Got the DGX660 and I love the sound and action. I mainly use it as a normal piano and the sound of the grand is still better than any other I have heard on any below $1200. I also has a lot of other fun functions that you may or may not want to use. I just watched the demo to hear what Stu says about it. Fantastic review, by the way, from a fantastic piano player (loved the accordeon demo!).
I am surprised reviewers do not make more of a big deal about the fact that you simply transfer your recording onto a pen/stick which provides a PERFECT recording for you to download onto your PC and simply burn to disc. No expensive microphones or soundproofed recording studios are required. You can play your recording on any CD player and it sounds like a truly professional recording . This instrument is astonishing value for money.
I bought this DGX on kind of a whim, just to have a fun hobbyist instrument. Your video is the most thorough one I've seen, it actually got me excited to crank it on. Hope you follow through with a tips & tricks segment on its accompaniment features.
Great review! This keyboard was the most fun instrument I’ve owned. I tend to play heavy banging away and unfortunately the white and black key pads wore down a little after about four years, they started to make louder thumps and clicks when playing. I guess the rubber or felt pads compress and got worn out. I do recommend this keyboard for the live recorded drum patterns, microphone settings, ease of use, the fast dial wheel, large screen and speakers.
Absolutely! Yes, the GHS action isn't their most durable, I wore out two full actions myself a few years back...but the instrument's combo of musical features is fantastic, you're right!.
Great demo! I love this piano.I’ve had it for a couple of years and am re-learning after a 40 year absence.I use the ‘lesson’ feature and also really enjoy the different voices when I have to practice the same piece or technical exercise a gazillion times. This piano is always fun and really helps a person enjoy their music fully.

Just ordered this piano to start learning to play it, and because already took the plunge and paid for it I WILL learn how to play it! The review video is good but I feel it takes quite some time to actually get to the point, kind of lacks comparison vs a true acoustic piano, is the digital one feeling equal or similar? Hi! Brent here! That is awesome to hear that your son has also taken up the piano! The Roland PHA4 action that is featured on the F701 is fantastic. In my opinion, it will be an upgrade from the DGX660 in terms of authenticity of touch. Hi Juan - The DGX660 is an awesome combo of features for beginner or intermediate players, or for performers who already have an established technique. I was going to buy the Casio Ct-x 700 but I saw a review by Jeremy Lee who was upset that the makers of the Casio ct-x700 who did not make the layering sounds high enough compared to the left side of the tone sections. Can any one recommend a electric keyboard that you can use in a recording studio that has equal sound level on the tones as well as the layering sounds.
its all about how you will use the keyboard in practical. there are many models only for piano performing, will give better touch of piano than dgx660. BUT this is because dgx is a 2 ways keyboard that fit both live performing and music recording/mixing, not just pretend to be a piano. If you only want to play classical piano on keyboard, dont go for dgx660. If you are a music player that need much more features and functions, you have to choose dgx660 instead of other "piano only" model
Mine is shorting out and getting a blue screen of death after about 5 minutes of playing. I think it's just very temperamental. I'm wondering if getting a surge protector would solve the problem.
Hi there! It is possible that a surge protector may resolve the issue, but it sounds like it may be a good idea to have a technician inspect the instrument to help diagnose and troubleshoot the issue.
I have the YPG-235 Yamaha keyboard, which shares some similarities with the 660, but the latter is a better instrument. So maybe it's time for an upgrade.
I had a YPG-235 for a few years. Made a few tunes on it. I liked it. Good, basic 76-key keyboard. Then I got a PSR EW400 which does more stuff and is also a nice 76-key keyboard. But have wanted an 88-key weighted action keyboard for a while. So am checking out the DGX-660 among others. I think you will be glad about upgrading, whatever you choose. By the way, I checked out your jazz stuff with Russell Wilson. Excellent!
As a 40 year old world class pro playing thousands upon thousands of nights in my life it mostly clubs Phoenix Los Angeles Nashville Chicago and the Aleutian Islands I love Yamaha I don't care who you are what you are who to say Yamaha is the s***. 😳😳
It is a very different offering to be honest. The DGX models are "arranger" pianos, which means that they have a plethora of onboard accompaniment features and options. The P series instruments are designed to be used primarily for piano practice/performance. With that said, given how feature rich the DGX660 and DGX670 are, I would personally rate them as being more premium instruments than the P225.
Great video, thank you. Can anyone help me...... I have this piano. After I record onto a USB (in MIDI files): 1) what's the best way to play the recorded music on PC (keeping the same quality sound with no distortion and *without using a DAW* ? (I am asking because I'm struggling using my Presonus Studio One DAW version 5). 2) best app to convert this recorded music into Mp3 to export? (I'm going to export to Insight Timer app.) Thanks in advance.
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in! We appreciate it. There are some very simple and intuitive DAWs out there (FL Studio, Cubase, Ableton, GarageBand, etc.). That would actually be my personal top suggestion. While there is a slight learning curve involved with any new piece of software, it will be an incredibly handy skill to learn. Furthermore, it will give you lots of creative flexibility in terms of layering multiple tracks/sounds, editing audio and improving the overall sonic representation of your music/playing through mixing-related plug-ins. The other advantage of using DAWs is that most of them will have the ability to export as MP3 files. So, all-in-all, with a little bit of a learning curve to deal with, you will be fully equipped to tackle everything you seek to do. There are a number of wonderful tutorials on UA-cam for each of the DAWs that I have listed. Thanks and hope this helps! :)

Can you save your layered sounds and store them in this piano I need help I’m buying a piano in 10 days!! HELP? I’m also eyeing the Yamaha MX88 and Korg Kross 2 88 key.
Thanks for the great reviews and comparisons. Would love to see a comparison between dgx 660 and the new Korg XE-20SP. Especially curious about the action of the XE-20.
Just saw Jeremy Se’s brand new demo on the Korg XE 20 and was honestly disappointed. That’s why I’m here. It may have a lot more options as far as sounds and accompaniements than the Yamaha but I think that the Yamaha sounds far superior.
I also just watched Jeremy See's new demo and review of the Korg XE20, and was also a bit disappointed in the XE20. Four things stood out for me in my comparison of the two keyboards. 1. The DGX-660 has a pitch bend wheel, but the XE20 doesn't (or a joystick either). 2. The DGX-660 can record audio .wav files directly into USB stick in the instrument, but as far as I know, the XE20 is not able to do that. 3. Much higher polyphony with the DGX-660. 4. For me, the DGX-660 is going to be much easier to navigate right out of the box.
@@jenk264 The action is okay. It's only a bit loud when you use headphones if you play at "Hard" touch settings. You should play it in-store before deciding.
The worst thing about this piano is the music stand. It is like 2 feet away from, maybe more. It sucks when you have to turn music. Sucks! And after listening with earbuds, you can actually hear the keys hitting against the base of the keyboard. That is not good at all. Cheaply made, to say the least.
I've moved mine very well, I have a Gator case with wheels on it, I play 4 -6 gigs a month without issue. I use a quick lock stand, and a Roland KC300 stereo mixing amp with it, no problem.
@@jeffmckaig4763 yeah, with a bunch of shit🙄"i can move it on wheels" fuckin genius over here😂 Your average person is not going to be CARRYING it around, especially up a flight of stairs.
@2020 A.D. i have mine on wheels, that makes the stand easy to move. The keyboard is too awkward to be moved alone. It requires assistance, be it a person or mechanical.
I moved it by myself and I'm a lady. It is heavy, but I manage to put it in its carry bag and place it on a dolly upright then, Just roll it in/out. Stand upright and lift on end into back of my nissan rogue. I hate doing it, but have to when no man is around. Lol
Oh no !!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude you should have connected the volume to the camera so we could hear the direct sound from the piano to the camera. Instead we hear the piano speakers going into a microphone/s and then from the microphone probably into a mixer or audio interface. Why do that when we want to hear the actual piano crispness. I'm sure you did that so that we can hear your voice mixed into the video. But, we want to hear the piano sounds, not your voice. LOL !!!
I would have to double check with Stu and our production team, but I believe they are taking the audio output directly from the line out of the piano. The only time you are hearing the sound of the piano from the speakers through either overhead microphones or Stu's microphone is when the onboard speakers are specifically being showcased or when Stu is speaking while playing (naturally, at that moment, there will be a bit of bleed from into his microphone). Thanks for tuning in and all the best! :)

Does it have a built in audio interface??
Can this one play or load the external styles from usb?
Dgx 660 vs p125 main piano, which one better? Thx
In terms of keybed of the piano, P125 feels better
In general, dgx660 has more features and more "fun"
its all about how you will use the keyboard in practical. there are many models only for piano performing, will give better touch of piano than dgx660.
Excellent!
@@TheMg49 I appreciate the feedback.
As a 40 year old world class pro playing thousands upon thousands of nights in my life it mostly clubs Phoenix Los Angeles Nashville Chicago and the Aleutian Islands I love Yamaha I don't care who you are what you are who to say Yamaha is the s***. 😳😳
YAMAHA .......ROCKS .....!!!!!!!!!! .........I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE ...!!!!!!!!!😎😎😳😳🤗🤗
Yamaha makes solid digital and acoustic instruments! There is certainly no doubts about that. :)
Is this a step up from the p225?
It is a very different offering to be honest. The DGX models are "arranger" pianos, which means that they have a plethora of onboard accompaniment features and options. The P series instruments are designed to be used primarily for piano practice/performance. With that said, given how feature rich the DGX660 and DGX670 are, I would personally rate them as being more premium instruments than the P225.
Can I spam notes on this piano like an acoustic
Great video, thank you.
Can anyone help me......
I have this piano. After I record onto a USB (in MIDI files):
1) what's the best way to play the recorded music on PC (keeping the same quality sound with no distortion and *without using a DAW* ? (I am asking because I'm struggling using my Presonus Studio One DAW version 5).
2) best app to convert this recorded music into Mp3 to export? (I'm going to export to Insight Timer app.)
Thanks in advance.
I am not as tech savvy, trying to avoid using any DAWs if at all possible.
@@MerriamPianos hi Brent. You're welcome.
Thank you for taking time to reply. Ah, OK. You're not the first person to give me similar advice. Thank you. Looks like there's no other way around what I need to do. Lol. I can't avoid it. Haha. I need to change my belief that 'I am too old to learn technology!'. You're so right. I just need to face it head on and get through this learning curve!!
Thanks so much again. Much appreciate your help.
Can you save your layered sounds and store them in this piano I need help I’m buying a piano in 10 days!! HELP? I’m also eyeing the Yamaha MX88 and Korg Kross 2 88 key.
Does anyone know how to record on the pianos “piano room” feature
Can you hook up expression pedal to this along with sustain?
yes
@@palmerbehrends8107 thx
Благодарю всех благ!!!!!!!!
You're very welcome! :)
Is it still worth in 2021?
Thomas Trotter - Totally agree.
Wheres ur mic feature
Can you loop with this piano?????
Which one you like best? Yamaha DGX-60 or Casio pxs-3000?
Yamaha sound better
does it have a transpose button?
Yes
Does the Yamaha DGX-660 have organ voices? Specifically pipe organ sound?
Yes
Yepp
Praticamente os mesmos timbres d yamaha dgx 630...
More useful if the camera was overhead.....smh
Dgx660 or Korg xe20?
been using a DGX 650 for 6 years now. Basically the same thing. I can't stand the action
Why not? Going to be getting one. I want to know what to expect
I still love my FP 10 😂
No. 1 person cannot move it alone. who lied to you?
I've moved mine very well, I have a Gator case with wheels on it, I play 4 -6 gigs a month without issue. I use a quick lock stand, and a Roland KC300 stereo mixing amp with it, no problem.
@@jeffmckaig4763 yeah, with a bunch of shit🙄"i can move it on wheels" fuckin genius over here😂
Your average person is not going to be CARRYING it around, especially up a flight of stairs.
@2020 A.D. i have mine on wheels, that makes the stand easy to move.
Lol
Orient yourself?
Worst tonality. Not suitable for advanced level. Keys are wobbling in few months.
Doesn't sound that good to me.
You talk too much 🤔
