Broken bones heal relatively quickly, but a broken mind takes much longer. Takes a brave man to open up and reveal the struggles you’ve been having. But behind every great man, is a greater woman and Christie is with you all the way. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hopefully back on the grid

Sir, from someone who’s been there, with exactly the same injuries (down to the same wires, bolts and plates), you are an absolute soldier.
It took me at least 9 months to be able to speak openly about my crash without falling into tears. It still bothers me and it’s been 12 years.
The road to recovery is long but every step is hugely rewarding. You seem to be surrounded by the right people, with kind hearts and that will help immensely. Take your time, don’t rush into anything. We will be here awaiting for the giggles and laughs that’s been mostly this channel.

Without meaning to sound like a soppy git, I think this video really shows what a good team yourself and Christie are. All the little bits where you say "cut that out" which has actually been left in are the really true bits. The way she helps you put these together or the way you ask her what to say, or the way you look at each other etc. really shows how you support one another. Especially as Christie has been quite open on her social media at times about her struggles mentally so i guess she can sympathise how you feel.
The fact this video is so "real" is really nice. No fancy set ups, just a couple of people talking about what's happened.
Hope you get better soon Lee! And i hope Christie is also dealing ok with the stress of it all!

I think we have become a bit sterilised by seeing a rider crash and break a leg or foot over the years, just by seeing them back in a couple of weeks, and there rightly called heroes of the sport we love. I think that this Vlog may have woken up the realisation that a crash can not only cause the physical injuries, but the mental trauma can be just as, if not sometimes worse. your honesty in this Vlog is truly inspiring. The love you have for the sport, the team, the riders, but above all Christie and Jessie really shines through in the most amazing manner. Of course we want you back, all your supporters want you back, but you have definitely, 100 percent, no way have you let anyone of us down. You never let us down Lee. Listen to the specialists, especially Christie, get yourself fit and healthy and we all look forward to seeing you on a bike or in a paddock soon. Get well soon Lee, we all wish you the best. Oh and yes Christie needs to be front of the camera, You two are natural together. Best wishes M.

Man that crash was obviously a tough watch...and it was "spectacular" enough! Know that there are fans all over the world (this one in New Zealand) that are still cheering you on. It's a privilege to be able to somehow accompany you on the journey thru these vlogs...and as always, do what is right for you and your family...if that means taking a break in vlogging or going hard out vlogging we will all understand. Rest up and get well!

Fucking hell Lee😢 I'm in bits for ya, I had a similar crash myself just road riding, which ended my racing journey and I fully understand what you've gone through. Massive hugs to you, Christie and Jessie. Heal up fella, don't rush back to a bike take your time. Keep ya chin up, you will get better pal, it just takes time.
    Massive love to you ❤❤

Lee you are a champ through and through. This would have been a very tough video vlog to make but as part of the healing process you've done the right thing.
You've obviously got the best people around you offering all the support you need and then some.
Keep on healing and do all the physio/training to get back to where you need to be plus keep talking about it to all the people, heal those wee gremlins.
More vlogs will be great as we've all missed you & the racing.

Hey Lee - that must have been so hard for you to put together. Its been a tough time for you, Kristy and the rest of the team. My partner went through something very similar just before the new year. His injuries were not nearly as extensive as yours although he was incredibly lucky not to die as his leg was all but ripped off in his crash - unfortunately they couldn't save his leg, but he's fought hard and hoping to be back on his bikes before the end of this year. I hope Kristy is looking after herself as well as looking after you, you both need to take as much time as you need to heal both mentally and physically. But it was good to see you up and about. We should have been at the TT this year (for the first time) and were hoping to see you there, but then couldn't travel (from Australia) due to my partner, Les's, injuries and have had to delay our plans until next year. We'll look out for you when we're there! :) x

Massive respect to you Lee for opening up and sharing this. Best of luck with your recovery, I’m sure you will come back stronger than ever. It’s nice to be able to relate to this in some way, having had a bad motorcycle accident many years ago resulting in a broken femur and various other broken bones. The bit about the wires being pulled out by pliers made me laugh as I had exactly the same and it was grim! (In one of my fingers).

I feel your pain bud, just gone through something similar (although nowhere near the extent of injury’s you’ve suffered) but none the less plates, screws, wire!!!!! It’s sh1t isn’t it, in my head it stunk too, did that happen with you?
Anyway, it’s mega to see you are ok. Missed yi lad!!!!!
Ohh and btw, Christy needs to be on the vlog more! Beats looking at your ugly mug all the time 😂😂😂

Fair play Lee for showing the mega highs and tremendous lows of bike racing. The sign on the gate does say ‘Motorsport is Dangerous’ but at times we feel invincible, it is only when things go wrong you realise how selfish and hard it is on everybody around us. Hope you heal quickly and are back to chasing the dream asap 👍

Well done to Chrissy, Neil and everyone else looking after you.

It’s strange, I don’t actually know you and you certainly don’t know me, but your vlogs always seem personal. You make it feel like we’re there with you, part of the team and your best mate. You bring us on your journey through the high’s and lows, I have to wipe away the tears watching this as it’s so honest and real. I feel a bit of a fool writing this, I’m just an old, ex racer, living in the IOM, but my heart goes out to you , your family , team and “real” friends.
Get well soon fella, and best wishes to everyone.

As a long term race Marshal I have been on the scene at numerous bike, car and truck accidents. Some fatal. We have often been offered counselling to deal with the trauma. But to see it through the eyes of the racer puts it into a different category. For you it is both mentally and physically challenging. You have great support around you. Use it and get better.

I don't watch many vlogs. I barely know you Lee but wow what a video. You are incredible, congratulations on making an outstanding vlog that shows just how hard it is to come back. So often we see the crash and sometime later we see the rider back on the grid. This truly opened my eyes to the struggles and your struggle after such an accident. You clearly have great support and I wish you all the best for the future. Take care and treasure those around you.
