It's rough and I'm from Detroit Not a place you want to live. Detroit has lots of potential to rebuild it'self but will get worse before it gets better. This is what happens when you allow democrats to run for your state. Unfortunately, I used to be the clueless liberal now I'm an informed conservative. Thank God

You're absolutely right... Kansas is a good model for everyone to copy.
Sam Brownback with a full republican legislature applied their ideology in the form of laws and tax codes. Look it up and see how well it worked out for Kansas.

If I had the money, i would open up businesses in the inner part of Detroit and create American jobs. If i were a rich man, id give back and start with Detroit. In the meantime all i,can do is pray for Detroit.

Mario Gonzalez I agree to a point but it’s not an IQ problem but an attitude problem.as long as you carry a victim attitude with a chip on your shoulder all you’ll ever be is an angry victim with a shitty attitude waiting for the very people you curse to come and fix it

Detroit is a major city with this problem however many people and cities face this outrageous tragedy. It's not going to get better and this is what it is. I have been homeless before and will be soon again and eating out of dumpsters and taking up space at a shelter but hey, that's why I paid taxes for 45 years for security in old age. Life on the streets is going to become more and more common and this is what it is.

Yes, factories closed but closures can happen anywhere at any time. Doing drugs, never saved any money is a recipe for disaster. Stop blaming everyone else. They didn't have money saved nor had a back up plan. plus doing drugs and liquor doesn't help.I have always saved money and worked a lot of unforgiving jobs but my family were always fed, clothed and warm in their own beds in a nice home. If you work hard and save for emergencies or exit plans, you will never be homeless. never.

I can say with experience only near open businesses isa safe area in 2024, i had to drive in Detroit for a construction detour. I saw gangs with guns mounted on pick up trucks, guarding the gang line. The police will not evn go there. Fire department does not respond to fires. They are shot at. This is an accurate video in 2025. My Grandfather lived in Detroit and would get nervous and say" i have guns everywhere in here. You must leave now. I have the gun loaded. Get in your van and lock the doors. Cover the kids with a blanket. Do not stop. I saw the fear in his eyes. He stood on the porch with his firearm until I drove off. RIP Grandpa and thank you for your love. Now I am homeless. I understand the fear of evil that is now everywhere. I am old. Praying my number is called soon. 🔜

That's my hometown, and I recognize several empty buildings in this video that were razed last year. Only the building on the left @ 3:46 of the video still exists in that area, because it is being redeveloped into an arena district, with 50+ blocks of new retail, residential and green space. His claim of the majority of the buildings in downtown Detroit not occupied isn't true either. I don't know when this documentary was made, but investors such as quicken Loans and Rock ventures has purchased and filled up those buildings or redeveloped them into lofts and apartments to fill a high demand for housing in the cities core. over 80 percent of the buildings are occupied now. This video is nearly 10 years old.

People blame politicians, yet it's free capitalism. Companies can come and go as they please, it's not up to governments how free enterprise works. If tax goes up, companies up and leave, but even if tax is low, companies can leave anyway for cheap labor or bulid robots to do the work. The uneducated people are just.....well collateral damage. Societies problems like housing, health-care ect is governments issues, not companies. Decay of Detroit is well.... Normal, it's life moving on.

allowing imports of foreign automobiles from countries like china along with the city of detroit not offering these american auto plants incentives to stay in detroit so they didnt go to canada probably played a huge part in all of this. Along with the weak political system and police presence to stamp out the drugs.
