The annual event known as Lanimers Day is a Gala Day in Lanark which ends with a mini Tattoo. This is the Massed Pipes & Drums playing The Green Hills of Tyrol
For those that don't know the entrance march was Scotland The Brave, which was interluded in the middle with The Rowan Tree. The bands then stood still playing Highland Laddie. Then left the street playing the retreat marches The Green Hills Of Tyrol then The Battle's O'er.
Thank u so much for enlighten me on the correct titles played 👍🏻🤛🏻. I was allready thinking, maybe Scotland the brave and hills of Tyroll are same, even though geographical cant be 😊
I’m English, but this stirs the emotions. It’s absolutely fantastic that men, women, boys and girls take part and what a wonderful tradition they are keeping up. Let’s hope future generations keep this wonderful tradition going.
I served with 2nd Batt Scots Guards in the 1980s lost count of how many times i heard that tune brings back a lot of good memories. Oh yeah I’m English
I was ACC my first full posting was the jocks, good lads, even though I was posted elsewhere later on everytime I met of them again they remembered me. GOOD TIMES
Brings back a happy memory of my dad taking me out of school to go to Lanark Lanimers day. I was 11 years old. I remember us standing a few yards from the Wallace Cave pub and the pipe band, which dad knew would be my favourite part by far, going past on the narrower street after them coming down the high street. I loved how much louder the pipes sounded.
My Grandmother, used to enter fancy dress parade every year, she made her own costumes. Even 1 year she entered with broken leg and took part with a pony and carriage. Her name is Aitchison, does anyone remember her.
These gentleman are the only reason there ever was a British Empire, imagine seeing a bunch Scots wearing skirts playing an octopus marching towards you !!!!
Can someone in the know educate me....the pipes and drums are mega Scottish on the outside but traditionally are against Scotland becoming an independent nation...right or wrong.

No, but massive respect to your fabulous Grandmother ❤️

It’s kind of amazing that some of those who march in these bands don’t know which foot to put down on the drum.

Scots deepdown in their heart want to be independent but there are all sorts of ties( economic etc. )
Not for much longer, Alba Gu Brath!🏴
Ryan palazzo died in Wanganui on Sunday 21 February 2021
No disrespect, honest.
But, since they're all playing the same thing(unison) why not
just one pipe and one drum with a really good sound system?🎙🎙🔊🔊
I'm afraid to say, that if you have to ask that question then you'll never understand the scots

Why is it that Scottish pipe band marching through a town is not classed as far right intimidation like it would be in England
