2000. I was 12. I really liked the aesthetics of the rooms and SIR the cyberbot. What I didn't know is it wasn't popular in the Magic Kingdom. That is the true reason Disney closed it.
I did. I visited regularly from 91-2000 with my parents and it was a must ride from 95 onward. I’d even “ride” several times in the same trip. I LOVED this attraction. I wish I had bought the action figures and skippy plush, but I do have an XS Tech shirt my dad bought that’s mine now, and fits. I wore it to the magic kingdom on our trip to Disney a couple weeks ago.
Thanks so much for sharing this Dave, I have great memories of my dad taking me on this when I was a kid. Terrifying but lots of fun! I wonder if Disney will ever go this dark with an attraction again!
Rode it once in my life, spent most of my childhood trips trying to avoid it, I liked the preshows and technology, closed my eyes during the whole alien encounter bit, realized it was not as terrifying as I thought, but still terrifying
I think you were not alone Andrew, Ive heard so many people say they did go near this attraction, I suppose it was pretty intense especially if your not keen on enclosed dark places & especially when you had water & stream dripping on you! Thanks for watching and commenting
I think Alien Encounter is a great example of “you’ll miss me when I’m gone”, growing up, I loved it, my sister and I enjoyed the scare and the thrill, but after it closed and looking back as an adult, I never really fully appreciated it, the design, use of sound and sensory effects, it really was a brilliant ride, and deserves a lot of respect. One of a kind
I remember this attraction and thought it was well done. I was disappointed when they reimagined it into Stiches Escape which I thought was ok but not even close to being as good as Alien Encounter. So glad you shared this- brought back a lot of memories.
I've always thought of alien encounter as the earthbound of Disney world They both have dedicated cult followings and Disney does reference the attraction every now and then
This is one experience I never got to experience. My grandparents were the ones that always took me to Disney and they never took me on it because they thought it was dumb along with Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter.
Thank God I didn’t get to experience this, (to give you an idea) I went to Stitch’s Great scape when I was like 5-6, if I would have gone to Alien Encounter, I would have had nightmares and would have cried the whole ride. Great video though, I get to see what it was before😊
This was certainly not everyone's cup of tea Andrea especially child's, I think more than anything it was Disney trying something new that would go down well with teenagers and adults, thanks for watching and commenting
I wish the people who runs the Walt Disney World Resort nowadays had still kept the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter around to this day instead of having it be replaced by Stitch's Great Escape!. It would've been the perfect attraction for Halloween every year, next to The Haunted Mansion.
I'll never forget the very first time when I had went inside the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter to see what it was like when me and my dad had revisited Walt Disney World and it really scare the hell out of me and I never wanted to go back in ever again. My dad got a kick out of it. He thought it was hilarious, God, rest his soul. Looking back at it now, I actually miss the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter and if it were still operating at Walt Disney World to this day, I wouldn't be scared of it anymore as I was then. I also went through the same thing with the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and when I revisit Walt Disney World next summer of 2022 (when and if the COVID-19 pandemic will be over), I am going to ride it. But mostly importantly, I'm going to do it for my dad!
I think dinosaurs the original ride was much more creepy. I think they have tuned it down on the scare but if I’m the magic kingdom, yeah, quite creepy if you don’t know what to expect!
Did you get to Experience Disney's Scariest attraction? Comment below & let me know
Yes, I did! June 2001, I was 5. I found it hilarious!
I did not because I was born in 2007. It closed before then.

Once again, this takes me back! Only did this a couple of times and it was pretty dark and scary for a Disney park. Great footage.

Im with you there Traveling Spanky! on that Stich re-boot! :-( It was terrible, Thanks for watching buddy
Meanwhile in an alternate universe, the Stitch attraction closes and alien encounter returned.
At least one part is correct Nick 👍
it is possible and disney Can do it. But will they?
Actually, Disney closed this ride because it wasn't popular. Stitch is a popular character, so that is why they did what they did.
Quite a difference between alien encounter and stitch lol. Very neat to see the old rides!
Your very right there Ashley, Thanks for watching and commenting

They should bring this back
Man I wish this still was open
Gojifan 79, It was quiet the experience & also something that will never been seen again at Disney World 😞
is this the original SIR voice or the one after the change :O love the video regardless
I think its the one after the change as it does sound very much like Tim Curry, Great to hear you like the video, Thanks for watching
SIR is voiced by Tim Curry, before, his name was TOM and he was voiced by Phil Hartman
TOM, like Toonami's host.@@diegofavaratozfilms962
I missed this one it looked creepy but fun
Yes your right there Crissy you described this attraction right Creepy but Fun, Thanks for watching
