I own this keyboard, and I absolutely love it. It's a tremendous value. If you're not sure which keyboard to buy (within a budget of $1000 of course), let me make it easy for you. This one. Then spend the other $201 (less sales tax) on something else. Like a good pair of headphones AND the LP7A pedal unit or at least a more realistic sustain pedal (better than the basic pedal they include in the box). It comes with a very sturdy furniture stand (which the LP7A specifically fits), so you don't need to buy another stand unless you want to...like for multiple tiers. Dear Yamaha: Can you please get on making a second-tier accessory stand for the DGX-650 furniture stand? Ideally the angle would be adjustable so you could either put a second keyboard up there or your computer equipment and make a full-fledged piano desk.
Just spent 6 months trying to figure out how to use "STYLES"!!!! At least this video helped me to figure out that it doesn't work on my keyboard... So incredibly pissed off right now!!!! Guitar Center had better not give me a single bit of a hard time about exchanging this tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Een fijne keyboard ook de lessen voor diegene die nog niet zo goed kunnen spelen maar de liedjes die je daarvoor kunt gebruiken zijn veel te moeilijk voor een beginneling. Is daar iets aan te doen>
I cant get the transpose function to work. I use the function and category buttons to get to trasnpsoe, however it doesnt default to zero but shows 421.Hz and using the data button just causes the Hz to go up or down....
Thanks for the question. For specific product recommendations and pricing, we ask that you call one of our sales pros at 800-356-5844. They will be able to help you find the best solution for your specific situation.
Benjamin De Lange That's understandable. I forgot to mention that you can email customerservice@fullcompass.com with your question and a Sales Pro will get back to you. Keep in mind that an email can take a few days for a response. Unfortunately, I'm in Marketing and can't help with recommendations. Thanks!
When using my DGX-650 as a stereo, through the aux input from my iPhone or iPad only the left speaker emits sound, the right speaker is silent. Consequently part of the music is not played, as when switching from right to left speaker on an ordinary stereo system. Is this right?
Tom jr You can plug the analog outputs into any speaker. PA Speaker, Studio monitor, Keyboard amp, even your home stereo with the right adapters. Any Flash drive will work. If you stick with major brands like SanDisk you should be fine.
It's a shame that an instrument on which you can play the styles with full keyboard fingering has styles only with one intro, one ending and two variations, like the lower-end PSR E arrangers. I'm wondering whether Yamaha is afraid of losing sales in their Clavinova range if the DG-650 had professional style features like the PSR-S series of professional arrangers?
I agree..these units fall short of pro level in a way that really irks me .. I have old Korg workstations which offered the best of what Korg could give in the T1 and the m1 at the time . I have to reverb the piano sounds to make them just OK by today standards , In reviewing these DGX SERIES units ..Yamaha holds back on midi in/out ports and on acoustic piano sounds that can really deliver...and Yamaha could add them . I wish they would take a risk and make an affordable low priced pro unit . But it will never happen .
I have this piano and a steel string guitar and the pianos mimic sounds very very good. Obviously it's not anywhere near as authentic as the piano sounds but it's one of the best eat steel string sounds I've heard on digital keyboards and pianos of this price and lower
I couldn't be more happy with this product. This is one INCREDIBLE instrument. Thank You Yamaha. I LOVE IT.
This is the best review of the DGX of all the others I have seen as you explain things none the others has talked about. Thanks

Can I import wav files into yamaha dgx 650...or just only MIDI files?
Yes
Very nice intro to 650. Did you make one for the 660?
I cant get the transpose function to work. I use the function and category buttons to get to trasnpsoe, however it doesnt default to zero but shows 421.Hz and using the data button just causes the Hz to go up or down....
Wich digital piano would you recommend in the category of Yamaha?
Till 1000 euros?
I would love to hear from you!

***** The problem is that calling you guys is pretty expensive from the Netherlands. So can you give me a short review?

Question: is Style Recommander also working with external style files on the USB stick or loaded into the keyboard flash memory? Thanks.
Thanks for the question. It takes a little more programming than that to make the style recommender go so only the built-in styles will work with it.
is he a piano teacher? why he plays so good?

anntaps Are you using a stereo mini plug to connect your device to the piano?
can i import voices from Yamaha PSRS series to DGX650?
Does it have an arpeggiator?
fan va bra jobbat :D
+Thomas N Jag köpte en av dessa för ett par år sedan, de är fan bra.
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMENDATION ON THE FLASH DRIVE TO USE ! AND ALSO IF I WANTED AN EXTERNAL SPEAKER ! WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND !
Tom jr You can plug the analog outputs into any speaker. PA Speaker, Studio monitor, Keyboard amp, even your home stereo with the right adapters. Any Flash drive will work. If you stick with major brands like SanDisk you should be fine.
do you have any specific recommendation o the speaker that you personally prefer ?

Can you import a score and have the piano play it? I'm a choir director who doesn't play piano.
Not a score, but a MDI file yes. You just connect a thumb drive and load it
does this have synth and choir, called sweetheaven
How do you loop your own recordings?
That’s what I would like to know
can u synthesize ur voice if u connect a mic
Can the reverb be adjusted or dropped all together in the sounds
See page 50 of the Owners Manual. 😊
Looks like you can only choose different types of reverb, not adjust the amount of actual reverb. Bummer !
why no MIDI I/O ?
MIDI is handled over USB. A lot of products are going this route.
How to install a microphone?
650 no support for microphone, 660 has line-in
ALSO HOW TO COMPOSE A SONG FROM SCRATCH ON THE DGX 650
The USB port is almost impossible to use. If they are over an inch long they don't even fit!
Why is the display pixelated?
It's a dot matrix display. Kinda hard to get a good video recording of those
Gimme that fudging cash to buy one of these now! No... right NOW!!!
I own this keyboard, and it's worth every penny.
Daniel Dougan thanks dude, I feel much better now ;-)
+SeekerOfTheTruth Save your pennies. Hint for it as a holiday gift (that's how I got mine).
6:17 he said DGX 640
I hate to tell you but the "steel string guitar" sucks. It doesn't even sound like a steel string guitar.
sounds ok to me, but then i have never played one......sounds good on here?

***** Took the words right out of my mouth. I think most digital pianos have weak imitations of guitars (and horns) though. sigh
can i import voices from Yamaha PSRS series to DGX650 via flash disk?
joseph Ndung'u You can check this out on Yamaha's MusicSoft content site: www.yamahamusicsoft.com.
+Full Compass can you answer with a yes or no sir?
