.
I loved 4. played and mapped every inch of it. Sadly I think that with this series if you play one, you´ve played them all.
Atlus I’m just saying why don’t you add a new dlc where we get to see what is in the volcanoes and weird chrom tower in the main overworld poster please do it would be amazing
