    Needlessly brutal for a song from before even WW2 much less any sort of modern recording technology. I love it.

    I'm recording (and performing) this in March 2024 (and not this Schuller version) on Naxos with Orchestra New England, James Sinclair conducting and looking forward to it. Very challenging and very cool piece of music. I'm already studying and putting it together.... and this is 9/23

    It's "Chromâtimelôdtune." Two circumflexes. No "c" in the middle.

      @@TheBlueCream Actually, it's an opinion. And frankly I like most or Ives. This one does nothing for me either. As good as the painting perhaps.

      @@andrewpetersen5272 it was not a completed work as Ives left it, but some loose sketch material. I've heard two other completions of the work, and each sounds completely different from this. Ives probably had yet something else in mind, if indeed he had a complete concept of the work.
