      They're both pretty slow cars 😂. Micra is 0-60 in 13 seconds, Opel Corsas not far behind under 12 seconds 😂. England is full of lads in those cars 😂

      I can tell you for a fact the Corsa is not faster to 60
      The Micra's do 0 to 60 faster than the book states where the Corsa doesn't
      I drive a 1.6 tigra which was based on the corsa layout but is lots lighter at only 800kgs kurb weight
      The Corsa boys hate me at the lights for a 22 year old girl she's a beast of a 1.6
      Everything standard other than the air filter which is not a warm air k&n like how the boy racers fit them
      Mine uses a cabin and feed so you only hear the k&n noise once the valves in the engine have chopped the sound up at low speed in a high gear and open throttle sounds like a Subaru Impreza ISH
      At high revs it just sounds alot more angry than the standard
      but they love the sound always asking me what engine I have put in it or what's it mapped to my answer always the same what ever the factory set it at
      But my main love of the tigra chassis is the handling
      Thanks to lotus for that the Corsas didn't have lotus tweeted suspension like the later tigras did
      Little do the ricers know it's as close as you can get to a Corsa without being a Corsa
      Especially with the x16ex a very hearty engine that didnt loose out on reliability
      Absolute smile maker
      Ok no vxr but it has still supprised a few vxr's of the lights when they only just beat me and I later inform them it's a 22 year old standard 1.6 they are usually impressed

      @@madyottoyotto3055 yeah, you could be right, personally I never noticed any difference between them. I think the Micra is more reliable, but then again the Corsa 1.2 is actually a relatively reliable engine and pretty bog basic. Tigra isn't bad, that's basically the Astra convertible isn't it? tax would be expensive on that here in Ireland, though tax is expensive on everything bar a motorcycle 😂

      @madyottoyotto3055 2 роки тому +3

      @@novicetheaf no it's a Corsa underneath and has roof your talking about.the newer one
      Very heavy and I don't even think lotus could do the handling on that without scraping the lot
      Mine is the coupe the MK1 tigra
      I don't understand why you say about tax being so much just because your in Ireland
      Mine is £280
      Its worth the smile though
      At full chat your talking 35mph in first gear and 55mph in second gear
      I have also changed the tyre size to calibrate the speedometer so they are not exaggerated figures
      It just doesn't have much after 90mph I do believe it would be capable of more that the 126mph Vauxhall give it
      But I do have a knack with beating Vauxhalls claimed top speeds on the flat

      @@madyottoyotto3055 Ah, interesting! I thought it was more of an Astra convertible then a Corsa convertible. It looks tidy enough, I'd say it'd be good craic nice and low to the ground as well. 1.6 petrol engines are 514 euro in Ireland, actually not as far off as I'd expect, I remember a friend telling me you could tax a Corsa for 30 pounds in England which sounds crazy! Motorcycle tax is 88 euro for the year and we've no MOT for Motorcycles which is handy once you know your bikes well 😁

    September 2003 we picked up a brand new 2 door Micra S in the same colour as your one for my wife. She drove it for 13 years and finally I persuaded her to sell it and get a new car. She was very reluctant as it had been faultless in the years we owned it and only had 50k miles on. She absolutely hated the Fiat 500L we got to replace it and still says she wishes she had kept the old Micra. Even now she asks me every September to look up if Mindy is still going and if she’s passed her MOT. It’s been a yes every year so far and she’s coming up 19 years old now.

    Air con isn't just to cool the air! You can also use it to demist the windows when the heater is up and stop the windows from fogging up. Your also better off keeping the AC on all the time as it will help keep it working. Leaving it switched off for long periods of time will cause it to discharge and fail. If you don't trust my comment, ask your own mechanic or AC specialist.

    My wife has one and I thought it had cruise control, but is a speed warning, not c control. Hers is auto, and its a brilliant box. It is an electronically stepped cvt box that is ideal as a local runabout. Much better than the previous auto Micra that always seemed to be revving it's head off.

    Love the colour of that Micra. Really works well with the grey alloys, so it will look outstanding value for money when it's finished. We’ve had a 2004 1.2SX since new. It has keyless entry & go, auto wipers, climate control - great spec for a 18 year old car! Regular oil changes ensure the chain doesn’t stretch. Check for a rusty fuel neck and rust under the off-side headlight. It feels nippy because the gearing is so short, but that’s ideal for a run-around 👌.

    I second what someone else has written, the wiper linkage seems slack which is very common on these. Best way to tell is grab an arm and move it up and down. You can't get a new one from the dealer or anywhere, it'd need a repair kit from eBay. The ball/socket joints wear out and tend to pop off eventually.
    Rob from the oneauto channel has done a brilliant video showing the process, it's very straightforward.

    Great wee cars! I bought a nearly identical (but slightly more battered and bruised) Micra cheaply from a collegue and all that I've really had to sort mechanically was a heavily worn wiper mechanism. I ended up chaging the the whole assembly for a good used one because none of the eBay linkage kits fitted properly.
    Oh, and my starter motor makes exactly the same sound! I didn't know about over-run until you mentioned it a few months back (maybe on a Note video?). But the way, that button on the steering wheel is to set a speed limit warning beep, no K12 Micras came with cruise as far as I know and the bluetooth is for phone calls only but does that really well.
    Great content, keep up the good work!

    This model of Micra are lovely little cars. Super reliable and very well built. Wholly agree that the interiors never seem to wear out and the engines are mechanical gems! Unfortunately our 2004 model was written off after a gentle kerbing in snow bent the rear suspension. One weakness is the electric power steering, which can give problems as the car gets older.

    Have driven that type of micra since 2003 before getting replaced with the Leaf. The 2 that I had were great little runabouts very reliable. One thing to mention, The linkages for the windscreen wipers mechanism is not robust, when it becomes loose the wiper tend to thump a little when returning to rest position - this happens before the mechanism fails. There was an inexpensive kit to replace this. It might be worth checking as the wipers sounded familiar...

    Hi James always love your videos 😁 I can undestand you wanting to bond in a repair patch rather than getting out the welder. The only thing that I would be slighty concerned about is that the aerial uses the metal roof of the car as a 'groundplane' and is electrically connected to it via the aerial's earthing nut, this massively improves radio reception. If you bond in the repair panel you may end up with poor radio reception unless you figure out a way of electrically connecting the repair panel to the rest of the roof. Maybe with some sort of metal bridge between the two, if you are able to fashion something?

    • @Jaccayumitty
      @Jaccayumitty 2 роки тому +1

      I suppose he could solder or spot weld one corner of the patch. But I suspect it might not be necessary. Apart from the likelihood of there being multiple earth connection routes, I think the ground plane doesn't need to be electrically connected to the radio anyway. Just being a big lump of conductive material below the antenna is enough. I've known radio hams bury random bits of scrap metal all over their gardens to improve the ground plane of their radio masts. But it's a very technical area and I'm no expert. I'd do the fix the way he intends, but test the radio before putting on the filler and paint. If it works, great. If not, make an electrical connection between the patch and the roof before doing the finishing work.

      I have one about the same age. Bought it at 20,000 miles, now at 75,000 miles. They are great little cars and very nippy around town. But there have been a couple of issues with it. First, and it's just an annoyance, the wipers do get clattery. One of the commenters here says you can get a fix kit, I'll have to look into that. More serious is wheel bearings - all four have needed replacing and my garage says it's not uncommon. Not terribly expensive, about £80 a time, but worth noting. Inside, it looks like new. Outside, much like the one in the video, bit more kerb rash, but no rust round the antenna mount.

    • @superjosh3864
      @superjosh3864 2 роки тому +1

      @@Jaccayumitty Hi Rob, I agree and would 'suck it and see', especially as it's a cheap car. As you say it may not be necessary anyway and James can always just electrically connect one or two corners (would suggest the rear ones to maximise the groundplane affect :) and that'll probaly sort it all out.

    Learnt to drive in that shape micro, great little cars.

      This was the first joint Renault Nissan car was it not? I seem to remember that at the time, people were complaining how bad they were as Renault was too involved. I’m sure there was a common fault of doors falling off and people were blaming Renault for it? It’s interesting that they have stood the rest of time despite those initial concerns.
      That said, Renault was just coming out of its “good” car cycle. They had done the first Laguna, Megane, megane scenic, Clio I in the 1990s all of which were generally well received and successful. Renault then seemingly decided that it’s range was too conventional and too reliable so brought out the Laguna II (good car but very unreliable), megane II (good car but numerous annoying reliability issues which annoyed owners) and the scenic II (same as megane). The Clio II was ok but not on par with the Clio I. As you probably know, it partially destroyed Renault and cut it from one of the biggest sellers in the U.K. to what it is now, a minor player. Annoyingly for them, they countered their poor 2000-2008 period with some fairly reliable cars, the Laguna III and megane III were bland but well specified and generally reliable, the Clio III has only minor and low cost faults (check mot histories of Clio III and you will usually be surprised), and the scenic iii was also reliable. But it was too late. The image was lost probably forever.

But was never Happy with it like I was with my K11 I had before. My mate had a 160SR and a few months ago picked up a Impul Japanese Import Micra in Calsonic colours which will be hitting the road soon!

    I'm on my third Micra, all k12s, the first was a 1200se 53 plate which i had for 7 years, never put a spanner on it the second was another 1.2se which i owned for 5 years again never put a spanner on it ( except for oil changes and pads and shoes). I gave that to my parents who still drive it today. I now have the 1.6SR in red, again a brilliant car that drives eagerly though the fuel consumption is obviously a little more thirsty but not silly, still getting 40-42mpg on average. You are absolutely right that the Micra is the best car in its class and extremely reliable. My three Micra's never started with AC on, so why yours does I have no idea or have i experience an over running starter. To buy one always check the inner wings under the head lights for rust n/s and o/s as these are water collection points and the wiper linkages as these are prone to fail though a £20 ebay purchase and 30 mins to fit sorts that out. Unusual repair your doing around the Arial as I've never seen that before though I'm interested to see the repair and I do think your being over enthusiastic with your resale value considering the age & mileage, not saying you wont get IT just I would never pay it.

Although only a year old the battery suffers from lack of use and cold weather. Just used the pack today for the first time after very frosty night and 4 weeks of inactivity! Mrs had one of these for her first car, 06 model, povo spec. In 2 years all I had to do was service the thing and fit a new battery, great car and the parts are cheap as chips! Perfect for a new driver because the visibility is fantastic.
    She now has a k13 2013 micra 'elle' which although they didn't seem to sell as well as the k12 is also a decent wee motor. 1.2 3 cylinder and chain driven in 'shiraz red' with gun metal alloys. Paid 2.5k in 2020 with 58k on it. Should imagine it has probably gone up in value now!
    Much nicer gearing than the k12 1.2 which is over 4k rpm on the motorway. It's a special edition and has such a high spec for the money she paid.

    My sister had a 53-plate 1.4 SVE. It was far too low geared, engine was doing about 3,600rpm in 5th at 70mph, and the electrics (which I think came from Renault?) were terrible - the remote locking gave up the ghost so she had to leave it unlocked and needed to rig a wire into the cabin to release the boot lock.

      @@proclipperuk It is plausible, most of the smaller Nissan petrol engines of that age use a lot of the same ancillaries. But as it does not affect the emissions or the actual performance of the engine it isn't of major concern. I have just had to have the linkages on the anti-roll bar replaced. Due to current mileage, either the engine internals or major suspension components will be the most likely culprits of a terminal mechanical.
