May I kindly ask if I'm doing a study comparing gender differences on how males and females perceive a construct (which contains 3 dimensions), how should I do the qualitative data analysis to answer my research questions using Nvivo?
Should I have two independent projects based on gender and then code/categorise/thematize each gender's data independently and then compare the two group's themes and codes?
Or should I code/categorise/thematize all the transcripts together in one Nvivo project, and after that, let’s see how different codes/themes are present more frequently in each gender so that we can find the differences then?
Sorry, I am really new to the software and to qualitative analysis. I appreciate you very much your time but It would be great if you would be so kind as to answer my questions. Thx a lot!
You're welcome!! I would choose the second option (i.e. "should I code/categorise/thematize all the transcripts together in one Nvivo project, and after that, let’s see how different codes/themes are present more frequently in each gender so that we can find the differences then?").
In one project, you could code the data addressing each of the three dissensions related to the research questions. After developing themes, you then compare males and females.

Dr. Philip, thank you so much for your presentation. I'm having the hardest time trying to use Anotations and Memos. I can create a Memo, but no matter what I do, I cant create new annotations based on my data. What do you think I'm doing wrong?
You're welcome! It works from my end. I selected a portion of the data and 'Control' click on it and go to 'New Annotation'.

Hi Dr Phillip, Thank you for your videos. I'm quite frustrated because I have spent a number of days coding interview data- only to learn that NVIVO for Mac does not produce reports. I wonder other than word clouds etc what the point of the data is without reports. Especially given that you can now feed reports in to Ai for lots of help.

Hi - very helpful presentation thankyou. I am trying to print references associated with each node. When I export them to print I have no options to include the node names. Is there a way to do this? Also I would like to print a full transcript and see the code stripes next to it - is this possible? Thanks very much
You're welcome!! Normally, if you 'control click' on any of the codes and go to 'Export' and select 'Code book', you can download all the codes (with their respective number of files and references) in Excel format.
Nvivo doesn't have the option to download transcripts with code stripes.
