This resonates with me so hard. Thank you for telling your story and being transparent about how it can take a really long time be able to purchase a home. This narrative disrupts the tsunami of narratives out there, making it seem easy to purchase a home when one does not come from wealth. TBH, it's made me feel behind because I am 38 and not close to being able to purchase. Hearing a transparent narrative from a Black woman born in the South is encouraging and tells me to keep going. Fione and transparent, where does it end, @Laverne Cox?

You seem like a very down to earth sincere humble person and your apartment is gorgeous and elegant. lived in nyc studio apartment for years and it's a tricky slide to make it work. Anyway love ~ your persona, brand, gorgeousness and class.
I also think Its extremely important to see trans people who are successful and living well. We as a culture see far too much of the opposite.

I think in a country that turns the other cheek to the idea of class, you telling us that you were working class most of your life is a huge revelation and one that I think will help others (like me) be more honest with themselves and with others about where they come from. I also love that you live within your means. Also a studio apartment in nyc can be just as fabulous as any penthouse and yours is GORGEOUS. ❤❤❤

I hear you. I currently have the best paying job I've ever had in my life, but I also know that I don't have much savings (my profession also takes a long time to get truly successful in) and that I won't be able to afford living on just my pension when I retire. So I also live in a tiny studio to keep my rent low, and keep a tight lid on my living expenses. It's definitely the way to go. Plus studios are cozy! Perfect size for one person, and fun to decorate! Yours is lovely :) Thank you for showing it to us!
