I dread Christmas every year. My parents and my brother have passed on. I miss them terribly this time of year. The stress of cooking, shopping, having to be places at a certain time or being told it’s my year to host hasn’t passed though!
Omg Jennifer. When you asked me how I am doing I burst into tears. My four year old just tested positive with the flu and I have had rough days and sleepless nights and also am working a full time job and feel overwhelmed. Maybe you can pray for my baby and that my son and husband (and me!) don't get sick too!! 🙏💕

I'm doing well but I will say things are very different now that this is the first year both our girls are out of the house and attending college in another state. I love all the holiday snacks and platters, so yummy to indulge a little! Thanks Jennifer ❤
We are trying to do only what has to be done each day. It's still over whelming, but things are slowly coming together. Your tablecloth from home goods is darling! I agree the table setting is really important. And I love a table set w pretty cirs and flowers
I know this can be a very trying time for people with all the hustle and bustle and yet, we still have our everyday responsibilities from work, to volunteering etc. I have a cousin’s funeral to attend tomorrow, losing a precious loved one this time of the year is rough on many. So, I take it all one day and one step at time. A few things that I have done is out of 5 holiday party invites, I bowed out of 1, I do a little gift wrapping each night, so I’m not overwhelmed the night before Xmas 🎄 trying to pull everything together. Please hang in there everyone , smile even when you don’t feel like as it can lift your spirits and others too. I’m a bit overwhelmed right now, as I host every holiday at home (and here in Spain this season ends on January 6th, with our main holiday, Epiphany’s day and the visit of the three Wise Men. I couldn’t prepare anything in advance as I had to work extra shifts the past weekends… But I’m going to be calm and enjoy the process. Thank you so much. You are a slice of light and elegance . 💕
This made me so nostalgic. Our family used to have the best Christmas'. My mother God bless her soul laid out the poshest table settings and beautiful delicious food. I've lost 13 family members since 2020. There won't be another Xmas dinner. Please enjoy every second, take as many photos, keep beautiful music playlists, make a custom essential oil blend to diffuse every year so that you can always go back to those beautiful memories. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine losing most of my family out of nowhere and wish I'd paid so much more attention sooner, I don't even have their beloved recipes. Wishing you all very happy holidays x
This has been a very overwhelming year. My husband has a major health issue, so we have been running to Dr appts & testing. When we have "nothing scheduled " we've just been spending time together to have no regrets later. I'm soooo behind on everything especially my bookkeeping responsibility. I put up outdoor decorations but don't have the energy to do our Xmas tree.
Oooh, I have been trying to think of something to take to a friend's party. I have some leftover cream cheese from cookie baking and I have puff pastry in the freezer. I think I need to try these rolls. Thank you!!
(Melanie here) This has been a rough year. My husband of 41 years was diagnosed with cancer (Multiple Myeloma) in July and is in the high risk category. He has been in and out of the hospital a lot. It is a blood and bone cancer that has no cure. There are many treatments and remission is not always attainable. Because of a tumor in his spine, he can no longer stand or walk. We do not know how much nerve damage is permanent at this point. The positive part of this journey has been the support that we have received from family, friends and our church family. Another painful part of our lives is that 2 of our adult children have not been speaking to one another for almost 2 years now. As you can imagine, there have been some difficult moments in the hospital with visitation. My husband and I are both strong in our faith and we do trust in God's presence with us - Emmanuel.
