This looks like a great one for those looking for another retro FPS game. It seems to have held up really well in its style and it seems to be a more budget friendly to get it in this day. While I won't be getting it, it seems like a solid for FPS fans to add to their collection, and I always appreciate the reviews.
Nice review. It is a secret masterpiece. I played it now for a couple of hours and I can say it controls well and has a very 90s design philosophy built into its core. Nightdive studios really put effort into it, to make it as enjoyable as possible in this day and age. Even after all those rereleases and newer games, like Doom, Dusk, Ion Fury, Project Warlock etc I would really recommend that one because of its Metroidvaniaesque style.
This game is brilliant. The Saturn version has aged insanely well and this remaster is truly the definitive way to play it. Nightdive did such a good job. Definitely check this out if you like OG Doom and Metroid Prime.

This looks unique and creative to me. Shooters that have crazy stories or settings and abilities have always appealed to me. I love the Bioshock games, I know this is a lot different than Bioshock but they both are creative and unique in a lot of ways. May have to pick this up.
I get what you mean .. it isn't the usual soldiers or zombies so it's unique for sure. Plus there are some weapons later on I don't want to spoil if the game is in fact new to you 😊

Absolutely! It’s extremely addictive gameplay. Perfect mix of fps and platforming. A masterpiece in my opinion and I’d love to see a full on remake, not that the remaster isn’t great.
I had it on Saturn growing up and didn't play the PlayStation version at all, but it was interesting to see the differences between all the versions when I was doing research for this review.
@@ExHardcoreGamer yeah the pc version is apparently very different to console as well. I think the metroid style ability upgrades works really well, and surprised we haven't seen more of that in FPS since.

PowerSlave is one of the pre-Metroid Prime Metroidvania shooters alongside the first two Turok games. I got all achievements in PowerSlave Exhumed a few days prior to writing this comment making it my newest game on Steam to set foot on my Perfect Games list out of my 26 Perfect Games on Steam that I'm currently rocking. PowerSlave is Metroid Prime before Metroid Prime with sprite work rather than model work and with an Egyptian skin rather than a sci fi skin. Nice video review btw!

Very nice review again, man! I think I'll buy this on GoG tonight :) But I have one last question: How does the save system work? Is it free manual saving anytime or is it autosave only?
Thank you! It is autosave only and it only saves when you complete a level. If you die while playing a level there are checkpoints but if you quit you're starting that level all over again. There's also an option to turn checkpoints off.

I love how it's made to run on modern hardware with some modern advancements but overall still feels like the original game. We need more games like this.

I am a bit confused: I am on PS4. The game offers you the two ports as options, or did they make a mix? I only played the Saturn version back in the day, and this is one of my top 10 games of all time. I really want the Saturn experience, since it was the one I played and everybody says it's superior.
Having not played the PS4 version I can't say but I know that on PC it was a case of blending elements from both Playstation and Saturn. Not quite sure what's different on PS4, sorry!
@@Someone_KhabibbeatsJonesEASILY the levels were bigger and had more to explore and an overall better design than on PlayStation. Playstation had it's benefits too which is why this port is hyped as having best of both versions. It even has both the spiders and the scorpions.

Like I said, the point I was making was more of "what made each version better" is in this. It's a great mix and definitely the best way to play the game now. Don't you hate when things like that happen! I remember getting all the way to the end of D on Saturn as a kid and getting the bad ending and it wanted me to start ALL OVER just to try again and get the good ending. No thanks!

I bought this on PS1 back in the day. It was very underrated. Highly recommended if you like FPS games.
