Yes you are probably right, but would it not destroy a persons dream of a new life, jumping straight into the freezing couldron..lol. but yes i do understand your point.👍
Would you pack up and move to Canada, Winnipeg for instance, now? The snow is a week away. We speak English here in most provinces so there is a commonality of language. Even as a Canadian I wouldn't dream of moving to Quebec in the winter. The Canadian military has what is called the "active posting season", June through September. No one here buys homes or moves I winter. Like Mike says, come as a tourist and experience the country first.
When I first visited Russia it was February 2007... I came from the Australian summer and landed in Moscow early morning...the speaker said over the top that it was -47'C 😂😂😂 I still found it very enjoyable, bought myself a mink hat (I was so stylish) :P
Winter in the Russian village is really nice. Lots of snow and lots of fun. I used to visit a village in Yaroslavl Oblast. It was an earlier bus trip from the train station. I used to get off the bus, and then walked 3 km through the forest to this, semi-abandoned village. I recall it was early morning, no sound, and it was pitch black in the forest. I, perhaps 15 y.o. at that time, was stepping though the deep snow, with no flashlight, and suddenly something big and black just flew up from almost under my feet. Apparently, it was a big bird still sleeping on the snow, I woke her up as I almost stepped on her. Of cause, it was as scarry as hell.

I arrived yesterday in my new village in Altai! No problems with the winter. Hire an appartment for the next 6 months, I found one for 36 € per month. 😂❤🎉
This is for the people who don’t plan on living in apartments and want to build. Of course I said what you’re doing is the way to go. Mentioned in the video
This is good advice. As an "experienced" traveler ( having been to Russia ten times from 1994 - 2005 and done business there) I was amazed and the changes every time I went to Moscow, Saratov, Anapa, Novorossisk, Gelendzhik. ... My wife is from Saratov and we have been married 30 years. Now past middle age, she needs to go home. We care for her mother at home. Mom is 88 and has dementia so travel is out of the question. I just want to say to my fellow veteran, God bless you both.
Russian winters are no joke. I came for the first time as an extended tourist right before New Years last year. First of all, it is really cold. Sometimes if you smile or talk, your teeth will actually hurt because of the freeze. If you don't know the language, everything is so much more difficult. It isn't the best time to go start to network, as most people stay indoors or go out to do something specific like sledding. One time, I arranged through an app to stay at a hotel in Moscow. When I got to the hotel, and it was bitterly cold outside, they told me there was some sort of error and they couldn't accommodate us (me and my two children). What would you do in that situation? If it wasn't the middle of winter, the temperatures outside are not even a factor. But having somewhere to stay warm is really important in Dec-Jan. I'll tell you what I did. I had to call a friend (the only one I knew in Russia who spoke English and Russian) and had to ask them for help finding something I could get to. ALSO, navigation through the streets of major cities is a bit tricky and you could get lost. AD systems makes the GPS work not correctly. DON'T GO In WINTER without a good plan in place and expect it to be temporary. Come back when it's warmer for the best time!
I live In Kuban and we have hardly s now in our region (South of Russian) I moved here about 20 years ago from Siberia and I really miss snow sometimes.
its just the US crazy politicians & US bureaucrats driving a wedge between US & Russia. I think the US politicans think they can topple Russia & replace it with a puppet to plunder Russia's resources. Plus the US is going Marxists while Russia flees Marxism & adopts conservative Christian policies.
Hi guys ! Another thing to think about if you are going to buy property and it's somewhat close to running water like a stream or river is to come in the spring. You going to want to look how much the water will raise so you don't buy land that will be flooded. It's just a tip. Be safe Dan and Ksenia and keep it up !
@@Wild-Siberia Backyard Russia bought a land at "заливные луга". Fields can be flooded by snow melting in forest.

I want to trudge through snow, experience the vastness of Russia, experience nature and birch trees. The weather seems to be just right. And no, I don't plan to build a house on frozen ground. There was a lot of construction in Russia last year (President Putin presented impressive statistics on new housing created across the country, something my government just can't manage), many Russians moved into larger homes, so I assume there is enough existing housing to rent or buy.
Yes, absolutely, this confirms what I already thought through and there’s a lot I can do in the winter here before I relocate to Russia in spring. With the Internet, I can learn the Russian language which I am currently enrolled in the orthodox linguist classes twice a week and also other online language classes and I’m studying the Russian orthodox faith to join the Church in Russia. Also, there is the paperwork I need to assemble which takes time so I will be ready in spring. This should be helpful information for many, thank you for all you do.

100% true, but nearly impossible to get and immigration quota slot in Crimea. And a big part of Crimea including Yalta and Sevastopol don't accept immigration unless you where Ukrainian and lived there before, because of the military ports, military airports, and the war, etc .....And for the Est of Crimea where you can apply, they have very few quota's slots available and it's a draw between applicants. CONGRATULATION for living in such a wonderful place 😍 I watched you're video, it's really a little paradise.
Shhh, don't give away secrets, or immigrants will come buy up all your land, and the price of a house will increase by 10. Better to tell how miserable it is in Yalta. Now, if I can just find my real estate agent there....
It's colder where I live in Canada, and we're having a warm year this year in Manitoba. All our leaves have been off the trees well before Halloween, plus we get tons of wind here because of all the lakes around us. My trailer is tilting like 8 degrees, and I'm disability. It sucks. If your dressed for winter it can be the best season, I love walking in the winter. Nothing like a good -38 degree day to clear your pipe's out.
Our place in Michigan got 150"-300" , 350-700cm of annual snowfall and temps of -30C are common. -40F and -40C are the same temp, BTW. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is America's only population of ethnic Finns. Yes... we know cold. We know snow. We live in the Ozarks of the USA today. Same lattitude as the Levant but with 60", 150cm annual rainfall. Gardens yield two harvests every year here. We'll get a little snow in Winter and it's usually melted the next day. Just enough, in my opinion. As Orthodox Christians, we'd move to Russia if we were younger, especially if our kids were still young.
Dan you make a very valid point to those who may be rushing to move to Russia. I am in a place where i need to gain my masters in geology. Then i wish to visit where i have an inclination to reside. At the moment where i live, near mountains of Brecon beacons, temperatures range from near freezing to at worst -14^0 celsius (winter) and summers of between 18^0 - 26^0 celsius (summer) so imagine moving into winters double that in freezing...i would say unless you are acclimatised to this extent it would be a nightmare. I can withstand cold but Siberia is on another level cold. Including wind chill... me soon as i gain my qualifications, visit Russia next, then the place i would like to reside. For me Russia is my love and goal. My science would then be towards there. Great important post especially winter coming there. Your work is getting there slowly. Greetings to all on this channel and the many wonderful Russian people.
I live in Eastern Washington, and we get winters like in russia. You just gotta be smart and prepare ahead of time for the inclement weather. Great information Dan for many looking to visit and or move to your country.
Yes for sure we have harsh winters in some American states I was in North Dakota for a season of oil field work and it got to -40 but at least they spoke English and it was my mother land. But u understand you understand what I’m saying 🤣🙏🏻
Thank you for this excellent video, Dan. Your information and sound advice are greatly appreciated! btw: it's a beautiful Dia de los muertos here in Yucatan, Mexico these days! Saludos!
You’re right bro, I felt it in Ulan Ude last year. It’s harder to move around in winter even in Saint Petersburg but the best time is June to August. 😂
I'd say if you want to move to Russia, you SHOULD begin a process in winter, because when you're done with preparations, you'll easily see half a year gone. Contact helpers, look through real estate, pictures, prices, manage your budget, start Duolingo and other stuff right now.
Good point but also if you’re put off by the winter and decide to leave well you missed an opportunity. Easing into it would probably be best but to each his own
I love the view of the mountains in the background of your property in Siberia, Russia Daniel. 😊 Cheers 🍻 from Canada 🇨🇦 to you and your wife and family in Russia 🇷🇺
That's funny, Danny, plenty of people coming from snowy winter places. Also there is plenty of Russian territory that has no snow or harsh weather. Experience everything and if you are OK in harsh weather you will be fine in good weather.
Winter is easy when you have your family, understand the language, are used to the customs, are used to how things are done in the country, when Amazon deliver's stuff to your door. Winter becomes hard when, you don't speak the language, don't have family and friends, swift interbank does not work, you face a notoriously hard bureaucracy, one of the hardest to navigate in the world, are in a country where comfort is culturally less important and people won't understand your discomfort and sufferings. (Russian's are f tough) I moved from Canada, to Norway in winter and it was pure hell. Russia is significantly harder then Norway, at least 4X. Honest people admits openly "Russia's immigration, is immigration hardcore." Anyone who say's otherwise just lies because they want youtube subscription's.
Anapa is one of the finest destinations along the Black Sea. While winter brings strong winds, it rarely experiences snowfall. The area offers an abundance of outdoor activities, including mountain biking, windsurfing, sailing, and paragliding, making it a haven for adventure enthusiasts.
Plus the short cloudy dark days. It can be a challenge to endure winter. To throw that on top of the cultural adjustment could be a recipe for disaster. Excellent point. People, take heed.
Where I'm we get winters w minus 40 degree weathers some times in winter mostly Jan Feb r the coldest months when the temp drops that low. I put my flannels on, turn my fireplace on (yes on, it's electric lol) light some candles for extra warm and just stay inside til spring comes..unless I wanna go ski or hike in the mountains. Russians winters won't deter me from coming! Hoping to make the move in spring time depending if all the paperwork goes smoothly. Enjoy the snowy days guys! Don't forget to make a snowman and snow igloos and what's really fun is ice sculpting as a side hobby. Every year an ice hotel is made in Montreal Canada with a full ice bar, ice beds, it's pretty cool, u could also do something like that for fun during the winter months there. All ze best to u and ur wife😊❤
Yea this is not about the people who can handle winter or not in the end. A lot of the paper work a lot of the houses for sale a lot of the moving parts slow down in winter period
Canadian living in Edmonton Alberta, this weather is like dreamland for us. Cold -40 weather is common up here, we share the same weather as Russia so its not something that will turn us down😂
We see -40 too but it’s not about that it’s for the people who are thinking of moving here. When you are used to the cold it’s ok but you’re not used to the culture language or society and so winter then just makes it a little more miserable even if you’re used to it 😅
for metal, inside section, it is needed to to be protected from moisture.. I suggest to put some dedicated plastic cover, or to weld sealed. Good luck and KR from Romania!
when i was kid in east-"germany" (born 1986) i loved the snow. i wanted snow every year. i live in west now since 1995 and the last 10+ years or so... there is no snow in this little 40k town. maybe we get some wet snow/rain for 1 week laying here....... but thats it. maybe the town is too hot. i dont know. also the sky is always grey. we dont get "real" summers (maybe 2-3 month warm weather). we dont get real winters. mostly not raining. or if its raining than way too much... when i see no snow, the year did not end in my brain. its like a paused life. sadge pepe :( im pretty convinced they manipulate the weather here in europe. i can tell just because of the 5-9 military planes/day flying over little town and spraying the grey mist that looks like a chessboard pattern.
You are probably exaggerating about the fog.. But to disperse clouds, they usually use powdered cement. Sometimes they also use liquid nitrogen, dry ice, granulated carbon dioxide or silver iodide (depending on the type of cloudiness and the height of the cloud layer). It is very expensive. In Russia, they use something similar on May 9, Victory Day, but in this case, in my city (Tver region) it is raining, which should be in Moscow.
People that are asking why there and not in some warmer part of Russia have to understand the life style out there... Its like the wild west.. there are not many cops or rangers out there...And even if there are you like know them by their 1st name.. Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world... the amount of wild life over there is just staggering. You can fish hunt and just live off the grid with very limited government interface.
I want to come next summer for a visit as need to really figure things out as I was reading somewhere else that in order to come I need to make an income of at least min wage a year and this will be verified at the end of each year. I am a senior and will be selling my house to move there. My intentions are to buy a house and then live off the rest of my money from my house sale here. I am from northern Alberta, Canada who decided to move to the Maritimes in Canada so see new Country here. I have no intention of working. I want to rent an apartment in a City that has classes where I can enrole to learn to speak Russian. Or I may come as a student first and learn the language a bit. I have also read that coming on this new visa i will still have to do the test. But other places say no because i am a senior i do not have to. I will be 70 in Dec. I really need to make sure I have every thing done right because once my house is sold I do not want to have to return to Canada. Selling my house here is my biggest asset and my biggest hurdle in getting to Russia. At my age and single senior female, I have no intention of building a house. I want to buy a smaller house 350 to 650 square feet with at least 6 thousand square feet of land. Hopefully more with land already planted with trees and greenhouse already built, I also want to kno how do i bring my stuff over. Not bringing big furniture but have things I have saved and collected over the years and do not want to part with. I want to buy a house in a village Not the City

For someplace like this. You would want to come in late spring. To get everything ready for winter. Winter in some countries is brutal. So you have to be prepared Myself I like the looks of your area
My area is awesome especially once you find a place to live it’s truly optimal, baikal is there and large capital city is near! Town limits quiet clean water
I’m going to Hawaii for Christmas this year with my family. I’m going to the Philippines in February maybe in another year or so I’m coming to Russia but love living by curiously through your channel
Your advice is very accurate and true. I bet it is extremely difficult to arrive in the winter. I certainly don't want to come to Russia at anytime. I will just watch videos to see what it's like. You are very interesting.I live in a rural area too.
Thanks for the support my friend but winter is here for the most part I’ll be doing more updates on the baikal Alaska build have you seen that episode previous to this one
Hey Dan, seriously conciddering to go live in Russia. I am watching lot and lots of videos and i think i have an pretty good idea what life costs ... maybe. What i can not find is information about work and what you will earn for maybe a truckdriver or cranedriver because this is what i do overhere (Netherlands). Do you think that you can make a video on that topic?, like what life costs and what you need to afford life? And please no villa's or rich people stuff but for a laborour like people.
Russia is certainly not an ideal country (such a country DOES NOT EXIST), but it is much better than many countries. And this (strangely enough) it got from the Soviet Union.
@@amare_naturam I understand that Russia should not be seen as perfect (exept maybe Ebrestan look at my name 😁), but what i see i like. I live in Netherlands and am 50 years old and for what i see in Russia i think is how we lived here in the 70's 80's when i was a youngster, now the last 20 years i saw my society crumble and the mentality go down the drain and after the covid measures and almost mandates i am seriously considering to move. My problem is i am autistic (not stupid but i think different i wrote this as a Dutchman but never had english lessons i learned my self) and i need my information plain and raw and pure truth inclusive the downsides for any target i will ever have. Because the autism i also have different preferences than "normal" people i couldent care less about bad roads or have a house that shows wealth, i want a house that says "welcome" to ME whatever others think of that. People want a mercedes, i'd like to drive a lada niva (the 4x4) and yes i know what i talk about i drove a samurai for 4 years and loved it, i really am different i guess. Because of the maybe strange preferences i need different info than others and i can not find that. Like i am a truckdriver but i need to sleep at home (because the autism) so i need work on a sandtruck garbage truck or something like that, don't care about the hours and early mornings, what can i earn and will it sustain a living for a family of 3? I also can drive a reachstacker (pretty good actually) and what will that earn? How are the percentages of tax and will i be able to buy land and build or let build a modest house for my family after i get permanent living permit? That kind of stuff is difficult to find. Most videos are for people who allready have money, i never had the opportunity to save up because of illnes of my wife.

Curious, are you going to use the soil from digging the foundation for raised bed gardening or such? Sure you may need to enrich the soil with some peat, other agrigates. However i hope you do. You mentioned greenhouse so , yes. Best to you and your misses!
We have absolutely rich soil if you see our older videos we harvested a lot because we took all the top soil to one side. The foundation ground will be used to level the new area of land that we reclaimed
Such good advice I live in Northwestern, Maine. I have seen people come here and think this is the most awesome place in the world in the summer and fall and after two or three winners they leave because we have long real Winters
I get it from the opposite perspective. Namely Mexico. Canadians flock to the beaches of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta in January and February for the warm sunny weather. Many eventually decide they want to live there and enjoy this all year round. Then, July August and September heat and. humidity "punches them in the face" and they desperately ask, "is this normal?" Why, yes it is, remember we told you? Also get the Russian summer can make winter worthwhile. The Russian sky alone looks worth it. Just a great video.
Hi Dan, that landscape is a lot different than Sylmar at this time of the year, good for you, making progress in putting your life together. Everything is tough at the beginning but would start smoothening out in time to come. Take care and best wishes to you and your wife. Tyrone from Chatsworth.

Winter doesn't scare me, brother, I live in New England right now, and this season is harsh, too. I still plan to visit in the summertime because I want to fly over the Siberian green landscape. Do you know if there are any tour companies in your area that offer helicopters or small airplane flights?
Hi Dan. Your long-time subscriber, there were 400 people then. I'm just from Sochi. The prices are not adequately huge for everything. Although I am a sound engineer, I have a good income. But city life just sucks up energy. I have been finding myself in the mountains of the Caucasus for many years, I took up mountaineering. I understand you and have always understood you :)
Лучше приехать зимой и это время заниматься документами и искать недвижимость нежели приехать когда тепло и пока сделаете документы различные вы не успеете до зимы построить дом, а если покупать готовое жильё то вообще нет разницы когда приезжать.
Coming in winter without a house to live in or clothes and if you have children it’s border line abusive to make them deal with these conditions. I don’t think you thought about this
I agree with you. It's like when people come to Phoenix Arizona in the middle of summer. People die from the heat out here. But it's the right time to move to Russia because of the BRIC's currency.
im thinking you just want all that russian snow to yourself !, yea i saw you making snowmen last video and playing in the snow !, just a big kid really hey XDXP, but yea i mean i know alot of people who have come to uk in winter time coming from cold climates like russia and they said even though it doesnt go as cold as their countries, theyre still cold , thats just cause we get wet snow and they get dry snow etc, ive been to canada during snow and i werent so cold etc as alot of the locals etc, but the one thing for me during winter is all the darkness, im like a bear in winter months i just want to sleep lol and thats cause of the lack of the sunlight etc.

I'm from upstate NY, the snow globe capital of the US. What do you think as far as comparing the winters from this region to RU winters? are there any nice colder regions that would be good to compare this weather with?
Before you go to your home, get the feather sticks, kindling, etc, ready. While the fire is still going mate. Then you will be ready to light the fire again, when you next return, a lot faster on those really cold days. Just a friendly hint my friend. Mild spring day here in Sydney Australia, today. Only 30c. Thinking of you mate, nearly midnight, might put a shirt on..
now you understand why Canada has thanksgiving in october --- that way we can have outdoor picnic table turkey in good weather -- in the US the winter arrives late so having a late thanksgiving is ok
good time of the year for beef steaks now, the refrigerator bill is free? but that depends on the steer population over the cows. spicy transylvanian pepper garlic beef potato soup? might need a snowmobile to chase after them... wandering in and out the yard... 20'000~40'000 yards of barb wire for the cow field? that's expensive but the deer still jump over it and eat the cabbage, not the red cabbage only the green cabbage for some reason.

Russian winter is no different than my Canadian winter.
I just cleared snow today where I live.
I live In Kuban and we have hardly s now in our region (South of Russian) I moved here about 20 years ago from Siberia and I really miss snow sometimes.
Сейчас зимы стали теплые, я вспоминаю как была маленькой и шла в школу рано утром, ты даже не можешь вздохнуть воздух из-за мороза.
USA and Russia should be Friends. God bless these two Bigs Countries 💗💖💝
as a Russian that loves american culture a say : GOD bless us to achieve brains and become best friends!!!
its just the US crazy politicians & US bureaucrats driving a wedge between US & Russia. I think the US politicans think they can topple Russia & replace it with a puppet to plunder Russia's resources. Plus the US is going Marxists while Russia flees Marxism & adopts conservative Christian policies.
We will be friends when Putin is removed and the government collapses. And a new Pro American government is installed.
Hi guys ! Another thing to think about if you are going to buy property and it's somewhat close to running water like a stream or river is to come in the spring.
You going to want to look how much the water will raise so you don't buy land that will be flooded.
It's just a tip.
Be safe Dan and Ksenia and keep it up !
No chance of flooding here baikal can hold tons of water

It sucks. Yes... we know cold. We know snow. We live in the Ozarks of the USA today. Same lattitude as the Levant but with 60", 150cm annual rainfall. Gardens yield two harvests every year here. We'll get a little snow in Winter and it's usually melted the next day. Just enough, in my opinion.

That's funny, Danny, plenty of people coming from snowy winter places. Also there is plenty of Russian territory that has no snow or harsh weather. Experience everything and if you are OK in harsh weather you will be fine in good weather.
Yes that’s what I said in the video ☝🏻

Actually Siberia has more sun than most places on earth 😅 in fact the region we’re in has more sun than most “sunny” places known to man
Where I'm we get winters w minus 40 degree weathers some times in winter mostly Jan Feb r the coldest months when the temp drops that low. We see -40 too but it’s not about that it’s for the people who are thinking of moving here. When you are used to the cold it’s ok but you’re not used to the culture language or society and so winter then just makes it a little more miserable even if you’re used to it 😅

Hey Dan. good video, plus it sure as hell beats being in Afghanistan or the Persian Gulf.
when i was kid in east-"germany" (born 1986) i loved the snow. i wanted snow every year.
i live in west now since 1995 and the last 10+ years or so... there is no snow in this little 40k town.
maybe we get some wet snow/rain for 1 week laying here....... but thats it. maybe the town is too hot. i dont know.
also the sky is always grey. we dont get "real" summers (maybe 2-3 month warm weather). we dont get real winters. mostly not raining. or if its raining than way too much...
when i see no snow, the year did not end in my brain.
its like a paused life.
sadge pepe :(
im pretty convinced they manipulate the weather here in europe.
i can tell just because of the 5-9 military planes/day flying over little town and spraying the grey mist that looks like a chessboard pattern.

I understand this feeling about "no snow, no the end of the year" perfectly!
Women over 60 and men over 65 are exempt from taking the language test.
Also , check out Serbia ( I am Swedish and houses at countryside over there are really cheap. You got to look out for scammers though )

I’ve made videos about cost of housing for various price points check those videos out and I’ll see what else I can make
Russia is certainly not an ideal country (such a country DOES NOT EXIST), but it is much better than many countries.
Hey Jefe', It's still 33-C here in Texas, USA.............lovin' it. Raspados!!!!! That's the only snow I wanna see. 👍

Great points!

I asked my wife in Russian, she said it's "krupa" (which is also the name for grains...so "sneznaya krupa" = 'snow grains')
..... not just the wood, but also those bricks/rocks can be recycled.
🙏🏻 keep going strong on your project my friend!
Every season has some beautiful things. In Siberia the beginning of November is a perfect time for hunting - not much of snow in taiga, nice temperature, grouses gathering in a huge flocks, the best time to spend in a log houses.....Such beauty does not exist in Moscow or St. Petersburg)))
BTW - Irkutsk is the second city in the world by quantity of sunny days per year....The first place has Dallas, TX, USA
Yes this video was a message to the ones who want to move permanently in winter by the way
В Воронеже тоже выпал первый снег 😊, но он как обычно растает...
What do you think about creating a discord channel? It would be interesting for languages learning )
