FANTASSSSTIC PERFORMANCE🔥........AN OUTSTANDING AND DYNAMIC BAND🔥......AND THE SIZZZLIIING AND SAXSATIONAL SAX-PLAYING EXPERTISE OF NELSON RANGELL❣️🔥❣️🔥❣️ I'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF HEARING HIM PLAY "LIVE" ...AND HE CAN REALLY BLOWWWW THAT HORN, ROCK THE FLUTE AND WHISTLE‼️ WHAT A TALENT❣️
Mr. Rangell and his band has always been a crowd drawing group, who captures the finest moments in entertainment for our ears. Have been a fan since York St. Cafe and Bar in the 90's, when he signed and gifted his CD for us. Haven't ever heard any Jazz artist better. Favorite song- Sonora- Listen to it and it will take you to another place, immediately. Kudos to you and the band; much appreciate your talents!
Uno de los mejores exponentes des Smooth Jazz. Verdaderamente talentoso. Que Viva el Jazz, el mejor género musical de la historia. Un abrazo para todos los amantes de lo bello desde El Salvador.
Nelson is a Great Musician and plays the sax awesomely,,,,,,,,I Have to listen to this one at least six times a month. If you can't hear how awesome it is restart it and try again and turn it up............Thank you Nelson
Wow! Home Boy! I have been listening you you since the Career Center, High School Days under Teacher Neal Bridge. We are proud of you, and we encourage you to play that gift GOD has given you. Yours Truly form Denver! G.G.
Great perspectives all, but let's please show some love for the band that backed Nelson! I LOVE NELSON! That said, this band killed it! Well done gentlemen,,,
I love Nelson and boy oh boy do I love this!!♥️♥️🎶🎶♥️♥️ My goodness does he know how to do it or what? Awesome group with him just make it really really ahhh!!💞💞💞
this is best live show i ever heard in life nelson is a dam good man very humble he lets every body get a chance to shine i like him when coming to charlotte nc 2011
I love this tune. i'll echo everyone's comments in saying he's a beast! Only downside to this video is the dude that felt the need to sing along with him... Messed it all up for me.
yamaha construyó este saxo bajo especificaciones de Nelson, es un Yamaha Custom EX 875 Unlaquer, con las llaves doradas, No es un P.mauriat...(en la antigua pagina web de él aparecía una breve descripción de éste saxo )
People like draw references and compare artist with other artist but the truth of the matter the difference is primarily that of their individual soul and experiences and often those who are trained to hear will hear it in the nuances and variations of the notes as they render their expressions.
OMG! I mean OMG!!! I absolutely love Nelson’s version/interpretation of this classic. He definitely did it justice. Prior to this, I listened to him play the shit out of “A House Is Not A Home” which led me to checkout this video out. Oh, the band was kicking it and tight “ Lika Muh F...kr” That was a nice set!
@@theanonymousone9668 he could. His records like Taking Off and Straight to the Heart could easily be debatable. Not to discredit Nelson or Dave because I'm a Saxophonist myself. But Sanborn has been the benchmark for commercial, funk r&b playing for over thirty-five plus years.
😁"Nelson Rangel "!!, It's one of the most Baddest Cats on the planet"!!!, I honestly think he's a Black Man""!!, All there's no question about" it, this man has a lot of SOUL" in him" Boney James is pretty good, but this is Boney James's SOULFUl BIG BROTHER"!!!!, 😁Yeahh, a lot of US" Black people We Love this Cat" Nelson", he's very dimensional with his jazz"!!!, He's the Boss with the Sauce", he brings Flav to the Table"!!! 😁👌.
My friend I'm not questioning Nelson's skill, I'm just saying that the majority of what I'm hearing currently from Sax players that are out now in the Smooth Jazz/ Pop instrumental are all starting to sound like one another. See this genre that they call Smooth Jazz ( IMO ) started in the early to mid 70's by Ramsey Lewis who had saxophonist by the name of Andrew Woolfolk ( who is the saxophonist of EWF and the original Phoneix horn section ) then we have Ronnie Laws, Dennis Springer, Sadao Wantanabe, Ernie Watts, Grover Washington ( RIP ) Donald Myrick ( RIP ) and obviously the fabulous Michael Brecker ( RIP ) all these cats had their own style that you could recognize because none of them sounded like each other, now I'm not saying the guys/ girls who are out there now are not good because they are great players, I'm just saying that I'm hearing that much of a difference in their style of play.
I don't believe that is his p mauriat. He also has a yamaha 82z custom (i think that is the model) I believe. I think its a limited edition horn. Anyway, he does p. mauriat also. Finally, he has ridiculous chops on all his instruments, super tone, technically unparallel, clean, and distinct player. And yes I would echo humble.
I don't know. I'm starting to think a lot of these guys ( sax players) are all starting to sound alike, but taken nothing away from them they still sound good, however it seems like I've heard these runs played waaay before these guys ( Ronnie Laws, Donald Myrick.rip Andrew Woolfolk and Dennis Springer ). and that's to include Kenny G and Boney James.
Friend respect your opinion, but I tell you what Nelson has a unique way of playing sax and is very hard to find saxophonists with the same ease and skill that Nelson has, I'm not looking down on others and I'm just stating what I see.
You need to listen more, cause Nelson has a distinctive sound, but I do agree there are lots of sax players out there and some are just ok. I can only listen to a few sax players, Nelson being one, Grover (rip) being another, Wilton Felder(rip) being another, Wayne Shorter being another. And I liked George Howard (rip) as well.
That's because it takes hella years to master not only the sound and the technique by the time your done with that it's pretty much a dead a dog learning new tricks
Earth Wind n Fire wae the greatest musical show on earth ,in its day. These guys would make Earth proud. BRAVO.
After 8 years , Im here.
This best performance by Nelson Rangell
Nelson is one bad man on that alto saxophone and the musicians with him are on point!!!

Its amazing how he can make that horn mimic all the nuances of an actual singing voice
Rangell killed it with his own interpretation and flare. Swagged it out. He paid props to the baddest band ever assembled EWF.
I am a jazz lover of jazz
However this is my first introduction to this Artist.
So glad I surfed up on this

Hole up, player. Don't get carried away. Nelson is a beast, but Dave still rules.
Bruh if you think David could do something like this even in his prime you are sadly mistaken.

Who is this insane drummer? wow
Ohmigracious ... ssweet!
Nice!
That's one sexy white boyl. Love Nelson Rangell's music. Always did.
Awesome. Man he sounds good, but I miss the little inflections you hear on his MKVI that are lost on the other horns.
I don't think I'd be too presumptuous in assuming that the late, great Maurice White would approve ;)
Tremendous
still sounds hardest...
David Sanborn's son?
Earth, Wind and Fire composition
Love is...

I understood everything you said friend .But did not say that you are criticizing Nelson
I hope not cause Nelson was voted not once, but twice Downbeat Sax Man of the Year. He is also incredible on the Flute.
Wow....Earth Wind And Fire meet Herb Alpert.
saxophone brand is this using?
jorge luis gomez se não me engano é o sax P.mauriat
Nice xoxo
You better PLAY that sax!
I don't believe that is his p mauriat. He also has a yamaha 82z custom (i think that is the model) I believe. I think its a limited edition horn. Anyway, he does p. mauriat also. WHAT "S NAME THE KEYBOARDS ?
Mike Logan
The bassists name?
Lamar jones🤘

i kinda agree ever since David Sanborn every wants to have a gridy, rough, poppy sound.
You need to listen more, cause Nelson has a distinctive sound, but I do agree there are lots of sax players out there and some are just ok.
