- Day 2 of a weekend trip to Corpus Christi. Hit Wilson's Cut close to Port A. Tides were really low - had to walk a good part of the way into the flats. Had and outstanding day - caught over 50 fish - including a 25 in Red and a 25 in Trout. Had some equipment challenges (don't buy Rio fly line...) but worked through them. The weather and conditions were perfect - and the fish were biting. Can't wait to go again...
Fly-Man you were definitely onto the fish! Despite the line problems you persevered and made it happen.
Another action packed video, keep up the great fishing and thanks for the tips.
Great job, again. Congrats on the monster trout!
It's always fun to get a big one like that. Would have really liked to have seen the one that straightened my hook...
I passed by you around 1ish in a blue kayak, i was hoping you didn't feel I passed to close to you. I was in a blue kayak leaving the area. I heard your go-pro either turn on or off and hoped I wasn't making it to a video that was describing a fellow kayaker passing too close. Looks like to tore them up so sounds like a good day.
Sorry - I don't remember seeing you. Stop by and say hi next time. 🙂
@@greggibby3062 will do. Wanted to make sure I didn't upset a fellow kayaker
Do you have any advice or video on how to cash out of a kayak? I can't get my rod to load enough for much distance.
Couple of thoughts: first - you really only need to cast ~40 ft or so. If you can get it out further - its a bonus. Second - use a double haul cast. It's much easier on your shoulder, you will have better control and it will load up the rod and get you some extra distance. Some great videos on UA-cam on effective double haul casting.
I found a really good video on how to cast out of a kayak. ua-cam.com/video/04Wtc5xo1nY/v-deo.html
Fly-Man question you fish with 10wt line is it float or sink tip. What leader and tips? Thanks you in advance
I use floating line - but for those occasions when I want get the fly down deeper, I add a sinking tip line. For leaders - I make my own using fluorocarbon line. I use 30 lb for the 1st 4-5 feet and 20 lb for the next 5-7 feet. All the places I go, the fish are not leader shy - so I go with a heavier line.
I like the 10wt setup. It’s just up my alley
