I saw her in concert in Sydney at the now gone Regent Theatre just after she relased the Photograph Album. It was an amazing concert. The audience would not let her leave the stage. Even after they put the house lights on after her encore, she had to comeback on stage and sing Leftover Wine.
12/12/2020 seventy eight with 7 great grandchildren and this is still my favorite. Having you with breakfast this morning. Rockin' blue-eyed soul. folk with your heart.
Melanie: Thank You for being there for us, "soothing the eyes of memory", helping us to attain vision, as we honor the memory of Yesterday while living to the fullest we can Today. Our lives are way richer for knowing your Song and Spirituality.
Aren't we all looking for inner peace? Still. Always. This performance just makes me smile and want to sing along. I love the bells in this...very delicate and beautiful. I remember the Michael Douglas show growing up and I may have even watched this not realizing how good it really was (is). Thank you, Melanie
Memorable song, wonderful memories of good times; the spirit of change that prevailed and the hope of a better life .... thank you for rescuing this recording and sharing it... 👏👏❤❤❤🙌🙌
I always thought that "Photograph" was Melanie's greatest album. Every style of music is sung throughout...pop, folk, gospel, blues, rock,...It's a shame it went virtually unnoticed.
Yes in so many ways many agree with you this is the best Melanie record ever recorded at that time - mostly for production reasons however as always Melanie's songwriting is so exceptional. Melanie does not get enough credit for the incredible songwriter she is. This was Melanie's most expensive recording production to date (1977) released on Atlantic Records and is certainly one of the beautiful jewels in Melanie's musical crown.
ianman15 not unnoticed by me. There was also another batch they couldn't include but later out on CD. This was actually on the double live album, the 2nd best ever
@@georgebilleci5383 It's a shame that "Brand New Key" was her biggest hit and probably her biggest headache. That novelty song overshadowed her brilliance as a songwriter. She was so much deeper that that.
Love the wildly poetic chorus in this song - "Oh god, I've got to swallow you whole again." There's a unique line that you won't find in any other song ever written....I'm thinking that's a reference to taking the host in the Roman Catholic communion, or some such thing...I believe Jesus die say something like unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you can have no part of me after which everyone took off out of there thinking he was insane, which he did on purpose to expose the sycophants but I digress. I have only just gotten reacquainted with her music and am blown away by the poetic element in her lyrics
I am not one to go crazy and like every single live performance by a musician but then again I "discovered" Melanie. I definitively knew numerous songs just because I was obsessed with Woodstock as a kid, but I never bothered to look up her live performances and listen to ALL of her songs and I'm 27. What the fuck????
Boy, was she good! May she rest in peace.

The spirit is strong in this one.❤❤
Another great song from what is probably her finest album...Photograph (1976). Played that entire album to death. Still love it.
OK........she's just GREAT!!!

This is yet another soulful gem from Melanie Safka ...........WOW!! First time I have had the pleasure of hearing this song!!!
Me too! Just now.
God bless Melanie, she has such a sweet, but powerful, so mellow, definitely fit in with the vibe of the '70s.
Thank you

Love the song, I'm So Blue.
Well produced album.

🏝 The Movie star !
This is one of Melanie's great songs. And a fabulous video - her pause at 4:00 waiting to pick back up. And the dancing at the end with Mike Douglas.
Melanie is so beautiful in this video, love that Lady.
She doesn't look like this today. More like an old hag.
Sehr gut

Haven't heard this version, great!
Just wonderful
She had the best percussionist in the Biz there......
How absolutely wonderful. Beautiful spirt.
