Gene is the part of DNA which take part in protein synthesis through transcription and translation. There is distinct relationship between body's chemical and mental status of organism. For example, when electrolyte balance of the body disturbed then mentally a person suffers loss of memorisation. The diseases like Parkinson's, Wilson's etc are due to the metabolic disorder of iron , copper etc. So in a way gene is the major factor . Modern synthetic theory of evolution explained the role of evolutionary forces like natural selection, variation, isolation etc on origin of species. And we have enough evidences which favours organic evolution. So conciousness which is an unique characteristic of living being some how related to physical body. This question always trouble me. How conciousness came to the body? Is gene play a role? Still confusing.
