Thank you for making an absolutely fantastic video of Livgardens Musikkorps. Both today as well as yesterday. The quality-from you making the video and the band’s sound-is outstanding. It’s fantastic to have two new long videos of the band available for everyone here on UA-cam. I’m looking forward to many more visits in the future - hopefully with some better weather ahah 😆😃
Thank you, your words are very much appreciated!! As you know, they are equally as enjoyable to make. Perhaps one day, there might be a sunny guard change in Copenhagen for MBE to film? 😂
Good evening and Happy New Year! An excellent Band indeed, we've watched them these days, a good selection of music, a long list of beautiful marches and a very long walk through the City of Copenhagen! Although it's a rainy and windy day, what matters is the result, an amazing parade! No Changing Guard in London today, well the Danish one; a pleasant way to start this new year. Thank you very much, MBE, for your excellent job "out-of-town" as always, for filming despite the climatic conditions not so optimal, and for sharing. I enjoyed it! Grazie, Buon Anno🎉
Happy New Year Alba!! I am pleased you have enjoyed another video of this band and in their gala red uniforms. Despite the challenging weather conditions, still a wonderful parade! Buon Anno
Happy New Year Everyone!! I must what a lovely way to start the Year off! With the spiffing Livgardes Musikkorps & Tambourkorps in their gala uniforms! Absolutely spiffing! Excellent march selection as always, my two favourites were, Kong Frederik IX's Honnørmarch and Kong Frederick VIII's Honnømarch. Thanks MBE as always for the wonderful content, and informative descriptions! Also many Thanks to @Centreret-fyr for helping out with the marches and much more behind the scenes! 🇩🇰 I forgot to add that I've always liked the fact that Stabstambour Søren Rønløv seems to acknowledge what I would assume are past or present members of the Danish armed forces, as every time someone in the public stands at attention he stops his mace drill and does a salute. Very nice gesture! 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Happy New Year Delvin!! A truly fantastic way indeed, a famous event in the military music calendar yet with barely any fully coverage on UA-cam! Rasmus has been a great help for this trip! From what I have been told, if veterans of the regiment stand to attention as the parade passes the stabstambour and officer of the guard will return the acknowledgment, which is a very nice touch! I am sure I will be corrected or someone will add more to this if I’m wrong?
@MilitaryBandsEverywhere Happy New Year to you too!! Very true, it's wonderful to have it covered by such a wonderful channel! So props to you Sir! Rasmus is great! Oh that's very interesting, Thanks for letting me know about the veterans! Would be nice to see that in the UK, as I've seen many veterans salute during the Guard Mounts.
Brilliant video, thank you. I have seen Den Kongelige Livgardes Musikkorps a few times the last occasion being January 1st 2017 so saw the same parade. They are an excellent band probably my favourite in fact, such good musicians. I hope you managed to get some sleep as the Danes certainly love their fireworks!
Thank you! They are truly a fine military band. You are right about the fireworks, I have never seen (or heard) anything like it!! They are even still continuing tonight (on the 1st) as I write this.
Thank you for turning out on such a wet and windy day to record the event. Interesting that they manage without the steady Bass drum beat to which we in the UK are accustomed. Despite the weather, I would have been there, marching (walking) in step.
Thank you, it was a very wet and blustery day! It’s good to see so many troops keeping in step with just the music and without a constant booming bass drum like we use in the UK!
As a high school band director for 30 years, I spent much of my time teaching Bass drummers NOT to play like the British bands do. I wonder what the rationale is for the constant booming BD.
@@JayRogers-to6jmhaha that’s brilliant! If the Garrison Sergent Major directs for strong bass drum to keep his troops in step…then that is what happens! I can assure you the bands would much rather play more musically with their percussion!
Great video!! Enjoyed watching it on the TV haha. It was lovely meeting both of you today! Happy new years and enjoy the rest of your time in Copenhagen😄
Dælige Danmark.. Magnificent impressive performance and Happy New Year to everyone.. Greetings from Skandinavia 💞🇮🇸✌️😊💞 ( smile.. det var en lang marsch håper det sto varm kaffe klar ved hemkomsten..flott video 👍 takk)
I don't know if you noticed the difference, but when the gala uniform is worn, the corps of drums also use special painted gala drums with a large metal regimental badge ("the sun" as we call it) and a red band with the name of one of our battle honours (a different one on each drum).
I did notice the difference in the drums however I did not realise the red bands had different battle honours on them. This is a really nice detail. Thank you for sharing. It’s sad news about the livgarde museum about it closing so I learnt this week. I hope you find a new location soon.
Thank you for - again - a couple of great videos of my old regiment! A small comment: It should be "Fanemarch" at 26:43 and not "Fanner Marchen". Literally translated it means "Colour March".
Short introduction for foreigners: Den Kongelige Livgarde (Danish Royal Guard) might be comparable to USMC in being some of Denmark's best trained and disciplined soldiers also having some very important ceremonial duties.
Hvad tid og dag marchere de fra Rosenborg slot? Kunne være man skulle hive kæresten med på en gå tur Sidst jeg så gardere var da jeg var på jagt efter dem i Oksbøl da de var på deres rex tur
They are marching from the Life Guard barracks at Gothersgade near Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Castle where the Royal family lives while in Copenhagen. I’m not sure what else they should do? They’re only marching 1.5 km.
The march trough the inner city has been the tradition since 1907 and is very much loved by the citizens of Copenhagen (except maybe drivers that are "caught" behind the parade) and tourists. The tradition was started by the crown prince Christian (the later King Christian X), who was the commanding officer of the guards from 1906 - 1908.
The trip for us is around 5 km. In total. We change the book everyday, and there is 20 pages. With 2 pages with a polka and songs. The rest is marches and 2concert pieces. So we are in fact playing a lot at work.
@@ClemmeBassTrombone I admire the work you do, and how well you play. 5 km, or slightly more than 3 miles, still seems a lot of ground to cover for that ceremony, but I respect your traditions, and wish you and all the other participants well.
this has nothing to do with king charles . the most outdated monarchy lol. still living in the 1800's. denmark is far more modern and up to date. their approval rate in denmark is over 80%.

The Band of the Royal Life Guards is just as well as the Band of the Royal Marines in Southhampton and tha't's a big compliment!

The band played very well, but what's with the endless march for the changing of the guard? It looks as if they had to cross the entire city.
