I love Mary so much! I slowly started watching her videos a few weeks ago which has now turned into me binging her content. She’s amazing!!! I love how ethical she is with thrifting and styling people.
I agree about goodwill. I used to work for them. It was not a positive experience. I live in Maryland, btw. You are right about the vintage. They put it online if they think it’s more valuable.
I completely agree about Goodwill. I'm fortunate where I'm located that I'm approximately 30mins in any direction from different small towns. Small towns have better thrift shops by far. Lots more vintage and special things. I just got a ridiculous 80s sparkly cobalt sweater with huge black ornate patterns all over it for $2 and I am beyond excited to wear it. Unrelated but do you watch Leena Norms? She does a whole series about taking inspiration from characters or books you love and thrifting your character. She even did a Helena Bonham Carter video which was fabulous. I feel like you guys might have similar vibes. Fun video as always Mary! Hope you have a wonderful day!
@Mary's Rack she's a really interesting person. She used to be a book editor for non fiction books. Her videos are a broad mix of things. Her personal style in my opinion is eclectic joy.
I love your videos and so enjoyed this thrifting trip (and rant) with you. You made some great finds, even on a "pain" day. (I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with chronic pain, each day is different yet one feels the need to keep going). You have such a great eye for quality garments. As for that screen saver dress, wow! Statement dressing at its best.
I've been thrifting and selling vintage for over 15 years and Goodwills prices are Ridiculous, I still shop there but I am super selective.......luckily I have found some local thrift stores with better prices.......also I find great stuff at estate sales. Southeast Texas ♥️
Goodwill. A necessary evil for me but I feel ok about it because the only one I shop at is the bins where I find treasures sold by the pound. It filthy and a bit dangerous sometimes but my cost of goods is pretty great. Love your videos!
Goodwill is a love , hate. I agree they should try and do better and the prices are over priced…. Especially for those who really need better pricing. Hopefully they’ll do better. They are doing more curated prices like a boutique. You did a find some pretty finds 😊
Yes on the Goodwill rant! I honestly rarely shop at a Goodwill retail store any more; the only one I’ve been to in the last 6 months was the outlet/bins (which I don’t do often because I always get a headache and it’s overstimulating and exhausting for me). Just not a huge fan. I also do better price and selection-wise at other regional thrift stores (which I’m fortunate to have a good selection of).
Great haul! You know you'll try on that dress😆♥️🔥 Loving your channel! I had a great haul myself today at salvation army half off! But all for me! Lol! I find that you are a lot of fun and dig your style, probably because I AM vintage! Hahaha. I love funky💖 You have a fantastic job. I'm not sure how you came up with the idea, but it sure has me thinking. Anyway thanks for putting up a channel, I've really enjoyed it!🧥👗👠👢❇️Monica❇️
You're right about Goodwill the prices are rising and I have to wonder if they think everyone is a reseller. Also 5.7 billion in profits and not paying a living wage to employees is just plain ignorant and wrong. People are paying attention to what corporations are doing especially when it comes to sustainability, respect, fairness in pricing and paying and treating employees the right amount so they can live a decent and comfortable amount. I won't donate to them anymore there are many other choices for donations also I'd rather give to places that keep prices lower. Mary keep the Screensaver dress its perfect for you're personality. It's joyful and fun just like you. Sometimes you gotta treat yourself. Sell it in a year or so its so cute it will still bring in a good amount. Take good care of yourself and your partner and happy new year.
Really enjoy your videos and your creativity and "eye for fashion". I wonder what you are doing if something smells old or stinks. Do you clean every item or give extra smelly pieces to be dry cleaned, e.g. the red Lands' End blazer? Just curious how you handle this. Greetings Lilly
Honestly I try to be so picky when sourcing I won’t buy things with a noticeable smell or even missing buttons I can replace bc I don’t have time for that! So it’s a bad investment of my time! I will throw things in the washer if need be but I don’t take anything to the cleaners bc I try to avoid project pieces at all costs
@@marysrack your welcome ,i agree with you. i now live in england and i miss the large thrift stores in americia so much . I dont know how to shop retail!!!
The Goodwill is notorious for doing shading things. The majority of their “non-profit” goes to those at the top, only a very small amount of the money people donate actually goes to the job programs, and they have even fought against raising the minimum wage. Terrible practices all around. I also can’t stand that they sell the most expensive items on the goodwill auction site and always raise the price on the “boutique” items in the stores. Adding insult to injury the fact that all of these items were given to them for free. This is why I never donate my goods to them and never give them anymore at the register.
Hi Mary! I think you replied to me. I tapped on it, then lost it. 🤷♀️ I got new eye shadow palette I think I like. Anyway, I go to pain management for my back. I totally get sitting down. 💺

that makes senseeeee
A friend found a 1940s handbag at “the bins”, paid .49 and sold it for $250. The best vintage finds were always found in the DIY Halloween.
I’m also in MD and don’t love goodwill. The one’s in PA seem to be so much better. Do you have any favorite vintage/thrift stores in MD you like?
I went and watched the other video and commented on it. 😊. I love your descriptions....... boingy material 😂😂.

Thank you for exposing goodwill!!! Brave and bold! I get sick of the condition of the same store. You have your voice as well
I try to use it!

Thank you so much! and yes pain is a PAIN!!
The dress with the fishes may have been at Walgreens last summer. It also has a Pier One rayon kinda feel.
Love the BB Dakota top and I think the off shoulder or single shoulder is still in style.
Me too!
I agree about goodwill prices. I only shop on discount days. Savers is worse and only go there on 50% off Monday's
smart plan!
Yeah, I like that ocean tank maxi too! 👍
I love it!
Some lovely bits there. I am in the UK and do a bit of reselling so I find your videos interesting and love your style ❤️
Thanks so much! 😊

You are so right pearl. There are so many good places to donate anyway. Thank you for always sharing with me and happy new year to you!
Love that Liz linen blouse AND I have extremely short arms….if your client doesn’t want it let me know.
ok!
Hi Mary, You're too cute! The fish print dress is the same dress my friend in FL has. It is a screen saver print. You should keep it.😁 TFS ✌

I also have chronic back pain. It’s a bitch! Check out McKenzie exercises and also I’ve found that stretching helps the most!
I stretch everyday! Cold plunging has been life changing
@@marysrack I’ll check that out! Thanks!
Thank you for the social justice message at the start of this video.
