elpaso991 You put the flush line on the same side as the sight glass because the volute is pre tapped on the neck. It avoids having excess line bends and you can usually buy pre cut braided stainless steel line for the flush. He is working on a Griswold 811S, normally on the smaller pumps you have to remove the stud on that side that attaches the seal plate to the powerframe in order to pipe in your flush line because the stud blocks it.

Out of curiosity, what's the reason for having the flush line facing in same direction that the sight glass is facing?

Ok... 1. why are you using crappy threaded bar instead of engineered studs ? 2. what a great design, the flush connection is obscured by the locating fastener for the seal housing /stuffing box! 3. you stated that you plug the seal connections but you should always leave the drain port open. 4.Where is the torque driver for the set screws in the seal they should be tightened to 4.5 NM!.5. they are not set screws they are socket grub screws. 6 You tightened the seal gland nuts up wrong! they should be tigtened up in a diagonal pattern not side to side. 6 You failed to torque up the seal gland nuts. 7. why are there no washers on the lock nuts fitted to the bearing carrier? 8. Why are the bearing carrier fasteners covered in paint and prob made from mild steel so they will sieze on site and be a pain to move next time you set the impeller clearance? 9. You didn't torque up the casing Set screws.10. Why use a pair of crappy water pump pliers to tighten the impellor? just use hand pressure and tap the shaft spanner on the bench ! .....in short if you are going to put these instructional videos out get it right for god's sake

Actually you did that wrong! The seal needs to go on the pump shaft first and then bring the backing plate on and slide the seal back and then bolt it up once in position.... There is enough variability in the bore size you may have the seal off-set on the shaft causing misalignment. Just in case you need to know, I have 25 years experience in doing this and seeing the results of doing it wrong.

Absolutely do not install a cartridge seal on the seal chamber!!!!!! Install seal on shaft and then install seal chamber (stuffing box).
