    Test drove this vehicle yesterday with my wife, along with the new TRD off-road and the Frontier. I'm a huge Toyota fanboy, and currently drive a 2017 Ridgeline. Wife and I both picked the XLT as my next vehicle. Can't wait for the 2.7! I'm 6'1", and I get sit behind myself with knee room to spare.

    Just got a Ranger 2.3L XLT FX4 last weekend. DAMN is it good for what it is! I haul my Beta 430 and do gun dog/bird hunting stuff during fall and winter seasons (gonna be overbuilt for that). The 2.7 offering will be great for folks who need/just want the extra power, but I love it how it is with the 2.3.

    I’ve owned my 2024 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 for about a month now. Had the opportunity to take it out into the Florida woods on Independence Day. It handled the frequent ‘sippy holes’ like a Champ thanks to the rear locker in 4X Low. Love it!

    The Tacoma is 317 lb ft of torque which is 17 more than the Ranger. It also reaches peak torque at 1700 rpm. That bed needs a spray in bed liner. Not opting for the 2.7 eco boost doesn’t make sense! This is the biggest advantage the Ranger has over the competition. It’s a very good engine! Where’s the trailer brake controller. All tow packages should include this!

    I want a mid-size truck that can tow a small camper (2900 lbs.). They all can. However, I want the payload to support a topper, tongue weight, camping gear, passengers, and a pet. Very disappointed in the “real” world payload of the Tacoma and the Frontier. My benchmark for payload is 1,500 lbs. The Ranger, GM twins, Jeep Gladiator Sport S (with max tow package), and Ridgeline can all be found with 1,500 lbs plus of payload. I like the Ranger. Ford quality control is a real issue, but this engine has been out for awhile. Don’t understand some of Ford’s omissions with the new Ranger (no rear AC ducts, no 60/40 split rear seat, etc.). Not deal breakers. Ultimately, price will probably be the driving factor for me.

  • @GP80888
    @GP80888 2 місяці тому +1

    So here’s everything you are questioning that they left out.
    There are rear seat AC vents. They are under the back seats.
    There are three tow packages. Basic, just receiver and 4 and 7 pin connectors for $400. Advanced, for $800 includes brake control and backup assist. Advanced with technology which you can program different trailers and trailer blind spot and 360 for $2300.

      The Maverick is a great small vehicle. However it being unibody makes articulation very limited imo. It's like a crossover with a truck bed. I like the Maverick, but if someone is looking for real off-road performance they should be targeting body on frame vehicles (proper truck or SUV). Truth is though most people who have helped push up prices on trucks don't need more than a Maverick, but get mall crawlers to look "cool"

    • @spyder000069
      @spyder000069 2 місяці тому

      I tow with my vehicles. typically ATVs and a side-by-side. when I have to park in fields at the trails there is a lot more noise and movement when hooked to my unibody SUV versus my truck. it's times like that where having a full frame shines. I really like the Maverick and had considered getting one since its size is awesome for day-to-day stuff. but its just not enough truck for me. my f250 is just the opposite and sucks for the day to day driving and parking which is I've been keeping an eye on the midsize market.

    Those giant screens and digital gauge clusters need to go. theres been better aftermarket solutions for the multimedia for over a decade. No display off button without going to settings>display> off, add in the lack of buttons for the heated seats and controls.. now you have the same issue as you do when we switched from phones with buttons to phones with screens, youre hunting for controls vs using muscle memory. also the extra illumination from the digital gauge clusters as night in outside of cities is awful. Can definitely tell the engineers and design teams working on all these new trucks have never lived outside the burbs.

    I recently ordered a Ranger XLT and definitely feel it has the most comfortable seats in its class. The Ranger has much better payload and towing capacity than the imports offer along with that fantastic Advanced Tow Package.
    I have never liked the looks of ANY Toyota truck and find them downright ugly. The dash in the Tacoma just looks odd and cheap to me. Plus the infotainment screen looks like it was just stuck on there as an afterthought. I prefer how the Ranger's screen is integrated into the dash. It looks way more refined that way.
    The Nissan is about as plain jane and mundane looking as it gets and is in desperate need of an update to compete with the others in its class. Only the Ridgeline is more plain looking and it is not a real truck.
    I also like the Colorado, especially looking out over that nicely formed hood. It just has a really cool look to it. The dash is nicely laid out as well, but I wish it offered more than an all black interior. The front passenger seat does not offer height adjustment at any trim level and it is 4 way manual only. The Ranger offers both manual and power front passenger seat with 8 way adjustment including height adjust.
    The Ranger does have rear vents, but they are under the front seats. Though I would like to see them where that pocket is in the center console. As for push button start, there are some pros and cons to that. So I don't really have a preference. The only other option I really wish the Ranger had is a sunroof. The Colorado LT offers one, but you have to order it with 4WD to get it or a higher trim level, and I don't need that.

    A lot of these folks in here remind me of liberals. They just keep repeating what they hear no matter how bad the information is or how incorrect it is. Everybody keeps talking about how reliable the Nissan and Toyota are. Meanwhile Nissan builds the most unreliable cars on the market and this is nothing new for them, fact. And secondly Toyota's having trouble with engines and transmissions in both their trucks and also has not been anywhere near the top of the list for many many years now. Know who had the most reliable truck yet again last year, Ram and General motors. You're welcome. You can look it up, it's easy to find.
